Seeing Iris unconscious, Bai Yan stopped her actions, turned around and left the room to find Lilia, asking her to come and help treat Iris's injuries.
It didn't take long for Bai Yan to find Lilia.
"Mother has lost a lot of blood and she has fainted again. Grandma, please go and check on her quickly," Bai Yan said anxiously.
Upon hearing this, Lilia hurriedly walked towards Iris's room. When she pushed open the door, she saw that the bedsheets were already soaked with blood, and the bed itself was covered in the scent of blood.
"What happened to Iris? How did she get such a big wound on her leg? Even her old scars were torn open," Lilia frowned, worry evident on her face as she stared at the gruesome wound on Iris's leg, with blood continuously flowing out.
Lilia then took out a delicate porcelain bottle from her spatial ring and placed it inverted on Iris's wound. A pungent smell of medicine filled the air, and the bleeding slowly stopped.
She then began to dress the wound, while asking Bai Yan, "How did Iris get injured?"
Bai Yan pointed to Mei Weisi lying on the ground and said, "It should be Mei Weisi who did it. Fortunately, I came back in time, otherwise her tendons would have been severed and she would never be able to walk again."
After hearing Bai Yan's account, Lilia understood the situation.
"Bai Yan, go and fetch Candace, have her treat Mei Weisi. When she wakes up, I will take care of this matter myself," Lilia coldly commanded.
"Alright, I will go now," Bai Yan nodded and immediately ran out.
Candace, upon hearing that the princess had been injured again, rushed over immediately.
Seeing the miserable state of Iris, Candace couldn't help but gasp in shock. She couldn't imagine that it was done by the princess.
"Candace, treat Mei Weisi's wound. After treating the wound, bring a set of clean clothes and bedsheets. Bai Yan, go and fetch a basin of hot water," Lilia instructed.
"Yes."
Candace nodded and immediately went to attend to the tasks.
Bai Yan also left immediately to fetch the hot water.
After dressing Mei Weisi's wound, Candace used magic to check her condition and found that Mei Weisi was not in serious danger. She then reported to Lilia, "The princess is fine."
"That's good!" Lilia nodded.
Candace took a brand new dress and bedsheets and placed them on the table, saying, "The maid has taken the princess away."
"I know," Lilia nodded gently, indicating her understanding.
Candace left the room with Mei Weisi in her arms.
Bai Yan entered the room carrying a basin of hot water. She placed it down and handed a towel to Lilia, before quietly leaving the room, leaving it to Lilia and Iris.
Lilia wiped the blood from Iris's mouth with the towel, and then used ice magic to create two ice packs to apply on Iris's cheeks.
Looking at Iris's swollen face, Lilia sighed softly, feeling extremely sorry for her. She gently placed her finger on Iris's forehead and murmured, "Iris, do you really hate me this much? Mei Weisi has tortured you like this, why do you endure the pain silently, rather than let me stop her? Could it be that you truly despise me and don't want to see me?"
After speaking, Lilia's palm lightly caressed Iris's forehead, tears sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto Iris's face.
Lilia wiped away her tears and continued to clean the blood stains on Iris's legs, then changed her into fresh bedsheets and clothes.
Lilia stood up slowly, laid Iris flat on the bed, covered her with a blanket, and then tidied up the room. She placed a chair by her daughter's side and quietly watched her weak face.
"I know you hate me and despise me. But, I hope you won't harm yourself. Little Bai Yan and Little Bai Ying are still waiting for you to take care of them. If you get hurt again, they will be very sad," Lilia softly held Iris's small hand and whispered.
Only when Iris was unconscious, could Lilia talk to her and accompany her properly.
Lilia took care of Iris until late into the night, when the sky began to get brighter, and then reluctantly left.
She was afraid that if Iris saw her by her side, she would feel disgusted, so she didn't dare to stay for too long and hurriedly left.
...
The morning sunlight shone on Iris' face as she blinked her long eyelashes and slowly opened her eyes.
"Hiss!"
As soon as she moved, she let out a roar of pain. It hurt so much that she couldn't help but take a breath of cold air. Her legs throbbed with a burning pain, as if someone had brutally pierced her skin with a needle, causing her whole body to tremble uncontrollably.
She tried hard to lift her right leg, attempting to move freely, but her left foot couldn't exert any strength at all. Her leg felt as heavy as lead and couldn't be lifted, and her right foot was also numb and caused piercing pain when moved.
"Ah~~~~~~~~~~"
She had a painful expression on her face, enduring the pain without making a sound, just biting her teeth tightly.
Gradually, Iris adapted to the pain and tried to move her right leg, but unfortunately, it was still not flexible at all.
"Well~~~~~" Iris sighed helplessly.
"How are you feeling? Have you recovered?" Bai Zhuang entered the room holding Bai Ying, and as soon as he saw Iris awake, he couldn't wait to ask.
"I can't be killed anyway." Iris's tone was extremely dejected, even her voice had a hint of laziness.
"Mom, could you stop being so depressed all the time? No matter what difficulties you encounter, you have to get through them." Bai Zhuang said in a slightly annoyed tone when he saw Iris in such a dejected state.
"Yingying~~~~~" Bai Ying called out beside them, hoping that Iris could cheer up and not always be so dejected.
"Let it be, Mom, would you like some barbecue? We just bought it with your money." Bai Zhuang said with a smile.
"Okay." Iris nodded.
"Yingying~~~~~" Bai Ying cheered happily.
"Not for you, go drink your milk." Bai Zhuang said to Bai Ying.
"Yingying~~~~~" Bai Ying pouted with a grievance.
Then Bai Zhuang and Iris had barbecue, drank wine, and chatted.
Bai Ying looked at Bai Zhuang with a resentful gaze. It could only hold a milk bottle and sip it mouth by mouth.
"You don't even have teeth yet, so you can't eat barbecue." Bai Zhuang said while eating barbecue.
"Yingying~~~~~" Bai Ying looked at Bai Zhuang with a pout.
Breakfast ended in a peaceful atmosphere.
...
Meanwhile, Mei Weisi knelt before Lilia, receiving her reprimand.
Lilia looked at Mei Weisi with a gloomy face, not saying a word, her eyes filled with chilling horror.
Mei Weisi lowered her head, not daring to say a word.
"Who told you to take a dagger and scratch Iris' leg? To swell her face and ruin the healing scar on her leg? And even try to sever Iris' Achilles tendon," Lilia suddenly questioned Mei Weisi in a stern voice.
"I... I just wanted to seek revenge for my grandmother, without knowing that Iris wasn't the culprit..." Mei Weisi lowered her head, her voice as low as a mosquito's hum, barely audible if one didn't listen carefully.
Anger flashed in Lilia's eyes as she raised her hand and slapped Mei Weisi's cheek.
Mei Weisi's face instantly had five bright red finger marks.
Another slap landed on the other side of Mei Weisi's face, leaving her cheek bright red. A trace of blood even flowed from the corner of Mei Weisi's mouth, as a cut appeared on her lip, making the blood flow down her mouth, giving her a strangely enchanting look.
"Even if Iris did commit a terrible mistake, it's not your place to discipline her, let alone punish her! You and Iris are peers, not her elders. If you were to sever Ying's Achilles tendon, she would never be able to stand up for the rest of her life. You would be committing a crime against your own kin, do you understand?" Lilia looked at Mei Weisi seriously, asked coldly.
Mei Weisi was stunned. She never expected her aunt to say such things, and was at a loss for words.
"What? Didn't you understand what I said?" Lilia gave Mei Weisi a cold glance and asked.
"Niece... Niece... Niece understands, please punish me, Aunt." Mei Weisi was scared and immediately kowtowed to admit her mistake.
Lilia looked at Mei Weisi, snorted coldly, and said, "You have three days to seek Iris' forgiveness, otherwise you will receive three hundred lashes! Three months of confinement."
Mei Weisi trembled at the words, quickly kowtowing and admitting her guilt, not daring to have any objections.
"Alright, get up." Lilia waved her hand.
"Aunt Xie, thank you," Mei Weisi said as she got up from the ground and rubbed her swollen cheek, which was red from Lilya's blows. "I'll take my leave, niece."
"Go ahead, the countdown of three days begins," Lilya glanced at Mei Weisi.
Mei Weisi nodded and turned to walk out of the room.
Lilya returned to her bedroom and lay on the bed to rest, as she had been taking care of Iris all night.
Mei Weisi walked out of the room, with many of the bruises on her face already faded. She covered her swollen face and walked towards Iris' room.
If Iris was innocent, she herself would be guilty of harming her own relatives. If Iris was guilty, it wasn't her place to punish her.
Seeing Iris chatting happily with the snake woman, she didn't bother them. Upon careful thought, could that snake woman be Bai Jian?
"That is indeed a possibility!" Mei Weisi whispered to herself.
Mei Weisi didn't go into the room, as she felt the need to buy some gifts for Iris to show her remorse, without wanting to cause any misunderstandings.
With that, Mei Weisi quietly left.
