Chapter 31
"Woo~~~~~~~~ We're free!!!"
After their last history exam, all of the students rushed out of the classroom.
"How did you do on the exam, Bell?"
"From now on, I refuse to answer any questions about exams~"
Bell Tong twisted her bookbag and pointed to Roxie Lin.
"Tsk, what about you, Raina?"
"Alright, I guess."
Raina Nan said as she packed the pile of books on her desk into her bag, which she wouldn't need for a while.
"Hmph, hypocrite!"
Bell Tong looked at her with a look of disdain because every time Raina would say "alright," she was lying.
"Really, this one was pretty tough."
"Is that so~?"
Bell Tong leaned back on her chair and put her feet up on the desk, looking absentmindedly at the ceiling.
For her, whether the questions were difficult or easy didn't matter, as she usually left half the test blank.
"Speaking of winter break, how are you going to spend it?"
"As soon as the scores come out and my parents give the green light, I'm going to go on a trip."
Bell Tong seemed to have a plan in mind.
"Where are you going?"
"Well..."
She thought about it.
"Probably somewhere with a starry sky."
"..."
"Pack my bags and go on a spontaneous trip..."
"Did you take the wrong medication?"
Raina Nan tapped Bell Tong's forehead with her hand.
"You're the one who took the wrong medication!"
"Are you going on a 'sophisticated' route now?"
She chuckled and looked at Raina.
"Don't be ridiculous."
Bell Tong snorted twice.
"Seriously, have you thought about forming a group to go see the stars in Tibet?"
"Me, me, me!"
Roxie Lin raised her hand excitedly, jumping up and down. She was powerless to resist such breathtaking places.
"Uh, I guess not..."
In a sudden change of heart, Roxie seemed to have retracted her idea.
"What's wrong?"
"I have no money..."
"Tell your dad to give it to you!"
"He won't give me the money to go! I'll probably be stuck home this winter..."
As she spoke, her eyes welled up with tears and she looked aggrieved.
"This is abuse! I can't take it anymore!"
Bell Tong pounded the table and stood up. Her strange sense of justice had taken over again.
"You, will you sponsor me?"
"Okay~"
"Really?!"
Roxie Lin's eyes sparkled.
"Stop kidding! I may have money, but I'm not stupid! If you want to go, pay for it yourself!"
"Tsk!"
Roxie Lin was speechless; she almost pulled a fast one.
"What about you, Raina?"
"I haven't decided yet. I might go back to my hometown with my dad."
"Well, you better decide soon~ Let me know when you make up your mind. Oh and by the way..."
Bell Tong turned her head, looking out the window.
"Ask your brother."
"What should I ask him?"
"Ask him if he wants to come with us. It might not be safe if it's just the three of us girls."
"Uh, okay..."
Raina Nan didn't do what Bell Tong wanted and agreed to whatever came to mind.
"Okay, that's the happy decision~ hehe"
Bell Tong seemed to be in a good mood as she picked up her bookbag and left.
...
Raina Nan stayed in the classroom for a while before leaving.
Actually, for her, such a short winter break was better spent at home sleeping and surfing the Internet. However, recently, for some reason, she felt emotionally disoriented. Going out for a walk might not be a bad idea.
...
Like all 16-year-old girls, she had one or two little secrets that she couldn't tell anyone, even him.
...
...
Ding ding ding.
An urgent ringing sound in the morning.
Samson Nan reached out with one hand and blindly fumbled for his cellphone on the nightstand.
He pressed "speaker".
"Hello! Samson Nan?"
On the other end of the phone, his mom spoke in her loud voice."Mom?"
He sat up in bed and looked at the clock on the wall, 6:30 am.
"Did you dial the wrong number?" he asked, pulling the covers back over himself.
"I'm telling you something important!" his mother said.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I enrolled your sister in a tutoring class and she starts today."
"A tutoring class?" he woke up fully, sitting up in bed. He had forgotten that Raina Nan was already on winter break.
"Yeah, the tutoring school is a bit far away. Your dad and I have to leave now, and I'm worried about her being safe alone. Can you take her there later?"
"But I have to go to work later..." he protested.
"Shoot, I have to go, you hurry up and come over by taxi," his mother hung up before he could finish.
He sighed and rubbed his head, got out of bed, quickly got dressed and left the house.
...
As dawn broke, the shops on the street had not yet opened, and the sleeping street was still waiting for the first ray of sunlight to appear. Raina Nan, who had gotten up earlier than even the roosters, stood by the roadside with a khaki backpack on her back. Her red scarf was wrapped around and around, covering her rosy cheeks. As the cold wind blew, it stirred her pretty hair.
On the first day of her vacation, she had to go to tutoring class; she didn't want to, but it was her mother's wish, and she dared not disobey. Although what the tutoring teacher talked about was simple and somewhat boring to her.
"Little one~"
A voice called out and she snapped out of her thoughts. Looking around, besides herself, the deserted street was just filled with air.
"What are you staring at? You'll be late!"
A long arm reached out from behind her, and before she could react, she was hugged.
She lifted her head and a pair of clear, watery eyes looked down at her from above. "Brother..." she was momentarily stunned.
[For example, he will occasionally do some ambiguous things to you.]
Suddenly, the words from the "Half Summer" day came to her mind.
For some reason, she felt blood rushing to her head, a sense of inexplicable fear immediately flooded her mind, and she quickly pushed Samson Nan away.
"Yuyu?"
"Don't touch me," she said softly.
"..."
He paused for a moment.
"I said little one~ just a hug won't get you pregnant. Why so nervous?"
Pregnant? She trembled.
They had made these jokes before, but today, she was unusually sensitive to them.
"Pervert!"
She glared at him and took a step away, keeping a subtle distance from him.
"Hehe~"
Samson Nan smirked.
"Don't forget, when we were kids, I helped you take a bath~ Is there any part of your body that I haven't touched?"
He laughed, and with his knee, he gently bumped her little butt.
"Didn't I tell you not to touch me?!"
Like being shocked, she pushed him away again and headed toward him, her face red as she shouted.
"..."
About two seconds passed.
"Can't believe it... are you really angry?"
He hesitated for a moment, looking at her.
"Of course I am!"
She raised her voice again.
"Oh."
Samson Nan dropped his smile.
"In the...future...don't...make...these...jokes again."
As he spoke, he wrote something on his palm with his finger, and then tore it off like paper and stuck it on his forehead with a smack.
"Ok, I'll remember!"
"Ugh."
She almost burst out laughing at his comical action.
Samson Nan saw that her mood had improved and walked up to her again.
"You're so angry, is it during your period?"
"Get lost!"
She glared at him and walked ahead.
...
Raina Nan walked ahead while Samson Nan followed her silently from a distance. They arrived at the school without saying a word. Samson Nan walked her to her classroom before he left, but he didn't leave immediately. He found a nearby coffee shop and sat down on the edge of it, ordered a coffee. He took out his phone, thought for a moment, then put it back in his pocket. It was already time for him to go to work, but he just couldn't bring himself to leave yet. With an unresolved issue on his mind, he wasn't in the mood to go to work. Raina Nan only had a half day of classes to teach, so he decided to wait for her here. Then, he wanted to clarify that matter clearly...
