Chapter 20
Samson Nan took a deep breath and regained his composure. He looked around and saw a pile of unopened medicine at the foot of the bed. What on earth is going on? He couldn't understand.
"Brother, aren't you cold?" Raina Nan whispered after he remained silent for a while.
"What do you think?" He glanced at her impatiently. He had rushed over, leaving his clothes at the court, and now he was only wearing a short sleeve.
"Well then, you can wear mine..." She timidly tossed her school uniform to him.
"Are you joking?" He paused for a moment, then threw it back to her.
"Tell me, what's going on?"
"What do you mean what's going on?" Raina Nan avoided his gaze, and he furrowed his brows, knowing something was wrong.
"Brother, didn't you hear? Yuyu caught a cold..."
"Is that so?" He turned his head to look at Raina Nan.
"Yes, yes..."
"Does Mom know?"
"She knows..." She hesitated for a moment and nodded.
"Oh, great." He snorted and took out his phone, swiping on it.
"Brother, what...what are you doing?" She peeked up at him, feeling restless.
"I'm calling Mom. You're so seriously ill, so I'll ask her to make some chicken soup for you."
"No!" She shouted and then rushed over, trying to grab the phone.
Samson Nan sat on the bed, raising his hand high. She lunged at him and missed, unable to reach him.
"Give it to me!" She didn't give up and struggled to get it.
"Hello?" A voice came from the phone, it was Mom.
"Ah!" She quickly covered her mouth.
"Is it XIAOYU? Is it Xiao Yu?" Mom's sharp nose couldn't miss it...
She tugged at his clothes corner, her eyes desperate and tears almost streaming down, but she didn't dare make a sound.
"Mom, it's me."
"Samson Nan, I heard Xiao Yu's voice just now. Where are you guys?"
Raina Nan clasped her hands together, pitiful and pious, as if she was pleading with him.
"We're...at my apartment." He thought for a moment and said.
"Didn't she go to her classmate's house? Why did she go to your place again?"
"Well, she had lunch at my place, and I'll send her back later."
"Great, you help me see what this girl has been up to lately. She comes back late from school every day!"
"Yeah." He finished speaking and hung up the phone.
"Phew." Raina Nan pressed her hand against her chest, taking a deep breath.
"Scared?"
"Yeah."
"And yeah!" He tapped her forehead.
"Ouch!"
"You didn't tell Mom? You lied?"
"I..." She wanted to say something, bit her lip, and held back.
"Brother Feng, don't blame Yuyu. It's all my fault..."
At this moment, Bell Tong spoke up.
"You?" Samson Nan turned his head to look at her suspiciously.
"I made up the lies, pretending to be sick, and skipping class. If you want to scold anyone, scold me!"
After Bell Tong spoke her mind, she had nothing to fear and even felt a little righteous.
"I also did something wrong. I asked the teacher for leave."
Raina Nan no longer feared, staring at him firmly.
"You're covering for someone again?"
He wanted to laugh, but couldn't. It was necessary to maintain his dignity at this moment.
"What's the reason?"
"You don't need to worry about that." Bell Tong stuck out her tongue and said.
"What?!"
"Ouch, ouch, ouch, I'm going to die!" Samson Nan grabbed Bell Tong's small head like he was grabbing a basketball.
"Because I don't want to go home...for now..."
Bell Tong rubbed her head and stuttered.
"Don't want to go home? Why?""We had a fight, me and my dad..." She lowered her head and tapped her feet on the floor. "And you ran away from home over this?!" He couldn't understand. Are kids nowadays so fragile that they threaten to die at every little problem? If he had done this when he was a kid, wouldn't his mother have beaten him half to death? "He brought a woman home..." After a moment of silence, Bell Tong spoke again. "A woman?" Samson Nan knew that Bell Tong's mother had passed away at a young age, so it's normal for a man to want to find a woman to alleviate his loneliness. "Isn't it good that your dad found a stepmother for you?" "Good my ass!!!" Bell Tong suddenly yelled, her face turning red, her voice hoarse. "..." Samson Nan was stunned by her outburst. "What do you know?! How could someone like you, who has both a father and a mother, possibly understand..." She raised her head and looked at Samson Nan, who was two heads taller than her. "How my father and I have survived, only we know." "..." "Now that my dad has money, those women come knocking on the door..." Bell Tong clenched her fists as if she could hear herself grinding her teeth. "So you ran away from home to threaten your dad?" "What else can I do?" "I think, even if your dad found a stepmother for you, the one he will love the most is still you, right?" Samson Nan felt that she was making a fuss over nothing. "Then why hasn't he contacted me? It's been days without a phone call!" She took out her phone and showed it to him. "So how long are you planning to stay here?" "Until he drives away that bitch and begs me to come home!" "Is that so? You seem to have quite a temper~ but..." He glanced at Bell Tong and changed the subject. "I want to know how long the money in your wallet can last. If you run out of money and can't afford to buy more medicine, you might be kicked out of the hospital~" Samson Nan pointed to the pile of medicine next to them. These two girls went to the hospital to play a sick prank just to get a medical certificate to skip school. The doctor there was weird enough, as long as they could make a few bucks from medicine and hospital fees, they didn't care if the illness was real or fake, they would admit anyone. "If I have no money left, can I borrow from you..." She pouted and glanced at him, seeing him unmoved, she added, "I will pay you back!" "Sorry, no money~" He shrugged his shoulders and looked at her helplessly. "You!! How can you be like this! Useless dog!" She cursed and noticed that his face didn't look right. "Fengge..." "I'm really impressed." Samson Nan didn't not want to help her, but this was Bell Tong's family matter after all, he had no right to intervene. Secondly, he didn't think what Bell Tong was doing was right... "Yuyu, can't you persuade your brother?" Bell Tong's only hope, Raina Nan, who was barely able to take care of herself. "Brother~" Raina Nan hesitated for a moment, mustered up her courage, and called him with a voice that even she herself found creepy because in her memory, this move always worked. "It won't work, thank you!" He crossed his arms, his face resolute. "Brother~" She was almost at her limit, but for the sake of her friend, she couldn't care about that anymore. "Tsk..." Samson Nan clicked his tongue lightly and sighed. "I can let you stay outside temporarily, but there are two conditions. One, you have to go back to school and attend classes starting tomorrow; two, give me a deadline, and after that deadline, whether you like it or not, I will send you back home." "Really?! Then, next week! It's a promise!" Bell Tong happily shook hands with Raina Nan and bounced around. "Oh, I forgot to mention." He interrupted their celebration. "Stay at my place." "Huh??!!!" x2 Both of them were dumbfounded, looking at him. "Any objections? If you insist on staying in the hospital or a hotel, that's fine, but I won't provide any sponsorship~"Actually, he just didn't feel comfortable leaving Bell Tong alone outside. Raina Nan had to go home every day and couldn't stay overnight with her. After all, she was still a girl.
"Alright, I don't mind!" Bell said.
"But, Bell, it's not good! Um..." Raina Nan tugged at her clothes, blushing, and hesitating to say something.
"What's wrong?" Bell asked.
"No, nothing..." Raina Nan replied.
The most painful thing in the world is something that cannot be put into words.
...
"Why are you staring? Come in," Samson Nan said.
In the evening, after Samson Nan sent Raina Nan home, he went to the hospital to pick up Bell Tong and bring her to his apartment.
"Uh, uh..." Bell stood at the door and looked inside. At this moment, she realized that she was not as carefree as she thought. It was her first time entering a male's room, and she was surprisingly nervous...
