Chapter 35

"So, what do you think?"

"What?"

"That."

William Wei lifted his chin and pointed ahead.

"What do I think? Isn't that our class monitor?"

"Of course I know that's our class monitor. I'm talking about the person next to her!"

Samson Nan followed his gaze.

The person standing next to the old class monitor was probably her new husband. He had regular features, short hair, and wore glasses. In short, he was an ordinary man.

"He's her fiance. What about it?"

"Look at his face closely and imagine him without his glasses!"

"..."

Who is he? Do I know him?

"Hey, Big Ball!"

Samson Nan suddenly remembered. "Isn't that our former classmate? We all called him Big Ball back then because he was so fat like a ball."

"You think so too? Looks like I'm not mistaken!"

William Wei narrowed his eyes and looked through the wedding crowd at the groom once again.

"This guy has changed so much, I barely recognize him. He used to be dark and fat, and now he's thin and fair. Did he get plastic surgery or something?"

"Hey, don't say anything weird at someone else's wedding," Samson Nan reminded him in a low voice.

"Hey, isn't that Wei Ge and Samson Nan?"

Big Ball seemed to have noticed them and walked over with his glass of wine.

"Congratulations, Big Ball!"

Samson Nan smiled and clinked his glass with him.

"Ha ha, thank you!"

"Big Ball, you've changed a lot over the years. You're getting more and more handsome. Not to mention you've married our class monitor as your wife. You're a real winner in life!"

This guy William Wei was just bad-mouthing the groom, but now he's currying favor with him.

"Ah, back then, so many guys wanted to date our class monitor, but I never thought she would end up with you!"

"Ha ha ha!"

The old class monitor, Ma Xue, chuckled along.

"Right? Unlike you guys who went to college, I left after graduating from high school and have been struggling for these years. Now it's time for me to stop and think about my lifelong goals."

Saying that, Big Ball touched his hair arrogantly and smiled proudly, showing off a huge diamond ring on his finger.

He's probably a boss now.

The two of them sneered in their hearts.

"Didn't Jocelyn York come with you guys?"

Ma Xue asked.

"No, she's probably on her way," William Wei replied.

"Jocelyn York, you mean? Is she still dressing like a tomboy? She was so funny back then."

"You were funny back then, too..." William Wei mumbled quietly.

"Don't talk nonsense. Jocelyn is very beautiful now. I saw her just last week," Ma Xue scolded her husband.

"Yes, whatever you say," Big Ball indulgently smiled.

...

"I'm so annoyed. I was just shown off by that guy. He made a little money, got married, and now he thinks he's so cool?!"

After Big Ball left, William Wei complained to Samson Nan.

"Today is his wedding. Let's not say anything bad," Samson Nan warned him in a low voice.

"Yes, yes." William Wei couldn't argue.

"By the way, are you wearing formal attire today? Are you taking it too seriously?"

William Wei looked around. Most of the guests were dressed up.

"It makes me stand out..." He glanced at his sportswear.

"... "

He remembers being scolded like this by a certain little person.

In the end, he couldn't bring himself to care about things that didn't concern him.

"Good morning, you two."

"Oh, it's Jocelyn."

"Finally, I'm starving to death."

The two of them were actually waiting for Jocelyn York to arrive before they took their seats. At times like this, it's better to have one or two familiar faces to sit with to avoid awkwardness. As expected, this table seems to have been arranged by the class leader. They were all classmates from high school, and Samson Nan took a glance. Many people haven’t been in contact for several years and have even forgotten their names, and a few are those he met at the last gathering.

"Luo Jia, you three still have a good relationship, don't you?" A girl, whom Samson Nan forgot the name of, spoke up.

At that moment, the girl sitting on his left spoke, smilingly, "Samson Nan, do you remember me? We sat together for a semester!"

"Ah, hello..." He frowned and pinched his eyebrows. Who is she? While searching for information in his mind, he pretended to naturally pick up his tea cup. He felt a little anxious. How could he forget his high school seatmate’s name?

"Hey Yang Mei, we were seatmates too. Why just ask Samson Nan?" Suddenly, William Wei interrupted and gave Samson Nan a little wink.

Samson Nan breathed a sigh of relief. "How could I forget? Yang Mei, you are so funny."

"You two are something else!" Yang Mei didn't look too happy.

"Wrong, Yang Mei is sitting opposite you!" Jocelyn York whispered under her breath.

"Ah? x2" Samson Nan looked up and saw that the girl opposite him lowered her head, looking unhappy. He offended both classmates at the same time. Could there be a worse start to the evening?

"Will, thank you so much!" Samson Nan turned his head and gave William Wei a fierce glare.

"..." William Wei pretended not to hear and continued to drink his beverage.

"Everyone, please raise your glasses!" Da Qiu stumbled over with his cup, his face flushed red. "We are all old classmates, let’s not talk too much. I'll start!" He took another sip of his drink.

"Jocelyn York? Haha, you are here too!" He seemed a little unsteady.

"Congratulations, Da Qiu," Luo Jia raised her glass politely.

"Well done! Haha, you are the man, just don't be unmarried at 30, haha!" Da Qiu's words made the atmosphere awkward. Even though they were just idle comments made under the influence of alcohol, it went a little too far. Luo Jia still smiled, and sat back down.

"Stupid..." William Wei showed an unhappy expression, suddenly stood up, and Luo Jia noticed. She quickly pulled his clothes, asking him not to cause trouble. Samson Nan also signaled for him to sit down. William Wei thought for a moment and swallowed his anger.

"Ah, Yang Mei, I saw you!"

"Huh?" Yang Mei was startled.

"Do you remember when I confessed to you at the school gate in high school?" He took another sip of his drink.

"You rejected me, hiccup~"

"Hehe, it's all in the past. Let’s not mention it. Come, I'll drink to you." Yang Mei felt embarrassed, so she quickly picked up her glass.

"Now you must regret it, right? Haha, I heard that your husband has opened a barbecue shop. Is that right?" It seemed that Da Qiu was thoroughly drunk and his words were getting out of hand.

"You..." Yang Mei’s eyes turned red. Her classmates around seemed to realize that the atmosphere wasn’t right. No one dared to speak.

"Da Qiu, enough, don't go too far." Samson Nan stood up and patted his shoulder.

"Hey, Samson Nan, what's your problem? What does it matter to you if I talk to my first love? Do you still like to be the center of attention?" He pushed away Samson Nan's hand.

"No, I'm just reminding you not to regret what you say when you sober up."He stood there, towering over Big Ball, staring at him coldly. "Hey, Samson Nan," Luo Jia wanted to calm him down, but he seemed not to hear. "Oh, I see. You like to be in the limelight, just like in high school? You thought I was still insignificant? Look at you now, you're nothing!" Big Ball shouted, and now everyone's attention was drawn to them. Suddenly, it grew abnormally quiet. Those who knew understood that Big Ball was venting his high school resentment here.

"Huh..." Samson Nan breathed lightly, raised his head, and put on a slight smile. "Big Ball, today is your wedding day, I won't argue with you. I was too proud just now. I apologize." Luo Jia breathed a sigh of relief. William Wei had almost rushed up to beat him up. Luckily, Samson Nan had eased the tension. Big Ball turned around, still seeming angry. "Trash." "Who are you calling trash?" A sharp voice. Big Ball turned around and saw a girl... even shorter than him? He rubbed his eyes. "Miss Tong, is it you?" His momentum from before was suddenly extinguished, fearfully looking at the skinny girl. "Nonsense, are you blind?" the girl glared at him viciously. "Come, someone bring a seat for Miss Tong!"
