Why can someone sense when others are looking at them?

There are various answers to this question. Some say it's a psychological issue, others believe it's due to peripheral vision, and some think it's a spiritual connection.

Whether it's a psychological issue or some unknown mysterious phenomenon, I have never paid much attention to it, since being watched is a fairly common occurrence.

But... if this kind of thing keeps happening to me, it's starting to become frightening.

Let's first recall, when you are sleeping, do you ever have a vague sense of someone approaching you?

If you can't remember, try closing your eyes and bringing your fingers close to your forehead...

Do you feel a tingling sensation even though there is no actual touch?

It's quite fascinating, isn't it?

There may be more scientific explanations, such as electromagnetic fields or contact with hair, etc.

But if I, who is currently in a different world, were to explain, I would tell you -

I don't care about the reasons, I just hate the feeling of being watched by something!

————————————————————————————————

This kind of thing happened to me and my roommate after we invited the mysterious Irene senior back.

Here is a snippet from my life -

6:06 a.m., slightly later than usual wake-up time.

I felt an uncomfortable gaze from somewhere.

I shivered slightly, casually tied up my hair, and started to go out for a run.

"Tap, tap, tap..."

I could hear faint footsteps behind me.

I took a deep breath and quickened my pace down the stairs.

"Pat, pat, pat..."

The footsteps behind me were still steady, but they were catching up.

Terrifying... so terrifying...

Unconsciously, I used wind magic and finally managed to shake off that gaze.

Standing near the lonely flower bed, I looked at the beautiful scenery in front of me. The morning breeze that came through the trees relaxed my mind and body.

Finally, it countered the sharp gaze that seemed to pierce from somewhere...

Help, someone save me. My body is almost paralyzed.

I caught a glimpse of a figure in the distance -

"Hey hey! Good morning, classmate!!"

Whoever it is, help me shake off this gaze!!

"Huh? Who are you? This elf is not approachable by just anyone... Miss Molly Ann?"

Ah, it's that elf I met during class, what elf... well, it doesn't matter.

"Yeah, it's me, that... um... elf..."

"I'm Diana Lee, the Oasis elf."

"Right, Diana Lee... that... good... good morning!!"

"Um... good..."

Her mouth twitched, as if unsure how to react to my exaggerated actions.

"Listen, Diana Lee, right now..."

Is someone following me?

No, I can't say that.

"Right, it's time for breakfast now, isn't it!? You haven't had breakfast yet, right!?"

The startled Oasis elf nodded in confusion.

Happily, I held her hand -

"Then let's go together!"

But it didn't make any difference. Under that closely watched gaze, I nervously ate a tasteless breakfast and was regarded as a strange person by some elf.

——————————————

Of course, I know who that gaze belongs to.

Needless to say, it's Irene herself.

She disappears in the morning and comes back every night. I can't see her figure, but I can feel her gaze. I almost thought she was invisibly tracking me.

As for why she suddenly became interested in me, I have no clue...

I plan to find a time to ask her.

On this night, both Aiya and Wakaka didn't return to the dorm for some reason.

I sat in meditation on my bed, waiting for Irene to come back.

I heard a sound at the door.

Come in, senior.

Why are you following me?
