Chapter 34

"Rain, Raina?!"

"Don't talk..."

"What is it?"

"..."

Raina Nan looked up and met his gaze.

"I said don't talk."

Her voice was so low that he might not have heard it if they weren't so close.

"Uh, okay."

Samson Nan was a bit stunned. Who could tell him what it meant when his little sister with tearful eyes threw herself into his arms?

Unconsciously, he quietly moved the hand that had been placed on her shoulder.

The heart that had been beating violently just moments ago seemed to slow down now.

After all, it would be strange for siblings to hug each other, right?

But Raina Nan seemed to have no intention of letting go. There was no turbulence in her watery eyes, as calm as a lake.

"Um, little one..."

He couldn't help but speak up.

"I mean, this isn't some new prank, right?"

"Um."

"Huh?"

"Yeah, it is, haha~"

She suddenly let go of his embrace, looked up, and smiled as if it had nothing to do with her.

"Really?"

"Yes."

"... "

A brief silence followed.

"So you pranked me."

He looked displeased, no trace of a smile on his face. He seemed angry.

After saying that, he walked ahead on his own.

"... Fool."

Only she was still standing there, mumbling to herself.

...

Throughout the entire process of going to the gravesite, he didn't speak to her, nor did she initiate conversation with him. These siblings, with their stubborn personalities, used to have lasting cold wars, but each time, they ended with him trying to please her with a fawning expression.

She, like a spoiled princess, squandered his doting affection on her.

...

They returned by car late in the evening. Samson Nan returned to his apartment, while Raina Nan returned home, took a shower, and entered her bedroom.

"Rain?"

Her mother thought something was odd about Raina Nan and wanted to call out to her, but she had already closed the door to her room.

"Go to bed early, don't play on the computer!"

Her mother shouted from outside the door.

"I know."

She replied, then turned on her computer.

A dark room with only the glowing screen.

Ding ding ding.

Someone had sent a message.

She glanced at the flashing icon in the bottom right corner of the computer and gently clicked on it.

"Little Fish, you're back?"

It was "Blooming Flowers in Half Summer".

"I'm back."

"Hehe, did you have a good day today?"

Blooming Flowers in Half Summer sent a smirking expression.

"Not really."

She thought for a moment, then typed a few more words:

"It was pretty terrible..."

"Huh? Really?"

"Okay, I'm going to bed now."

She said, ready to shut off the computer.

"Wait wait! What happened exactly?"

"What happened?"

"I told you something! Did you do it?"

Raina Nan looked at the words on the screen and swallowed hard.

"Uh, yeah..."

"What was his reaction?"

"No reaction!!"

She was inexplicably angry, feeling as though she had been tricked by Blooming Flowers in Half Summer.

"What do you mean no reaction? - -!! Are you sure you went to see the movie with someone else?"

"I did!"

"Then what did your brother say? He must be really angry, right?"

"No way! All he said were 'hehe', 'haha', and 'okay', he completely didn't care..."

"That doesn't make sense... Then let me teach you a killer move?"

"What move?"

"Confess!"

...

Raina Nan's body trembled slightly, and her face flushed. She didn't say anything and just closed the chat box, then logged off.

She shouldn't have trusted Blooming Flowers in Half Summer's advice as a sister complex counsellor and done something so embarrassing.

And what she wanted to confirm had also been answered...

It turned out that her brother was so disgusted with that kind of affection? She smiled bitterly, thinking that this was only natural.

Jocelyn York was standing at the bus station, hugging her arms and breathing out a puff of hot air. She thought spring would bring some warmth, but the cold air seemed to cling to the city and refused to leave. Today was the weekend, and she had gone to a nearby tutoring school to teach piano to students, not because she was struggling financially, but simply didn't want to idle around.

"Hey, Jocelyn York?"

Someone suddenly called her name, she lifted her head.

"Who are you?"

It was a woman with glasses, polite and proper. She knew it was a bit impolite to not remember her name, but she just couldn't recall it.

"Attention! Salute!"

The woman made a standing gesture, looking a bit funny.

"Squad leader?! Ma Xue!"

She suddenly remembered.

"Haha, remember now?"

It was indeed the class leader from high school, and fortunately, she could still remember her name.

"I heard you went abroad, how come you're back again?"

"Um..."

She thought for a moment and said, "Various reasons."

"What about you? Haven't seen you since graduation, what have you been up to?"

"Nothing~ just this."

Ma Xue smiled and held out her right hand, with a shiny silver ring on her ring finger.

"You're getting married?!"

"Hehe, yeah~ to be exact, engaged!"

At first, Jocelyn York was stunned, and then immediately put on a smile.

"Haha, congratulations!"

"Thank you~"

Ma Xue smiled happily.

"What about you?"

She turned her head and looked at Jocelyn York.

"Me? I'm still single."

Jocelyn York thought for a moment, and smiled a bit awkwardly.

"Really? But you're so pretty!"

Ma Xue looked a little dubious.

"No, really..."

She smiled bitterly, not sure if the class leader was complimenting her or being sarcastic.

"Oh, let me tell you..."

Ma Xue's expression became serious as she leaned in to whisper something in her ear, looking secretive.

"Remember Samson Nan?"

"Ah? Ah..."

"He's still single!"

Jocelyn York froze, wondering what Ma Xue meant.

"So, you still have a chance!"

"Oh."

Jocelyn York murmured, then suddenly regained her senses, her face turning red.

"Wait, wait! What chance?!"

"Don't you like that guy?"

Ma Xue looked at her as if it were obvious.

"Like...like? When did I say that?!"

"But we all knew."

"Knew...huh?! Knew what, and who is this 'we'?"

"All of our classmates from high school. We all knew you liked Samson Nan."

"..."

Ma Xue sighed when she saw that Jocelyn York couldn't say anything for a while.

"It was too obvious, like staring at him during class, right?"

"Well, he was sitting in front of me, what could I do?!"

Jocelyn York suddenly became nervous and her words became a little stuttered.

"And on Valentine's Day, you would follow him all day, right?"

"Well, that's because there was a fierce god and evil spirit guarding him, so other girls couldn't give him love letters...right? Jocelyn York, you're so clever~"

"Huh?!"

It turned out that she had done such a stupid thing? Unable to refute, she just wanted to find a hole to hide in!

"Haha, you're blushing, I won't tease you anymore. I'm just standing here and talking, don't mind me~ By the way, I encountered you today and happen to have this:"

The class leader took out a red invitation.

"My wedding next week, come and join us!"

"Okay, I will!"

"Well then, bye for now, I still have to give out invitations~"

"Okay~"The monitor took a few steps and then turned back, saying, "I also invited that person, hehe~" Jocelyn York was stunned and didn't hear what she said. Wedding...what?
