Chapter 12 We're Not Bad People

Outside the coastal city, the airship first rose into the air and then accelerated towards the sea. Once we passed about 100 meters off the coastline, the airship suddenly descended and landed with a splash in the sea. The rest of us didn't feel much, but Hei Luoli and the others were probably in the sea for the first time, as I could sense the tension in their expressions when the airship plunged into the water. It wasn't until our airship... no, our submarine now, started to descend steadily underwater that their faces slightly calmed down.

"Oh, wow!"

But not long after we submerged, this group of people started leaning against the windows to look at the scenery. They were acting just like children... Well, I guess I can understand.

However, they could only enjoy the view for now. Once we dove deeper, everything below would be pitch black, and nothing could be seen. While we all knew how to use the water breathing technique, it still required mana consumption. I couldn't keep using the skill all the way down, could I? It would be too tiring. And why not make use of the convenience of a submarine, which also had decent weapons on board? Of course, the only weapons we could use now were the conventional firearms, forget about those electromagnetic cannons; they wouldn't work underwater.

"I'm not sure if it will work, but I've adjusted the optical camouflage on the outer side of the airship to mimic a whale's appearance. I've also emitted sounds similar to those made when whales are hunting. Hopefully, the average Aquatic Tribe won't come near." Dale said.

"Wait, how do you know the sound made when whales are hunting?" I asked.

Dale scratched his head and shrugged. "I used samples of this creature's sound to create it. It should be close enough."

With that, Dale pressed a button, and a wall next to the room opened to reveal a shrimp person locked in a cage.

"You bastards! We will exterminate all of you humans for sure!"

This guy was still shouting. Wasn't he afraid we could turn up the heat and make him turn red? But Dale was straightforward; he pressed a button, a flash of electricity followed, and the shrimp person immediately started screaming.

"Ahh! You... Ah!!"

Then the door on the wall slowly closed.

Everyone looked silently at Dale, who was calmly sipping tea.

"He'll probably quiet down in a bit," Dale remarked.

Hey, are you sure he's not dead?

Meanwhile, the view outside the window gradually darkened, indicating that we had reached a deeper level.

We continued to descend slowly along the seafloor, and soon there was no light around us. The screens inside the airship changed to display a virtual terrain map.

"This is the scanned image; we'll navigate based on this. After all, we're disguised as a whale, and whales don't use spotlights," Dale explained thoughtfully.

Next, he pressed a button on his controller, and the wall opened again, revealing the shrimp person inside struggling for life, their HP bar almost depleted.

This guy was truly ruthless.

"Alright, now tell me where your main base is located," Dale strode up to the person, looking like the leader of the villains.

"I... I won't say anything..."

The other person gritted their teeth.

Damn, why do I feel like the other person is so righteous and we are just a bunch of bad guys.

I looked at Oyado, who just shrugged.

"Big brother, this is no longer my problem now. If I interrogate him again, he'll die."

"I'm not asking you to interrogate. I just thought if we had some truth serum or something for him to drink and spill some intelligence."

"Well..."

Oyado pondered.

"Although I know the formula, without the materials, I can't make it right now."

"True..."

I wish we had gathered some intel first before bringing him down here.

"Does he have anything on him? Like a ring? Could it be that even in this dark abyss, he can still discern his location and make his way back to their headquarters?"

"Perhaps."

Mary shrugged.

"We searched him earlier; apart from weapons, there was nothing much on him. I wonder why he sneaked into the city like this."

"..."

Nothing on him?

"Could it be that he already handed over whatever he had to deliver?"

"Perhaps, why were we in such a rush just now?"

Aliyah said discontentedly.

"Maybe it's something on his person..."

Aliyah walked over to the man and stared at him for a while.

"Can we scan his body? There might be something inside him."

Dale nodded, operated a terminal in his hand, and a new screen appeared on the wall, showing the silhouette of a black shrimp-like creature.

Shrimps are actually arthropods with no bones inside them, and with this scan, we could see everything inside the body clearly.

"Oh, there's something inside his pincer."

Hei Luoli pointed at the screen.

"That seems to be something inside."

Indeed, there was a white shadow there. We exchanged glances and turned to look at the shrimp-like creature simultaneously.

He must be getting the chills now, right? Although he doesn't even have hair.

"Um..."

He whispered.

"If I take you to where you want, will you let me go?"

"Ah, you should have done this earlier, such a hassle."

We said in unison.
