Leaving our submarine-type airship, the shrimp-headed individual swam towards the city without looking back, as if afraid we would change our minds.
It's truly a case of suspecting others based on one's lowly perspective. Are we that kind of people? We made it clear that lobsters are not our preference or anything. Of course, even if they were, we wouldn't eat them. You've evolved into a humanoid now, who would still eat you.
Nevertheless, we didn't linger around either, who knows if this guy will come back with a bunch of guards to deal with us. Though we are not afraid, it's still someone else's territory after all, so it's best to keep a low profile.
As we waited for the submarine airship to depart for the city on the other side and dock, we now have a new problem to solve.
Yes, the art of absorbing water.
Although most of us onboard are familiar with this technique, many of us are using it for the first time. Therefore, our attention turned to one person, Blanche.
Well, I thought Oyado could too, but according to her, she only knows the theory because it's inherited memories, so like us, she's a complete novice.
But Blanche is different. This individual's age could very well surpass all of us combined, so they have a wealth of experience.
Of course, I'm talking about using the art of water absorption.
"Uh, this thing is really hard to teach."
Blanche's face was filled with bitterness.
"I also took a while to learn back then... I find it strange. Why do you all understand but struggle to use it? Isn't it usually linked?"
"..."
We looked at each other and chuckled.
"We don't follow the usual paths."
"Alright, alright, I give up on you all. I'll go in first, you figure it out."
With that, Blanche headed towards the exit of the airship.
For normal access underwater, Dale had set up an isolation chamber at the entrance and exit of the airship. As soon as Blanche entered it, the inner isolation door closed first, followed by water pouring in.
Silently muttering an incantation inside, Blanche emitted a blue light, and a fish gill-like structure slowly emerged from her neck.
Well, it looked like she had a few openings on her neck, and it seemed so painful that it made me subconsciously touch my own neck.
Looking around, everyone was touching their necks; the scene must have been quite intense.
Sure, forcibly altering body structures – I could grow wings, and Aliyah could sprout wolf ears... but this sudden opening in the neck was truly hard to watch; wouldn't water pour in?
By this time, the outer door had already opened, and Blanche swiftly swam out, reaching our window.
But then, I noticed another issue – yes, we couldn't speak underwater.
We couldn't emit sound waves like whales or talk directly; it was impractical.
While those of us with built-in terminals could type to communicate, Oyado and the others couldn't.
"Alright, let's give it a try. But first, understand that once we go out, we'll swim straight towards the city. Only then can we talk or something, got it."
"Ah."
Seeing everyone nod, we then took turns exiting through the exit.
When it was my turn, I have to say, the sensation of having a few openings on my neck was really stimulating; it felt a bit itchy but I dared not touch it.
But the only benefit was that I felt like I could breathe underwater, not sure if there were some changes in my body's structure as well.
After all of us had exited, Dale pressed a button, and the airship slowly descended to the seabed, blending in with the surrounding scenery.
It was indeed a convenient mode of transportation, wow, truly technology changing lives.
But the only thing that surprised me was that underwater we didn't feel much water pressure, not sure if it was due to our level or if we had unknowingly adapted to it. Of course, it could also be the effect of the Water Absorption Technique, but that's a topic for another time.
Luckily, the light emitted by the city over there was still very visible, ensuring that we wouldn't get lost underwater. With our accelerated rush, we quickly approached the city.
However, getting in required some effort; as soon as we arrived nearby, we saw quite a few guards patrolling around.
Troublesome, isn't it? It's like they're presenting two options right in front of me:
One, sneak in.
Two, go in head-on.
But neither option seemed suitable for our group, and in this situation, even if we attempted to sneak in, we might inadvertently end up going in head-on anyway.
Just as I was about to say something, Blanche suddenly swam directly towards the gate and then swam in!
The guards just glanced at her and then ignored her.
Goodness, what was going on?
I looked at the others beside me, and everyone had a slightly embarrassed expression.
Well, I had overestimated the guards' intelligence; indeed, maybe fish brains were really that small.
So, our group swam directly towards the city.
However, just as we were about to pass through, suddenly, a guard stopped me.
He reached out his hand towards me and stared at me.
What was this all about? Did he want to shake hands with me?
That couldn't be it, right?
But what was this for? Did he need some kind of pass from me? Didn't Blanche just pass through directly? Why did I need a pass?
The others behind me also stopped and looked at the guard.
And the guard looked at me.
After a while, the guard inexplicably waved his hand, allowing me to pass.
How strange!
I quickly swam into the city, finally able to breathe the fresh air.
I looked at Blanche beside me, hoping she had an explanation.
Could it be that these guards only have a seven-second memory?
"Uh... actually, they sensed you were quite strong and thought you might be a deserter from the frontline, so they were just checking if you had the implanted directional locator on you."
"Damn, the technology of the Aquatic Tribe is really amazing, isn't it? They check for that too?"
"No choice."
Blanche shrugged.
"I didn't recall it for a moment, although I've been to underwater cities in the past; that was hundreds of years ago, who remembers?"
Isn't there a better way to reveal your age?
Just then, suddenly, in the distance, there were sudden loud noises!
Turning around, on the other side of the city, a huge iron pillar had actually pierced into the enchantment, and water slowly began to gush in!
Oh my, we haven't even started making a fuss yet, and someone's already causing trouble? Not simple.
"Let's go!" I looked back at everyone behind me and hurriedly said.
"We are going to join in the fun!"
