"I disagree." (Uesugi Yui)
After listening to Chongzong's request, Uesugi Yui decisively refused.
Her tone of response was firm, leaving no room for discussion with Chongzong.
At this moment, Uesugi Yui had just finished giving a statement at the police station and was about to go home with Yuki and Mizuo.
When she received Chongzong's call, Uesugi Yui's heart almost skipped a beat; she thought Chongzong was in danger and needed urgent assistance from her.
However, upon hearing Chongzong's situation, she felt relieved but also a bit angry.
Originally, she and Chongzong had agreed not to take risks, and if faced with danger, to evacuate promptly without hesitation.
Yet, now that Chongzong was facing a potentially dangerous situation and not evacuating immediately, but instead wanting her to help him go deeper into enemy territory...
The more Uesugi Yui thought about it, the angrier she became, almost hanging up on Chongzong.
But she couldn't do that. She was an elder sister, she needed to be mature, she needed to maintain composure, not act on impulse.
"Chongzong, I disagree with what you're doing. It's too risky. Evacuate immediately from there and we can discuss a complete plan before taking further actions." (Uesugi Yui)
Uesugi Yui's voice was tense, slightly trembling.
The one asking for help was Chongzong, but at this moment, it felt like Uesugi Yui was in the weaker position.
She couldn't help but worry; what if her refusal led Chongzong to fight against all odds, disregarding everything else?
At this moment, distant water couldn't put out a nearby fire, and the only connection between her and Chongzong was this phone call that could be disconnected at any time.
"Chongzong, are you listening?" (Uesugi Yui)
With no response from Chongzong, Uesugi Yui couldn't help but ask.
"I am listening. Let me think for a moment." (Chongzong)
Upon hearing Chongzong's calm voice, Uesugi Yui's anxious heart finally settled.
Realizing this was an opportunity to push Chongzong to give up advancing further and urgently evacuate.
"Come back now. We'll make a plan tonight and act tomorrow. We won't miss the opportunity." (Uesugi Yui)
Uesugi Yui knew what Chongzong was worried about. If they delayed, they might be at a disadvantage, and many people around them lacked the ability to confront the enemy.
Furthermore, if they delayed too long, catching the enemy off guard would become less likely.
So she said these words immediately, hoping to persuade Chongzong.
But Chongzong was still hesitating.
After repeating herself multiple times to no avail, Uesugi Yui finally lost her temper.
"Chongzong, if you don't come back to me now, I will get angry!" (Uesugi Yui)
Uesugi Yui's sudden outburst not only startled Chongzong but also frightened Yuki and Mizuo who were nearby.
The air froze for a moment. Chongzong, Yuki, and Mizuo were all so scared that they couldn't speak. It was the first time that Chongzong and even his younger sister Yuki had seen Usuki Yui get angry.
After a few seconds of silence, Usuki Yui finally got the response she wanted.
"Sister Yui, I'm going home now. See you in a bit. I'll hang up first." (Chongzong)
"Mm, see you at home. We are on our way back now too." (Usuki Yui)
At that moment, Chongzong was feeling down because he failed to achieve his expected goal. However, not long after, he would come to realize that every cloud has a silver lining.
