Chapter 4: The Demon Lord's Weapon
update icon Updated at 2023/6/20 19:13:16

The place shrouded by the red moonlight was Luo Ning's destination.

- The Black Forest with food and water!

The forest was now within reach.

Bizarre, ancient, and dense, the pitch-black trees almost covered all the light. Only faint red moonlight filtered through the shadowy branches.

As it was too dark, Luo Ning asked Lilulu to light a fire.

"I do not know the fire magic," Lilulu turned her head and snorted.

"It's impossible that you don't. Demons can manipulate fire, and you're the Demon King, how could you not?" Luo Ning said confidently.

He was sure that when designing the demon race, he had given them fire magic.

Lilulu, however, seemed to have not heard anything, just snorted and turned her head away, completely ignoring Luo Ning.

Luo Ning understood that she was not incapable but unwilling.

If she was unwilling, Luo Ning couldn't force her.

If only he added a phrase like 'obey my husband's orders' to the vow before.

However, he wasn't sure if such a vow would work in marriage, Luo Ning didn't have the time to find out.

"Sigh," he sighed and stopped at the edge of the forest.

It looked rather dark and eerie inside, as if a monster would jump out at any moment and swallow him whole.

"What's the matter, are you scared?" Lilulu even had the leisure to taunt him from behind.

Her malicious smile revealed sharp fangs, and her bat-like ears fluttered as she spoke.

Danger lurked beneath her adorable appearance.

Luo Ning was still somewhat troubled by his wife, but preserving his life was the most important thing.

Hunger forced Luo Ning to take action.

After waiting for his eyes to adjust to the darkness, Luo Ning slowly entered the forest.

The soft, decaying soil beneath his feet was damp and smelled of mold.

In the moist environment, Luo Ning left uneven footprints with each step he took.

Lilulu silently followed behind him.

A black magic circle appeared on the soles of her white feet, allowing her body to float and avoid getting dirty in the mud.

Lilulu looked unhappy, unwilling to follow Luo Ning's pace. She was not willing to leave before killing Luo Ning.

She was waiting and studying the power of the vow. After breaking it, she would kill Luo Ning.

To avenge herself!

"Speaking of which, Lilulu."

For a modern person from the 21st century like Luo Ning, it was somewhat frightening to walk alone in such a gloomy and terrifying place.

So he tried to find someone to talk to in order to distract himself from the tension.

Regardless of whether Lilulu would listen or not, Luo Ning spoke.

"Why are you so eager to kill me?"

Luo Ning paused for a moment and continued:

"Although I know that leaving my work unfinished is not the right thing to do, I am, after all, the creator of you guys. Without my contribution to your creation, why do you hate me so much?"

Luo Ning could feel Lilulu's intense hatred towards him.

He knew that demons were not kind to humans, and their greatest enjoyment was killing. That's why they were called the most evil race by humans.

But Lilulu's maliciousness was not from her instincts. It was very targeted and directed only at Luo Ning.

Lilulu silently stared at Luo Ning. In the dark, her eyes looked like flowing blood, and her tender face was tense with emotion.Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew, and Lilulu's body leaped into the air. With her bat wings fully spread behind her, she raised her scythe and severed the sharp wind, swinging it viciously towards Luo Ning.

Luo Ning stood still, watching her from the side. This was the sixth time Lilulu had tried to kill him today, and the sixth time she had failed. Lilulu seemed to have expected this outcome as well, as her hand holding the scythe hung down naturally, appearing somewhat weak.

Afterward, she quickened her pace, walked to Luo Ning's front, and left a sentence: "No comment." Luo Ning watched her back and couldn't help but feel helpless. As for him and this problematic girl, they indeed had some significant issues in communication. They could only slowly adapt to each other. After all... familiarity breeds affection.

Due to the dim light and obstructed vision, Luo Ning's walking speed was very slow. He felt that it was already rare for him not to stumble and fall in such a situation, let alone trying to hurry along the way, which was simply impossible.

At this time, Lilulu's figure had disappeared into the darkness. Luo Ning looked around, only seeing those crisscrossed branches. Intuition told Luo Ning that Lilulu wouldn't leave. First of all, neither he nor Lilulu knew how strong the power of the oath was. In addition, Lilulu hated him so much that for the devil, hatred was enough to drive her to take action. Before killing Luo Ning, Lilulu wouldn't give up.

'Swish,' a noise sounded at Luo Ning's feet, and he looked closely. With his eyesight, he could only see an object's outline. A white, palm-sized... little rabbit? The rabbit lay on the ground, chewing on a dry stick in its mouth. When its eyes met Luo Ning's, the rabbit showed no fear or intention of running away. Probably... Luo Ning just looked too weak and non-threatening.

However, this rabbit wasn't ordinary – it was a magical beast. Compared to regular little white rabbits, this rabbit had an additional black spiral horn on its head, protruding abruptly from the top. The black horn did not match the white rabbit at all, but it was quite in line with the peculiar appearance of the 'magical beast' species.

Horned rabbit, one of the weakest species among magical beasts, had its weakness in the horn on its head. All you needed to do was bend down and lift the horn, and no matter how much it struggled, it wouldn't escape or hurt the person trying to catch it.

However, the flesh of magical beasts contained some toxicity, and the stronger the beast, the stronger the poison - so few people eat them. But the horned rabbit was so weak that eating one would probably only cause numbness in the limbs for a few hours.

For Luo Ning, who was almost starving, there was no need to hesitate. He held his breath and concentrated, trying to catch the rabbit while it was still not on guard against him – thinking this, Luo Ning prepared himself and lunged forward.

'Clang — ' A black scythe appeared out of nowhere, striking down directly in front of Luo Ning. The scythe blade blocked Luo Ning's line of sight, and the small rabbit in front of him was frightened and fled in panic.

The little rabbit's short legs moved rapidly, and in the blink of an eye, it disappeared into the bushes. Luo Ning straightened his back and looked behind him. "...seriously? Just for eating one of your rabbits," he complained.

Indeed, this forest was Lilulu's territory, and all the creatures in it belonged to her. "I've thought of a way to kill you," Lilulu walked out of the darkness, and with the help of the little red light that penetrated through the leaves, Luo Ning could see her general outline."Starve me to death?" Luo Ning replied.

He guessed it.

What a vicious heart this flat-chested girl has!

"It's okay," Luo Ning patted his trouser leg, stood up from the ground, "At worst, I won't eat living things. There are mushrooms in this damp forest, and if it comes to that, I can chew on leaves too."

As he spoke, he picked up the sickle in front of him.

Thinking that Lilulu had been carrying it for a day, Luo Ning wanted to test its weight.

The tip of the sickle was embedded in the soil, Luo Ning grabbed the handle and gently pulled.

The sickle was pulled out.

All of a sudden, a dark and gloomy atmosphere swept the entire forest, and dark elements went rampant.

'Gah—!!'

The power of fear startled the birds, countless birds and animals took off and flew away from the branches.

Luo Ning couldn't sense the elements, so he didn't know what had happened.

He looked up at the giant birds fleeing in all directions and thought Lilulu's anger had scared them away.

When he looked at the sickle again, Luo Ning saw... uh, ten eyes??

There were ten horrifying red pupils distributed on the side of the sickle.

The red pupils were full of bloodshot, each looking in different directions.

One of them was staring straight at Luo Ning.

"...What the fuck is this?" Luo Ning exclaimed.

This thing was too terrifying.

Did Lilulu carry this mess around all day while walking??!

No wonder Luo Ning didn't know the name of this weapon, he hadn't even started writing about the specifics of Lilulu's weapon when he created her!

"…Give it back to me," Lilulu said coldly, her face somber.

Her body was trembling yet Luo Ning didn't notice.

"Ah, you said 'me'? You were using 'I' before." Luo Ning's focus was a bit odd.

However, seeing the increasingly cold gaze of Lilulu, he still threw the creepy item at her.

"Here, take it back. I can't use it anyway," he shrugged.

He knew that the Demon King's weapons were not easy for ordinary people to control. Luo Ning was merely curious about its feel; he wasn't about to steal it.

Lilulu stretched out her hand to catch the weapon.

The ten wide-open blood pupils closed back up the moment they left Luo Ning's palm.

The Laevatain...

She looked at the weapon in her hand with caution.

Even in her prime, she could only open four blood pupils at most.

As for the moment when ten blood pupils open simultaneously... Lilulu had never experienced it.

But a minute ago, she saw it.

It was a very terrifying and pure dark power. Even she, a genuine Demon King, couldn't help but shudder.

Such power could be easily controlled by Luo Ning?

Is this the so-called 'Creator god'...

Once again looking at Luo Ning, Lilulu's eyes became somewhat complicated.
