When I returned to the harbor, it was as if a bomb had exploded. The legion of several thousand people directly surrounded the entire harbor, from the inside to the outside, looking like a wild celebration from afar.
The warship that I had blown up before could now only be seen with its top part still sticking out above the water surface, while the rest had been completely submerged by water. It seemed that the spot where I dropped the bomb was pretty good, as that location probably didn't have any water-tight devices installed. Once water entered, the whole ship would inevitably sink.
This could be considered a weakness of this type of warship, and it should be useful to remember for the future. After observing the situation here, I flickered back into the cabin. However, as soon as I entered, I saw Aliyah and Oyado looking at me with irritation, as if I owed them millions.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Did I forget to pay for our meal one day when we went out?" I joked.
"What nonsense!" Aliyah came over and kicked me.
"Look at what you've done! The entire harbor is now sealed off. Not only inside the harbor but also in the sea. How are we supposed to get out?" she complained.
"The sea?" I walked to the other side of the cabin and looked through the porthole at the sea. Sure enough, dozens of warships surrounded the whole harbor area in the near sea, probably because the army had called back all the nearby patrolling warships.
"...Well, I didn't expect them to react so quickly. I thought a little damage wouldn't elicit much response," I mused.
"Brother, that's where you went wrong. You should have just directly attacked the soldiers on guard instead. Now, with all this commotion, we won't be able to sail out," Oyado chimed in.
Even Oyado was blaming me. Alright, I admitted I didn't consider the consequences well enough. If I had known, I wouldn't have blown up the ship and instead attacked the army directly. Nonetheless, that would make me look like a terrorist, even though I do have specialized skills. But I'm definitely not a terrorist!
"Alright, I admit my mistake. But it's pointless to dwell on this now. Let's think of how to solve the current situation," I quickly changed the subject.
"Of course, whoever makes the mess should take responsibility," Aliyah taunted, making me sweat nervously.
"Fine," I surrendered to their determined gazes. "Come on, any good ideas?"
"We've got plenty of good ideas. Our intelligence is just as sharp as yours," Aliyah proudly exclaimed, confidently.
"Where does all this confidence come from?" I muttered.
"What did you just say?" Aliyah shot me a cold look.
"I mean, life should be full of confidence, right? Yes, you are absolutely right, so what should I do?" I covered my slip-up quickly.
"Well," Aliyah pondered, "how about killing all the soldiers outside?"
"Ha?" I raised an eyebrow. "What did you just say? Kill all the soldiers outside?"
"Yes, there are only a few hundred or a few thousand of them. Why not get rid of the obstacles?" she suggested casually.
"Uh…" I wiped the sweat off my forehead, wondering if the little girl in front of me was actually Nero, the infamous Roman emperor.
"Why, are you joking with me? Kill them all? Do you want to become a fugitive on the continent? Are you really using your brain?" I protested.
"What about you? You casually blew up a warship with people on board. You think that's acceptable?" she retorted.
"Alright, brother, Aliyah, both of you violent individuals, stop arguing. Let's focus on finding a solution. Can't you see you're equally matched?" Oyado interjected calmly.
Embarrassed, we both turned to Oyado. "You taught her that idiom?" I asked.
"Um... yeah," Oyado admitted, and we marveled at how slick she had become in such a short time. It seemed Oyado was about to join us in bantering.
"Alright, Oyado, what do you think we should do?" I asked.
"It's simple. Brother, you should impersonate one of the mercenaries from the Cold Wind Mercenaries and provoke a conflict with the army. This will incite chaos between the mercenaries and the army in the city. While they're distracted, we can sneak away on a boat, and the army won't bother with us," she suggested.
"Well, that's indeed a solution," I nodded, "but it won't be easy. After all, we are not natives here and aren't aware of some common practices on this continent, such as the usual conflict between mercenaries and the army."
"It's easy. First, disguise yourself as a mercenary and attack the soldiers, then disguise as a soldier and attack the mercenaries. Simple, right?" Oyado answered nonchalantly.
Although Oyado's plan was effective, it was surprising coming from such a young girl. Lately, cute little girls seemed to be turning out to be either assassins or masterminds. Even the old lady eyeing the cute girls was part of a strange trend.
"Okay, I'll give it a try... and while I do that, please try to contact Uncle Monty and the others. They probably don't know what to do in this situation," I instructed.
"Leave it to us. We're not as clueless as you," Aliyah boasted confidently, making me worry about Monty Uncle.
Leaving the cabin, I teleported to a deserted alley and once again transformed into a Cold Wind Mercenary. Although I couldn't recall the man's name, I noticed he was wearing clothes similar to mine, which made it easier to mimic his appearance.
Walking out onto the street, I saw soldiers conducting a search for the wanted criminal, possibly the one I had disguised as before.
I had no idea who that wanted criminal was, but it seemed they wouldn't find him here. I had to act cautiously this time. After a quick survey, I targeted a soldier who had strayed from the group.
He intended to check a nearby small restaurant alone, unaware of the danger in being alone. I walked up behind him confidently.
"Hey! Make way, I'm going in," I demanded, causing him to turn and confront me.
"Who do you think you're talking to? You want to die?" he threatened.
"I don't know about the others, but I know one person here who wants to die!" I retorted, swiftly using a thief skill, 'Kidney Strike,' plunging the hilt of the blade into his abdomen.
His eyes widened in pain, struggling to speak as he fell to the ground. Despite wearing armor, it wasn't heavy enough to withstand the attack. The surrounding mercenaries watched him fall, then resumed their meals as if nothing happened.
"Boy, carry this man through the kitchen's back door," a man who seemed to be the manager ordered.
"Eat your fill, but you've stirred up trouble by hitting the army. Teach these freeloaders a lesson," he chuckled.
"Thanks," I grinned as I carried the soldier towards the kitchen's back door. After ensuring he was drugged and asleep until the next day, I discreetly disposed of him in a nearby trash bin on the roof, hoping he'd have a peaceful rest.
"Alright, next…" I unsheathed the soldier's sword, ready for what was to come. "It's party time."
