After spending a few peaceful days in Eusis, there were no more people left to resist in the city.

The master called for a meeting with all the high officials, and out of curiosity, I went along to listen.

The meeting was about the following: The demon soldiers in the city of Eusis were divided into several groups, taking the hundreds of thousands of enslaved humans to other secondary cities to work as laborers, preparing to transform these human cities into our demon race's own.

Poor Nora was assigned to another city before I could come up with a solution, and we had to part ways again.

I will reply to her later and tell her to see how Vinales behaves after the war is over.

Within a day, the population of Eusis City was nearly emptied. It was once the third largest city for humans, but now only had forty thousand demons and sixty thousand humans.

I originally thought that the master would immediately begin the journey to the next city with such a small number of people. Unexpectedly, the master said in the meeting that she would remain in this city for a month.

The officials and ministers also dispersed to other cities during that meeting, leaving only me and the master, who held power in Eusis City.

-------------------------

In April, the flowers were in full bloom.

The fluttering petals danced in every corner of the city, drifting like snow in the wind, swirling gently like soft feathers, and flying like paper airplanes with the breeze.

Pollen filled the clear sky, reflecting vibrant colors from the evaporating mist after the spring rain.

The streets, untended by anyone, were covered in falling petals. I followed behind the master, jumping over one puddle after another.

Looking up, I could see the tall mountain in the center of Eusis City. The wind had turned the endless plains green, while the trees, which had withered in winter, were now sprouting tender buds.

On top of the three-hundred-meter mountain, there was a magnificent church. I couldn't understand why the church was built in such a place.

But the luxurious bricks and tiles on the church's roof, and the intricately carved stained-glass windows, glittered under the sunlight.

Perhaps it was beautiful, or maybe when the people of Eusis City looked up at it in the sunlight, they felt a sense of holiness, as if surrounded by the light of divine angels.

The master said she would take me to the church to mourn her deceased parents.

Although I couldn't help but wonder if I was meeting her parents, I still had to maintain a solemn demeanor. After all, we were there to commemorate the former king.

We arrived at this strange church.

The soldiers had long been prepared, standing guard at the church doors. When the master arrived, they saluted and pushed open the towering doors, creating a resounding rumble.

The heavy air almost suffocated me. I followed the master inside, where the central hall was lined with brown benches, and gray-white pillars with various peculiar shapes stood on either side. Our gaze was drawn to the ice-blue stained-glass window at the end of the hall, where crystals embedded in it emitted a faint blue light.

So people from this different world also believe in these things.

Following the master to the end of the church, there was a platform resembling a stage in front of the stained-glass window, with a wooden, brown pulpit atop it.

The master clasped her hands in prayer, closing her eyes.

I stood there, not knowing what to do. Should I imitate her?

After a while, the master opened her eyes.

"According to human books, it should be like this."

"Huh?"

The master turned to me and asked.

"It should be correct, right?"

"Probably."

I didn't know what to do in a church either. On Earth, I was not a Christian.

It turned out that the master didn't know how to worship either, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Then why did you come here, master?"

"Our demon race doesn't have ancestral memorial days like humans do. Once someone dies, they're dead. After we've built a grave for them, hardly anyone goes to pay respects anymore. I think human churches are quite beautiful, so I came to see and learn about human customs from books."

"Forget it."

Since even the master was clueless, let's just enjoy ourselves here without worrying about the sense of holiness. I had never been to a church in my previous life, and I didn't believe in gods anyway, so I had no fear of divine retribution.

I took the master's hand, stepped off the stage, and sat together with her on the long wooden bench, looking up at the various stone statues and murals on the walls.

"Master, are you missing the previous Demon King?"

"Well. Although I was only with them for a short thirteen years, it is the most pure and happy memory of my life."

A faint blue light cast onto the master's face, as she stared blankly into the void ahead.

"Since the age of three, I could walk and understand things. I began learning about politics from them, and many ministers praised me as a genius. They believed that I would surpass my parents and become a better Demon Lord in the future."

"Between the ages of five and seven, I traveled with my parents and visited the common people, understanding their sentiments. At the age of nine, I could understand various memorials and became familiar with the affairs of every official."

Truly a genius.

At my age as a human, I probably haven't even finished memorizing the times tables.

"Many trustworthy ministers and officials died in that war, leaving behind only retired elderly people."

It must have been difficult for the young master to ascend to the Demon Lord's throne without anyone's support.

In this world, many high-ranking officials of the Demon Race kingdom, like Heath Relia, have to manage political affairs during peacetime and go to war during times of conflict. Civil and military matters are not separated.

"Civilization will eventually overcome barbarism, and the Demon Race will undergo a transformation."

"What?"

The sudden change of topic caught me off guard, and the master smiled and reached out to pat my head.

"There are only two highly intelligent species in this world, the Demon Race and humans. In order for the Demon Race to establish a foothold in this world, we must change our barbaric nature."

"Master will be able to do it in the future."

After the war, the master will definitely implement reforms for the Demon Race, and the entire race will undergo earth-shaking changes.

I tilted my head and gazed into the master's red eyes. Her hand slid down to gently touch my cheek.

The bewitching blue light reflected upon us, our sight obscured by the approaching face of the master, her red hair brushing against my face, and her lips carrying a moist and warm temperature.
