It's unexpected that among the enemies there are archers. This ancient way of attack is completely beyond Chongzong's expectations. However, archery does have its advantages. Unlike firearms, it doesn't make a loud noise that would attract the police, but it has a long enough range and killing power.
"Follow me quickly!" (Chongzong)
Chongzong grabbed Van and ran towards the side, hiding behind the wall, in a corner with a wide frontal view.
"They can't attack us here, but what should we do next..."
"We have been discovered. The enemies have archers. Currently, attacks are only coming from the exit, we don't know the situation in other directions." (Chongzong)
Speaking softly, Chongzong synchronized the situation with Van, who was still not fully awake, and showed Van the broken arrow in his hand.
"We don't know how many enemies there are, or how many more are coming. In any case, we must break out as soon as possible before the situation worsens further. Otherwise, staying here is a dead end." (Chongzong)
Listening to Chongzong's words, Van could only nod, not fully recovered yet. Chongzong couldn't wait, time was of the essence. He racked his brains, observing what could be used around him.
At that moment, Chongzong noticed that on the other side of the corridor, a room door was ajar, maybe there was something useful inside. To get into that room, however, they would have to pass through the enemy archers' firing range.
"You stay here and wait for me. I'll be back soon." (Chongzong)
Saying this, Chongzong didn't wait for Van to respond and immediately rushed towards the room. Ignoring whether arrows were shot at him from the exit, Chongzong was almost at the door when he could already hear the whistling sound of arrows flying through the air.
Taking a leap of faith, Chongzong didn't look back and made a desperate forward roll, narrowly avoiding the arrow. He had a close call.
After narrowly escaping into the room, Chongzong quickly scanned around and found what he was looking for — portable whiteboards hanging on the wall, about 100 by 60 centimeters, ideal as shields.
Chongzong tore down two whiteboards, then returned to the door.
"This is Eel One, calling Eel Two." (Chongzong)
"Eel Two here." (Van)
"This is Eel One, I'm about to deploy a whiteboard to your side, please be ready to catch." (Chongzong)
"Eel Two here, visual confirmation received." (Van)
Seeing Van nod at him, Chongzong held up a whiteboard like a serving platter, aimed it towards Van, rotated it and tossed it out.
After throwing it, Chongzong realized the whiteboard was heavy, thrown with such force (to avoid falling short in the middle of the road) - he worried if Van could catch it without getting hurt.
But as it turned out, Chongzong had worried unnecessarily, Van had already snapped out of his daze and steadied his hands to catch the whiteboard securely.
—Wow, you're really strong.
Chongzong exclaimed inwardly, then quickly regained his focus.
"This is Eel Number One, notifying all members, Eel Number One is about to break out from the inside with Eel Number Two, exiting from Exit Number Three. Eel Number Two, please follow closely behind me, and Eel Number Three, provide cover." (Chongzong)
"Eel Number Two, roger." (Van)
"Eel Number Three, roger." (Yui Uesugi)
The Unadon operation entered its second phase.
