Chapter 32
"Sir, would you like a refill?"
"Huh?"
Samson Nan looks up.
"No, thank you."
Unknowingly, he has been sitting in this café all morning, doing nothing but mindlessly scrolling through his phone.
He checks the time, it's exactly 12 o'clock.
This is the first time he has taken a day off work, all because of his sister Raina Nan, who has been acting strangely lately. She has been getting angry with him for no reason, and it lasts for a long time. What's even more strange is that he can't figure out why she's mad at him. Could it be just a rebellious phase? It's possible, but he's not sure.
Students from the cram school start to leave in groups of three to five. Half an hour has passed, but the person he's been waiting for still hasn't appeared.
He impatiently taps his foot, then turns his head to look at his reflection in the glass window. He suddenly feels like laughing. Isn't he just like Bell Tong's father, a stalker who's worried about his daughter?
After about 20 more minutes, when most of the people have left, he sees Raina Nan in the crowd.
Her beautiful hair falls on her shoulders, and her dress sways lightly with each step. She stands out in the crowd.
Finally, he has found her.
He stands up and prepares to walk towards her, but suddenly, he stops.
Through the glass window, he sees another person next to her. A man? He hesitates for a moment, as he is too far to see the man's face clearly. Is he her friend? This theory is immediately rejected, as he knows that Raina Nan doesn't have any male friends. Moreover, the man's actions are unusually intimate, and even though he doesn't want to believe it, it's hard not to think in that direction...
Samson Nan frowns and takes out his phone.
"Brother?"
Raina Nan's phone rings and she stops walking.
"Are you finished with school?"
He deliberately asks.
"Yes... I'm done," she answers.
"Are you alone?"
"Huh? Ah, yes, I'm alone..."
"No one else?"
"No, no..."
He sees her looking around nervously through the glass window.
"Really?"
He says expressionlessly.
"I'll come pick you up."
"Huh? No, there's no need! I'm almost home..."
Her voice becomes panicked.
"You're already home? That was fast."
"Uh, yeah, well... I took a taxi..."
"Where's the taxi?"
"!?"
She suddenly realizes that the voice she hears is not from the phone, but from behind her. She looks up and sees Samson Nan standing in front of her.
"Brother?"
She's surprised.
"You can't even tell a convincing lie, Raina Nan. I thought you were better than that."
He tries to suppress his anger.
"I... "
She seems like she wants to explain, but Samson Nan ignores her and turns to the person beside her.
"It's you..."
He looks surprised at the person in front of him, and it turns out to be Gu Zihang.
"Hehe, Brother~ Long time no see!"
Gu Zihang smiles innocently and greets him.
"Why are you here... and don't call me 'brother'."
Samson Nan's face immediately turns cold when he sees Gu Zihang.
"Heh, I'm also here for tutoring~"
"... "
Samson Nan looks at Gu Zihang suspiciously.
"I didn't expect to run into Raina Nan here, how lucky!"
"Is that so?"
Samson Nan glances at him, then turns to pick up Raina Nan's hand.
"Let's go."
"No..."
She pulls her hand away from him."Raina?" He turned around. "I, I made plans to see a movie with someone else. You go back first..." She dared not look at him, only staring down at the ground. "See a movie? With him?" He pointed to Gu Zihang next to him. "Hmm," she nodded. "Really?" Samson Nan hadn't spoken yet, but Gu Zihang was already excited. His expression was as if he had just picked up a $500 supermarket voucher on the street one day. Excited, he noticed that Raina Nan was looking at him, and he instantly understood. "Ah, right, we made plans~" Samson Nan was stunned. When did their relationship become good enough to go see a movie together? And with Gu Zihang of all people? He didn't know which of her words were true. "Let's go, we're running out of time." Raina Nan walked over to Gu Zihang. "Raina Nan!!!" He suddenly yelled, his voice a little loud. Her body shook slightly as she faced him but still didn't dare to look at him. ... "Go home early~" She thought he was going to get angry, but he suddenly changed his face and put on a smile. The transformation of emotions was instantaneous, quick, and natural. Raina Nan gritted her teeth, her fists clenched tightly, and an unnamed fire surged in her heart. So it turns out that her brother was just a coward... "Let's go!!!" she shouted loudly and walked ahead by herself. "Hey? Oh." Gu Zihang, like her little brother, followed her happily. ... Samson Nan stood still and couldn't say a word until the two of them walked out of his sight. ... "Damn it!!! Samson Nan, do you have to be so cruel?" William Wei squatted on the court, his chest still hurting from being elbowed by him just now. "Isn't that a bit much?" "Your move earlier was meant to cause a technical foul, okay?!" William Wei brushed off the dirt on his clothes and struggled to stand up. "You made me come out to play with you, are we playing ball or fighting each other?" "Playing ball, what else? It's normal to bump into each other," Samson replied, unperturbed. "Normal my foot!" "Alright, I did it on purpose!" William Wei couldn't stand hearing that word again and got angry again. "Ha! Samson Nan, don't think I won't hit you just because we're bros!" "Come on!" He continued to provoke William Wei. "Wait, wait, something's not right..." William Wei suddenly stopped and looked at him suspiciously. "I mean, are you fighting with your little wife again?" "What little wife?!" "Well, it seems like it..." Seeing his reaction, William Wei felt like his guess was pretty accurate. "What's going on, bro? Let me give you some advice." "You? Forget it..." "Damn, you're looking down on me? I was known as the nerd's best buddy and the goddess's best friend in college. I've been working on emotional issues for 30 years, and I'm the king of chicken soup for the soul!" "..." He didn't know where William Wei got all those weird titles from. "Okay, speak up, what's wrong with your sister?" "She's probably, I mean possibly...in a relationship." He hesitated for a moment, but still said it. It was better than holding it in. "That's great!" "What's so great about it?! My sister is only 16 years old!" "So what? In foreign countries, you can get married and have kids at 16!" "Forget it..." He knew talking to William Wei about these things was like talking to a wall. He stood up and prepared to leave. "Wait, wait, wait!!!" William Wei grabbed him. "Hehe, I'm not joking, buddy. I have to admit, I don't understand this girl's emotions, but someone does~"He deliberately paused for a moment.
"Who?"
"Luojia!"
