Han Jin was speechless. He had just left the hospital and trouble had already found him. A seemingly ordinary playing card was shot at Han Jin in a very tricky angle. Although the card seemed soft and powerless, if thrown with a special technique, it could be as sharp as a blade, let alone at Hero Academy where everyone was a superpower, the power of the playing card was naturally more considerable.
Han Jin slightly turned his head to dodge the card that only stopped when it cut and lodged into the streetlight behind him, showing its great power. But the card was not fast, and even an overweight person could normally avoid it. The other party had done this just to express a warning.
"Stop hiding, I'm right here. Speak up if you have something to say." Han Jin looked at the sky, wishing that he had brought an umbrella when he went out.
"Quite arrogant huh? Good, I like your kind," a few voices rang out. Han Jin now found himself surrounded by seven or eight hostile-looking individuals.
Han Jin didn't recognize any of these people, except for the one sporting a plane-shaped band-aid on his nose. With an inward sigh, Han Jin concluded that his series of troubles seemed endless.
The guy with the band-aid, Plane Nose, marched forward a few steps to Han Jin's face, "Kid, you should've done your homework on who my cousin is before messing with me. Lucky for us, we're right at the hospital door, saves us from calling an ambulance.”
Plane Nose then retreated behind a blonde man, adding, "Cousin, this is the guy who beat me up while I was injured the other day. You have to take revenge for me."
The blond man held his head back and pushed him aside, "If only you'd work better on your practice and stop getting into trouble. Can't you make life a little easier for me?"
Plane Nose seemed quite submissive in front of the blond man, accepting his chastising.
The blonde man then pulled out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, "Kid, I know my cousin is a loser, but he's my little brother after all. How do you think we should resolve this?"
As he said this, he acted with a superior air, with not even a touch of regard for Han Jin in his eyes, and his companions also seemed impatient.
Class c2 leader, Lei Lie, rose to fame quickly since his enrollment two years ago, leaping from class E to C. He had a modest reputation at Hero Academy, having defeated several pros of class c1 in previous exchange meets. However, despite being in a c2 class now, it's almost universally accepted that he is one of the most potent in class C. His strength ensures his position at the top of a class in the highly competitive academy.
Known for his love of face and a fierce protector of his friends and family, Lei Lie would teach anyone a lesson who caused his friends or family grief, regardless of who was at fault. He saw taking care of these troubles with his cousin as a way to make extra pocket money at the expense of others.
Han Jin thought he might have had the wrong approach from the beginning. Being firm seemed to be the better option.
"So, what do you want?" Han Jin asked with a subtle smile, completely fearless.
Lei Lie was slightly taken aback, figuring a newbie like him wouldn't know the "rules" here yet. "The solution is simple, money." Lei Lie held up three fingers.
"Three hundred thousand? That's quite a reasonable price." Han Jin nodded in agreement, seemingly okay with the amount.
His reaction caught Lei Lie and his gang off guard. Initially intending to charge Han Jin a measly thirty thousand world coins, Lei Lie instead found himself in the presence of a ripe target. "Do you have that much money?" asked a man holding a playing card, his face emotionless. He had been the one to throw the card earlier."Still smiling, Han Jin replied, 'You seem to be misunderstanding something; it is you who proposed to me three hundred thousand world coins. I won't consider crossing this matter till then.’
In response, Lei Lie realized he'd been played and immediately flew into a rage, glaring at Han Jin, 'Very well, those who dared to speak to me like this probably already have grass growing a meter high on their graves. Get him, boys.'
The atmosphere was tense as everyone drew their weapons. Lei Ren, a strange creature with a jet engine for a head, hid to the side, smirking, 'You foolish boy, you've dug your own grave. I can't be blamed for this.'
Lei Ren considered the encounter with Han Jin as mere fate since he himself had yet to add fuel to the fire.
In Lei Ren's view, no matter how pompous the enemy seemed, they could never beat his cousin. If so, why would they be distributed to the worst class, e3?
Throughout the commotion, Han Jin maintained his composure, showing no intention of throwing a punch. He was pondering, how best to incapacitate his foes.
However, a girl's clear and bell-like voice suddenly rang through the confusion, 'What do you think you're doing?!' It was as if her voice contained a magical power that attracted the attention of everyone present.
Han Jin was stunned. This voice seemed familiar and comforting. He turned around to see a young girl dressed in red and white standing at the hospital entrance.
The girl was quite striking. Her raven-black hair was tied into a long braided ponytail that reached her hips; beneath her bold lips, she had a barely visible black mole. Her expressive eyes and a slight splash of pinkish hair made her look youthful and vibrant—a true beauty.
She was dressed mostly in red and white and wore a pair of mismatched black stockings. Hanging at her waist was a small drum, secured by a belt. Over her shoulder, she carried an electric guitar.
'Man, this doesn't feel right. This girl must be in class 'B', let's split.' Lei Lie's minion, Buzz-Cut, sensed the strong aura from the girl, concluding that continuing the fight wouldn't do them any good.
Despite the bitterness of being used, Lei Lie was not going to explode in a fury yet. He was disappointed for the first time been treated this way, to be unable to retaliate immediately. However, he was not a fool, he understood the strength of the B class superpower, 'I hope you have enough luck to hide behind women all your life. Let's leave.'
Seething with anger, Lei Lie and his cronies rushed away, leaving Han Jin and the young girl.
'Thanks for your help; I haven't asked your name yet?' Although it was the girl who helped with the altercation, Han Jin didn't concern himself with them anymore. He was keen to know who this charming rescuer was.""Oh no, I'm going to be late for the band practice, I need to hurry." The girl glanced at the watch on her left hand, looking very anxious. She hurriedly ran off without answering Han Jin's question, leaving Han Jin alone in the rain, gazing at her retreating figure.
"I wonder if I could see her again." Han Jin watched the girl's figure, a slight curve appearing at the corner of his mouth.
