"This should be the lowest level."

"This door is severely rotten. Let's put some effort into prying it open."

After numerous hardships, the two adventurers exploring the ruins finally found the last section of the ruins.

The faces of the two adventurers were filled with excitement, already imagining the generous rewards they would receive after going up.

After exploring for so long, not a single person had sacrificed.

There was no need to worry at all.

With little effort, the two adventurers easily pried open the broken door.

Fortunately, they were B-grade adventurers, so breaking through an iron door was not too difficult.

Of course, if the door had been perfectly intact, it wouldn't have been so simple for them to open it.

Luckily, the stones around the door were already weathered, and the door itself seemed to be in shambles.

"Hey!" The two adventurers high-fived.

Then, the sound of armor moving could be heard.

Followed by the sharp sound of metal scraping against the ground.

A synchronized and orderly sound of footsteps came from behind the opened door.

The two B-grade adventurers were sweating on their foreheads.

But they quickly calmed down.

After all, they were B-grade adventurers, and in the face of terrifying danger, couldn't they just run away?

The promotion of adventurer ranks was exchanged with countless experiences on the edge of life and death.

"And then-"

Blood splattered on the ground.

Every stripe on every stone brick inside the ruins emitted a dazzling light.

---

Feeling groggy, Brey's head felt heavy.

"..." Brey got up.

Brey frowned, not understanding what had just happened.

It was now very dark around, as if all the lights in the ruins had suddenly gone out.

"This... doesn't seem right... It's so unfamiliar here..."

It was not the place they were originally in.

Nissa and Virginia were having a great conversation just now.

But suddenly, Brey lost consciousness.

Right before losing consciousness... it seemed like all the patterns on the stone bricks were glowing.

When Brey woke up, they found themselves in this unfamiliar place.

-"What kind of potion were they drugged with?" A strange thought crossed Brey's mind.

With that in mind, Brey slowly moved forward in the darkness, and after the sound of footsteps came, an echo reverberated.

-"Looks like a very empty place." Brey squinted their eyes, realizing that all they could see were columns around them.

With their ear against the floor, Brey tried to find the location of someone.

The sounds were chaotic, but without a doubt, there were people in this ghostly place.

The cold floor, the cold columns, everything around emitted a chill that made one's hairs stand on end.

Suddenly, Brey's pupils constricted-

There was also the smell of blood.

As thick and pungent as the smell of blood during the countless deaths and injuries in the fortress.

Brey touched their left eye patch and sighed.

It seemed they had once again stumbled into something extraordinary.

But standing still wouldn't solve anything; the only thing they could do was continue moving forward.

Standing still wouldn't help improve the situation.

Calming their state of mind, Brey tightly gripped the broken sword behind them.

Even if "Last Sound" didn't see any blood splatter, holding a weapon still gave a bit of a sense of security.

"What the hell..." Brey tripped over something with their foot and fell.

Their chin hit the hard stone floor hard, and Brey let out a cry of pain.

"What the heck tripped me..."

After Brey saw clearly, their expression became more solemn.

It was a corpse.

A neatly split adventurer, lying in front of Brey, cut cleanly from head to toe.

The sight was not suitable for children, and it made Brey feel nauseous.

The lingering smell of blood that couldn't dissipate made Brey's heart sink.

Indeed, the idea of an absolutely safe ruin didn't exist.

But since Brey was already here, they had already prepared for the worst.

Brey knew their own strength, and it wouldn't be strange if they were killed by a powerful entity sometime. But Brey was not willing to die without knowing what was happening. As Brey moved forward, the surroundings finally started to become a bit brighter. After advancing for a certain distance, suddenly, the area became illuminated. The sudden brightness made Brey squint their eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable. Blue flames were hanging around each pillar, illuminating the entire place. The flames were not close to the ground, but instead, were hanging high above. However, the flames didn't bring any warmth to the environment. Brey surveyed their surroundings and realized that it resembled a competition arena. At the same time, they could hear screams, continuous screams that made their scalp tingle. Whether male or female, the screams made Brey's breath catch. "Snap!" Half of a corpse flew directly towards Brey, splattering them with blood and the tremendous impact knocked Brey to the ground. Even Brey's face turned pale with fear. Pushing the body off them, they adjusted their breathing. After catching their breath, Brey finally saw what was happening around them and recognized someone they knew. "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!!" Virginia's face was covered in tears as she huddled behind Blanche. The trembling girl looked pitiful, like a frightened little animal. Even Blanche's expression wasn't much better, fear filled her small face. "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!! I want to go back!!" Virginia's desperate voice reached Blanche's ears. "Miss, everything will be fine..." Blanche said those comforting words, but even she didn't have much confidence. The only hope they could rely on was Nisa, who was directing the struggling adventurers. And it was a large group of "people" wearing black armor and holding knight swords and tower shields that terrified everyone present. Nisa, the "Knight Princess", was the backbone of all adventurers at that moment. Nisa, whose strength was on par with a Class A adventurer, was everyone's reliance. "Prepare for a powerful offensive spell!!" With Nisa's voice, magic circles lit up around the area. The chant echoed in the arena, resembling an epic tale. "Vanguards, hold the line!!!" "Yahhhh!!!" Adventurers with strong physiques stood in the front, wielding their weapons. The black-armored knights on the other side also charged. The group of black-armored knights, twenty in number, launched an assault on the hundreds of adventurers. Among them were Class B and C adventurers. Under normal circumstances, a group of adventurers like this would not fear even facing a regular army of ten thousand. However, now their faces showed no signs of ease, only fear. But they suppressed their fear with determination. Any sign of fear would cause this temporary front line to collapse. "Chi-la—" The movements of the black-armored knights were so uniform, as if one person was wielding the swords and all raised and fell at the same time. They were an almost perfect knight order! However, no one was in the mood to appreciate such perfectly coordinated movements. In just a moment of clash, at least twenty adventurers were cut down. Limbs were scattered, weapons fell to the ground, making a "clang" sound. Such sounds were magnified infinitely in the arena. "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!! Blanche!!" Virginia buried her head deeply into Blanche's back. Blanche herself was also trembling uncontrollably. "Everything will be fine, Miss! Everything will be fine!! Miss!!" Blanche's voice grew louder and it was unclear whether she was trying to encourage Virginia or herself. With her trembling body, Blanche held Virginia tightly. "No matter what happens, I won't let you get hurt!!!" Virginia was crying so much that she couldn't speak, and her breathing seemed to stop with each sob. At best, Blanche was only a Class B adventurer, and Virginia was probably at the level of a Class C adventurer. However, neither of them had the mental fortitude of seasoned adventurers, so all they could manage was to cower in fear at the back.
