Standing on the high platform in the center of Your Majesty's palace, wearing a splendid black robe with a golden crown adorning her silver hair, Iris possessed a majestic and alluring aura. With her slightly tempting facial features and rosy lips, she exuded a lazy yet noble air, as if she were the most dazzling presence wherever she went.
"Greetings, Your Majesty!" the soldiers below respectfully kneeled and greeted.
"You may rise," Iris said indifferently, raising her hand. She scanned the soldiers below with satisfaction.
This unit, code-named "Firefly," truly lived up to its reputation as elite warriors.
...
Iris flapped her crimson wings desperately, soaring through the night sky like a phoenix about to take flight. Qizhou and Shizhi followed closely behind, without the slightest trace of slackness.
The members of the "Firefly" unit fell behind, watching helplessly as the figure of Her Majesty grew further and further away, yet still striving to catch up.
Iris suddenly felt her sister's bloodline power weakening alarmingly, as if it could dissipate at any moment.
Her heart tightened. Merice must not be in danger! Regardless of what had happened in the past, Merice had once helped Iris when she was at her weakest. Iris still remembered Merice's kindness.
"I must go faster!" Iris urged herself, even though deep down she knew it was futile. She had already reached her maximum speed, and to go faster would require pushing herself beyond her limits.
Suddenly, Iris felt a heaviness in her chest, followed by a metallic, sweet taste rising to her throat, nearly causing her to spit out blood.
But she held it back, forcing herself to swallow the blood.
"Damn it!" Iris cursed inwardly.
Iris wanted to push beyond her limits in flight speed, but her body couldn't bear it, especially her Blood Wings. Every time she attempted to surge forward, she felt intense pain from her wings.
If damaging her Blood Wings would grant Merice a chance to survive, it would be worth it.
Besides, Iris could use the Black Flame to sprout black spines on her back and gain the ability to fly.
The flapping of her Blood Wings grew increasingly rapid, yet Iris still felt her qi and blood boiling within her.
"Damn it!" Iris couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood.
Qizhou and Shizhi sensed something was wrong and asked anxiously, "Your Majesty, are you alright?"
"It's nothing," Iris wiped off the blood from her lips.
Before long, the Blood Roar appeared in their sight. Without a word, Qizhou swiftly drew the divine gun from his storage space and pulled the trigger with lightning speed.
The armor-piercing bullet shot out from the barrel with a sharp sound, cutting through the air and hitting Blood Roar right in the backside.
Blood Roar, who had just managed to stop the bleeding, now had even more blood flowing due to the hit. The pain was almost unbearable.
"Once I rendezvous with the Allied Forces, I will make sure you vampires suffer a brutal death!" Blood Roar shouted in anger. He regretted not having more tentacles, as that would have saved him from this miserable escape.
Tentacles silently covered his injured area. From this battle, vampires left an impression of vulgarity, despicability, shamelessness, and treachery in his mind. These words couldn't fully describe them.
Shizhi silently glanced at Qizhou, her expression devoid of any emotions but her eyes filled with silent exasperation. This level of exasperation was expressed through her body language, as she had never seen Qizhou do such a thing before.
However, Shizhi was well aware of the kind of person Qizhou was, and this did not create any negative emotions in Shizhi towards Qizhou.
Qizhou coughed and cleared his throat twice before saying, "Without tentacles obstructing, it can cause harm."
It must be said that Qizhou's accuracy with the divine gun was truly impressive.
Nothing other than familiarity with one's own hands. Privately, Qizhou had not hesitated to handle the divine gun many times, and his marksmanship was definitely stronger than the soldiers of the "Firefly" troops.
In order to achieve such precision, he undoubtedly needed a lot of practice. The ammunition Qizhou used was all transported by the Sun-Moon Empire, and the production was done by his skeletal soldiers.
Iris did not feel surprised by Qizhou's behavior. Qizhou was a sorcerer who kept up with the trends of the times. His thinking was not rigid, and in his understanding, as long as there were new and interesting things, he was willing to research them.
In short, the idea was that he could do without, but he must not be incapable.
Shizhi noticed significant cracks where Iris' blood wings connected to her back, and blood was flowing along those cracks. Concerned, Shizhi said, "Your Majesty, your blood wings..."
"It's fine. Exchanging a pair of blood wings for my cousin's life is worth it," Iris shook her head.
"But..." Shizhi wanted to say more, but Iris spread her wings and swiftly soared forward.
Blood Howl watched Iris, Qizhou, and Shizhi pursue him, gnashing his teeth and saying, "Damn it. When I return to the Alliance camp, I will make you pay a heavy price!"
Soon, Iris and Blood Howl were flying side by side, staring at each other.
Blood Howl glared at Iris with resentment. He wished to tear the girl apart immediately, but there was a familiar aura emanating from her, causing him to hesitate and refrain from attacking recklessly.
"Don't get in my way!" Iris glanced coldly at Blood Howl.
Blood Howl was not afraid of Iris. He was very familiar with the aura emitted by this vampire girl, but for a moment, he couldn't remember.
To verify his suspicions, he immediately reached out a tentacle towards Iris, intending to tear off a piece of her clothes.
Seeing this, Iris summoned the Silver Wing Spear and stabbed at the tentacle. The Silver Wing Spear shimmered with a cold light, incomparably sharp, easily piercing through Blood Howl's tentacle. However, Blood Howl had already torn off a piece of Iris' sleeve with his other tentacles.
Blood Howl yelled in pain, retracting his tentacles, giving Iris a fierce glare, and then quickly sped towards the Alliance camp.
This scene left Qizhou and Shizhi somewhat bewildered. What did it mean for Blood Howl to tear off a piece of Your Majesty's sleeve at the cost of his tentacles being pierced?
"Fetish..."
Qizhou and Shizhi had the same thought at the same time. They couldn't understand what Blood Howl was up to.
Iris simply felt that Blood Howl was a lunatic, using tentacles to pull at her sleeve. However, Iris couldn't be bothered to dwell on such matters. The immediate priority was to find Merice.
Using her bloodline sensing, Iris located where Merice was and charged forward without hesitation.
Qizhou and Shizhi exchanged a glance and quickly caught up, afraid that Blood Howl might turn the tables.
After a moment, Iris came to a stop at the location where Merice was. The area was surrounded by piles of soil, and Merice lay amidst the messy soil. Her body was covered in mud and dirt accumulated together, making her look exceptionally filthy.
"Cousin!" Iris knelt beside Merice, ignoring the dirt, and urgently said, "Wake up! Cousin, can you hear me?"
Merice showed no response. She seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep, but her fair skin indicated that she had not lost consciousness. At least, she was still alive, otherwise her fair skin wouldn't be so delicate and hydrated.
Iris took off the Dragonwood Jade Pendant from her waist and placed it in Merice's hand, making her hold it.
In an instant, the Dragonwood Jade Pendant emitted a green light. A warm stream flowed into Merice's palm through the pendant, slowly repairing the severe injuries on her body.
Seeing this, Iris finally felt relieved.
Afterwards, she held Merice in her arms and brought the vampire warrior back home.
