"I say... little kid, how much do you charge?"
The little devil in front of me was carrying two thin, elongated shells on his back, looking somewhat like a type of marine creature, perhaps similar to a clam. However, I was taught biology and mathematics back in the day, so I couldn't quite pinpoint the exact type of organism it was.
Although I initially wanted to decline when this little guy asked, just because you want to be a tour guide doesn't mean I have to let you. But then again, I thought, having this little guy as a tour guide might have its benefits.
Firstly, this little guy is young and won't overthink things. Moreover, I refuse to believe that such a small child could be an enemy.
However, this little guy had quite a strange name, just one word - Clam.
"You, your speaking skills are really poor."
Mary said sarcastically beside me.
"Oh, come on, don't try to compare me with you, strange lady. I am an honest person!"
"Are you really?"
"That doubtful tone of yours is not right. We've been colleagues for so long, you should have a profound understanding of my upright, pure, and positive nature, right? Hey, why are you vomiting?"
"Fine, fine, you win."
Mary grimaced at me while gagging, and as a pure and kind person, how could I lower myself to her level?
Of course, I returned the disdainful gesture with both hands.
"So... do you need a guide?"
The little devil asked quietly.
"Yes, we do. Anyone got a map?"
Dale intervened decisively, handing him a small piece of gold coin he broke off.
The little devil's eyes lit up when he saw the gold coin. He took it, examined it, and then bit it.
Strange, do clams have teeth?
Well, since they've all turned humanoid, whether clams have teeth is not something worth pondering over.
"Sure, I'll go get maps for you right away!"
The little devil suddenly became proactive.
"We'll go with you, after all, you've taken our money."
"Fair enough, come along, sirs!"
With that, this guy bounced off towards the street.
We glanced at each other, then all eyes fell on Dale.
"Hey, what is with that look?"
Dale felt uneasy under our scrutiny, frowning.
"Well, nothing. Let's go."
I hurriedly said, pointing at the little devil.
"Unless you want to waste the money."
-------------------------------------------------
Along the way, the little devil fulfilled his duties as a guide. We mentioned that we came from the neighboring city and had never been to this city before, and the little guy started chattering away about all sorts of things regarding this city.
"Maybe sirs are unaware, but our city, Lake Hai City, was one of the first five major cities constructed. Initially, it was only the size of two blocks, but now, it has grown to be a large city with over 30 blocks."
Indeed, this city was significantly larger than the one we had just entered, at the very least, we couldn't see from one end to the other at a glance. Moreover, this city had many peculiar buildings, lacking windows and such, giving off a monument-like vibe.
"Wei Li Ke Hai City is mainly divided into three visitable areas: the exhibition area, the commercial area, and the memorial area. The last area is the stationed location of the Deep Sea Navy, which is inaccessible."
"The Deep Sea Navy? Stationed in this city, they must be elite."
Hei Luoli asked silently.
"The lady is right, the Deep Sea Navy stationed here is the strongest legion in the Aquatic Tribe Army, far superior to the shallow sea navy. However, compared to the Ocean King's Blue Dragon Squad, the Deep Sea Navy still falls short, but luckily they have a sizable number."
As we spoke, we had already arrived at the commercial area.
Compared to the desolate previous city, this place was bustling with activity, bustling with people, and some particularly large figures from the Aquatic Tribe, looking very strange.
On the streets here, you could see patrolling soldiers at any time, with a much higher level of management.
"You see, those are the shallow sea navy, not so many in number, mainly responsible for city defense and daily law enforcement. The Deep Sea Navy usually train in the barracks and won't come out unless something significant happens."
It seems we have yet to directly confront the true strength of the Aquatic Tribe; they are more formidable than we imagined.
"Forget about that, why don't you talk about the good things in Wei Li Ke Hai City?"
Taishi Xi quickly interjected.
Her actions undoubtedly meant she had noticed something. Sure enough, as I looked carefully, two patrolling soldiers not far away were glancing in our direction; most likely, they overheard our conversation just now.
"Oh, that's right, let me first take you all to get a map, and then we can try all the delicious things around here."
The little ghost nodded, leading us towards a nearby shop.
"Hey, be careful."
Blanche suddenly frowned.
"Well, I'm not sure if it's just my imagination, but I feel like a lot of people are watching us."
"Huh?"
All of us showed puzzled expressions.
I looked towards the two soldiers who had observed us just now, but they were no longer there. I scanned the surroundings, but there was no sign of any soldiers.
"Blanche, did you really sense someone watching us?"
"Yes, it feels very similar to when we were fighting the dark elves in the forest before, but now the gaze is more pronounced, obviously the other side's stealth abilities are not as good as the dark elves."
"To think something like this is happening..."
I glanced at the shop where the little ghost had just entered and smiled.
"It seems like things will get interesting, but wouldn't it be boring otherwise? Let's go! Let's see what unfolds."
