"Roar!!!"
The awakened Ghost Bear raises its head and roars.
The deafening, deep roar echoes throughout the entire forest.
Luo Ning knows that his presence has been detected. This magical beast is extremely aggressive, so he lifts up his scythe and holds it across his chest.
The Ghost Bear stands up from the ground, knocking down the thick tree trunks with its sturdy body. Stumbling and frightened, it... flees the scene?
The bear even gets up and starts walking in shock. It can be said that it just took off running.
This leaves Luo Ning, who was already prepared to flee, dumbfounded.
"What the heck?!" He looks back and is stunned.
He takes another look at the scythe in his hand.
On the curved hook of the black scythe, ten bloody eyes stare straight at Luo Ning, appearing somewhat creepy.
The Ghost Bear runs away upon seeing this thing, meaning that just holding the Demon King's weapon in hand is intimidating enough?
"Sure enough, it's Lilulu..." Luo Ning sighs quietly.
On the trembling ground, the Ghost Bear runs upright, pushing aside the towering trees along the way. Birds and beasts are scared off and scatter in all directions.
With all this commotion, Lilulu is bound to wake up soon.
Luo Ning gazes at the retreating back of the Ghost Bear. The fact that it's fleeing means it can't fight me?
With a try-it-out mentality, Luo Ning raises the scythe.
As he swings down with all his strength, with his arm leading his wrist, Luo Ning can even hear the whistling wind next to his ear.
"Boom——!!!"
The gust of wind sweeps up soil, mixed with broken branches and barks, drowning out the Ghost Bear's roar.
When Luo Ning opens his eyes again, he sees a familiar figure.
"What have you done?!"
Lilulu flaps her bat wings and appears above and to the side of Luo Ning.
Her gaze doesn't linger on Luo Ning but at the mess in front of her.
A straight cut mark almost divides the entire forest into two.
On the vast land, the moist soil is cut open like tofu, revealing all the rock and sand strata beneath.
At the edge, close to Luo Ning's feet, the strange black flame is still burning.
The flickering flame doesn't have any temperature, but instead, it absorbs the surrounding heat, burning colder and colder.
Luo Ning shivers, fearing that the surrounding temperature has already dropped below freezing. The cold feeling seems to penetrate his soul.
"I..." Luo Ning looks at the devastated scene and hesitates, "I was preparing breakfast."
He wasn't lying; he really had come to prepare breakfast, then somehow... he cut down a bear?
Speaking of which, where's the bear?
Just as Luo Ning tries to cast his gaze outwards, Lilulu's pale legs block his entire view.
At this moment, Lilulu is furious with her magical power leaking out, her white waterfall-like hair is blown by an invisible force, and her eyes reveal a mix of feelings.
Surprise, anger, and...a bit of vigilance?
"The Laevatain..." Lilulu finally speaks.
Luo Ning responds with a doubtful "hmm?"
"Give me the weapon," she demands.
She doesn't rush to blame Luo Ning, nor does she lose her temper like before. Her tone is simply indifferent, asking Luo Ning to return the item to her.
It feels as if she has become a different person...
Could it be that she is also afraid of him holding the weapon?
Luo Ning seems to understand the fear in Lilulu's eyes.
He silently moves the scythe behind his back.
Seeing this, Lilulu immediately flaps her wings and swoops behind Luo Ning.
Luo Ning follows her around, and every time she tries to fly to his back to reach for the weapon, Luo Ning quickly pivots one hundred and eighty degrees on his toes, gracefully spinning in place."Give it back to me!!"
Lilulu was almost furious, and as she circled around Luo Ning, she looked just like a child who couldn't reach their toy.
She had a petite figure, and her arms were much shorter compared to Luo Ning, an adult. Luo Ning could easily tease her and make her run around in circles.
"The Laevatain, come back!"
Just because Luo Ning wasn't listening to her didn't mean her divine artifact wouldn't listen to her either.
Lilulu ordered the scythe in Luo Ning's hand, but surprisingly, this time, The Laevatain didn't respond at all.
The ten blood-red pupils that opened simultaneously were staring at Luo Ning without blinking. Two of them even squinted slightly, making it look like they were smiling. Coupled with red glowing pupils, the smile seemed strangely enchanting.
Lilulu began to feel annoyed and frustrated.
The Laevatain had always obeyed her commands and only recognized her as its master. However, after encountering Luo Ning, the artifact stubbornly clung to him and even permitted Luo Ning to use it! When Lilulu wielded the scythe herself, The Laevatain could at best cut through a stone, and it took some effort to shatter a hill only after injecting it with magic power.
But in Luo Ning's hands, The Laevatain became incredibly powerful, capable of destroying her forest without even consuming magic power!
Divine artifacts usually had their own consciousness, and that fellow should have known that the forest was its master's territory, but it showed no mercy in its actions!
"So this thing is called The Laevatain..." Luo Ning dodged Lilulu's pounce with another clever turn.
Lilulu stood in front of his chest, tiptoed, and jumped twice, but she still couldn't reach it.
Speaking of which, the name 'The Laevatain' did sound familiar.
When Luo Ning had initially started writing the outline for his novel, he had written a setting collection, which included names of places, characters, species, and of course, weapons.
However, most of those weapons never made an appearance, and the book eventually lost its momentum, essentially becoming a waste draft.
As the divine artifact had self-awareness, when Luo Ning called out its name, The Laevatain's ten pupils began to tremble simultaneously.
It seemed to be...excited? And incredibly passionate?
Luo Ning was a bit overwhelmed by its reaction. Its burning gaze seemed like it wanted to devour Luo Ning, even though it didn't have a mouth.
"I can give it back to you, but you have to promise me one condition."
Holding the artifact in his hand was somewhat unsettling, but Luo Ning intended to return it to its rightful owner. In the end, it was only borrowed.
However, Luo Ning had his terms.
The cautiousness that Lilulu accidentally revealed in her eyes appeared to Luo Ning as a sign of weakness. She was wary of the weapon in his hands.
In order to survive, Luo Ning had to make use of everything he could.
"... Don't push your luck, Creator! I've already fulfilled your first wish, and now you're still making conditions with me."
Lilulu, who was used to being high and mighty, found it very irritating to be toyed with by a human.
Demons were all very proud, and demon kings were no exception.
Lilulu had never dealt with a human before, and her world was filled with fighting and killing.
Making conditions? Nobody had ever dared to make conditions in front of her.
So she stared at Luo Ning with a haughty gaze.
As soon as the words fell, the scythe held by Luo Ning was swung horizontally.
Lilulu knew the scythe was dangerous, so she instinctively closed her eyes.
'Clang-'
The scythe spun half a circle in the air, with the sharp side hidden behind Luo Ning. Using the handle, he gently tapped it on Lilulu's demon horn."Take care of my three meals a day, and I will return your weapons to you."
Lilulu covered her head.
She was anxious and had no way to deal with Luo Ning.
She showed her sharp teeth, wrinkled her nose, and glared fiercely at Luo Ning.
After a while, she finally choked out one sentence:
"…My horns really hurt, you know!"
Luo Ning was taken aback: "…Um, I really didn't know that."
That being said, the word 'horns' coming from the mouth of a demon lord was quite childish!
