Chapter 8: Sudden Turn
update icon Updated at 2025/5/29 0:10:13

During the conversation between Green and Orphill, in a remote area of the Dragon Sanctuary.

There is a great door connecting to the Dark Dragon Realm, which is tightly bound by chains emanating holy light. However, one can still sense the faint evil aura seeping through the cracks.

Suddenly, the chains on the door shook violently.

With a muffled sound, the chains began to emit a continuous shattering sound, and a large amount of black mist emerged from the cracks. Under this immense pressure, the chains couldn't hold on any longer and shattered into countless fragments, disappearing in this area.

Almost at the same time, an immense aura of evil surged out from the gate, forming a dark cloud-like black mist.

Within seconds, the black mist slowly transformed into the shape of a dragon, resembling a giant wave crashing.

This was a dragon that was entirely black, with crimson, eerie red pupils. It had two huge fangs growing on its cheeks, shining with a sharp glow that instilled fear in others.

The black dragon exhaled a breath of black air, revealing a content expression with a touch of humanity. But in the next moment, its pupils narrowed, and it angrily spoke in a human voice, "Damn it, after so many years, we finally have the opportunity, you damn Dragon King!"

With that said, using its two huge fangs as the base, in the blink of an eye, a black sphere containing immense power condensed before its eyes. Immediately, the black dragon opened its abyssal maw and swiftly swallowed the sphere.

The scene fell into silence.

After a few seconds, a barely audible sound came from the dragon's mouth, and it was clearly visible that its facial expression twisted in discomfort.

*Burp!*

Accompanied by this unusually loud belch, the dragon's teeth were enveloped in a layer of black energy. It then bit into the air, tearing open a rift in space.

Through the space rift, one could clearly see the other side, which was the continent where Green previously set foot.

The black dragon smiled with satisfaction at this sight. At the same time, its body gradually became ethereal, shrinking and transforming into the appearance of a seductive male human in just a few seconds.

The male figure transformed from the black dragon revealed a confident smile, and then stepped inside without hesitation. However, just as he was about to leave, the space rift suddenly closed, tearing off a part of his long robes.

A torn piece of black fabric remained inside the Dragon Sanctuary.

Below the Sanctuary, on the continent.

The black dragon man looked at the shattered robe and clicked his tongue disapprovingly. But at this moment, a prolonged roar suddenly came from a distance, catching his attention.

He fixed his gaze on the distance, and an interesting smile immediately appeared on his lips.

"Hehehe, what a pleasant surprise!"

In his laughter, the black dragon man's body once again transformed into black mist. However, instead of returning to his dragon form as expected, it split into hundreds of small black mists, which then transformed into individual entities.

In an instant, hundreds of black dragons appeared in the sky.

A thick aura of evil enveloped the entire sky, transmitting to the Dragon Sanctuary as well.

Orphill, who was already troubled by Green's arrival, suddenly sensed an extremely evil aura in his perception. Karunovsky, who was beside him, also noticed the anomaly.

"This aura is...? Lord Orphill...?"

"Yeah... I also sensed it, things have taken a turn for the worse..."

Seeing the two dragons speaking to themselves, Green curiously asked, "What's wrong?"

Green could indeed sense the presence of hundreds of evil auras in his perception, but his intuition told him that these auras posed no threat. So, out of boredom, he asked Orphill, who was in the form of two dragons, a question.

At this moment, Orphill had no intention of fighting Green anymore. He reverted to his dragon form, and his voice became deep and resonant.

"The gate to the Dark Dragon Realm has been broken. If we don't stop it quickly, the consequences will be dire!"

"Dire?"

Seeing Green's confused expression, Orphill visibly paused, then thought of the pressure Green had given him before, and suddenly had the thought, "Maybe he can handle it."

But just as Orphill was about to explain, his gaze suddenly narrowed, and he shouted at Karunovsky.

"Be careful!"

However, it was too late.

Just as Ophiel yelled out, an invisible arrow pierced through Karenovsky's dragon body. Only a trickle of blood flowed from his mouth, and he fell down like a deflated doll.

Yes, he literally "deflated."

The reason for this description was because Karenovsky's body was now wilting visibly at an alarming rate, as if being hollowed out from the inside. When he fell to the ground, not even a speck of dust was stirred up.

Ophiel witnessed this scene with a heart-wrenching pain. He let out a roar and emitted a golden light from his dragon body, but with a scream, he met the same fate as Karenovsky.

The sudden turn of events startled Yuzuriha for a moment, while Green frowned in displeasure.

Green casually infused a bit of source energy into the two fallen dragons and then looked towards a patch of grass on the side.

"Quite audacious to harm someone in front of me," Green remarked, creasing his brow.

A rustling sound came from the direction of the grass, and soon a man with purplish skin and a white crest hairstyle emerged, wearing a smug smile on his face.

"Useless. Any creature hit by my 'Invisible Arrows' will have no hope of survival."

With that statement, he flaunted his hand as if holding an object in mid-air.

Although Yuzuriha couldn't see it, Green could clearly see a slender arrow, completely made of special energy. Green was certain that this energy was neither magic nor source energy.

"Interesting."

Green sneered, then extended his hand and sent forth an invisible force that struck the two dragons. In an instant, the dragons, who were only barely surviving with a thread of source energy, "swelled" and quickly regained their original forms.

"!?"

Witnessing this scene, the man with the white crest hairstyle displayed a clear expression of astonishment. Before he could react, a golden light descended from the sky, erasing him from existence.

Ophiel took a deep breath and thanked Green, saying, "Thank you for saving us."

"Just a small effort."

Green knew that it was Ophiel who had unleashed the divine light earlier, but he had little interest in dealing with such minor lackeys, so he didn't say anything further.

After ensuring the complete elimination of the assailant with the crest hairstyle, Ophiel reverted back to his human form.

Ophiel couldn't help but feel a sense of fear when he looked up at Green in his dragon form. The feeling of being looked down upon from high above made him worry that he could be easily defeated at any moment.

"This is how it is. This aura comes from the ancient Black Dragon King..."

Black Dragon King.

This phrase, which couldn't be any more plain, popped out of Ophiel's mouth, but Green listened with great interest as Ophiel recounted the story of the Black Dragon King.

In the distant ancient era, a certain black dragon stole the fruit cultivated by the Supreme God. As a result, the Supreme God cursed the black dragons, causing their low intelligence and bad temperaments. The "ringleader" black dragon, however, gained immense power but was also consumed by that power, leading to rampant destruction in the Dragon's Sanctum. Eventually, it was sealed in the dark zone of the Dragon's Sanctum by the ancient Dragon God.

Apart from the Black Dragon King, many minor generals were also sealed at that time. Based on the perceived power, the real Black Dragon King probably hadn't escaped the Dark Demon Realm yet. Once it broke free from the seal, everything would be over...

Ophiel's face grew serious, with no hint of joking. However, it was the mention of the Supreme God that piqued Green's interest and attention.

"You mentioned the Supreme God earlier. Do you know the name of that deity?"

"Uh... well..."

Clearly caught off guard by Green's interest in this question, Ophiel stumbled for a moment. After pondering for a while with his head down, he answered sincerely, "I don't know."

"..."

On the other side, the torn fabric that had been cut off by space turned into a small black dragon, unnoticed by anyone. It held a strange object in its hand with a pointed end as its distinct feature.

Black Dragon looked towards the direction where Green and the others were, a greedy smile appearing on his lips.

"Chirp chirp chirp! This transparent and sacred power can definitely help the resurrection of the Great Lord Black Dragon!"

Muttering to himself, Black Dragon ignited a mysterious black energy all over his body and hurried towards the direction he sensed.
