Baiyu wandered aimlessly on the street, dragging her tail. She planned to buy some barbecue for Iris to satisfy her cravings.

"Baiyu, do you want to try our freshly baked strawberry cake? It's delicious," the owner of the cake shop greeted Baiyu with a smile.

"No, thanks," Baiyu grinned and declined the offer.

"Oh, come on, Baiyu, just give it a try. Our cakes are the best in the imperial city," the shop owner persisted.

"I said no, so it's a no," Baiyu laughed mischievously, then ran off quickly.

"This girl is quite mischievous," the shop owner shook her head and smiled bitterly.

Over the past two months, Baiyu had become acquainted with the merchants in the imperial city. She was the only snake woman in the entire vampire's royal city, so everyone knew her. Moreover, she was the only summoned creature of the Queen, and she was beautiful and adorable. Everyone looked at her with respect and indulgence. Anyone who dared to bully her would be disrespecting the Queen, which was a death wish.

Baiyu roamed the streets, relying on the reputation of Lilia. As for why she didn't use Iris's reputation, the main reason was because Iris had the reputation of killing her grandmother, which had spread throughout the vampire race. Such a heinous crime went against the principles of justice, especially since the vampire race valued filial piety.

The younger generation of vampires must adhere to filial piety and follow their parents' wishes. Otherwise, they would be severely punished. That's why the younger generation of vampires had great respect for their parents.

If Baiyu had used Iris's reputation, she would probably be treated as a pariah. Though the warrant for Iris's arrest had been revoked by Lilia, in order to clear Iris's name, they had to capture the real culprit and present evidence to prove her innocence. But chaos and the existence of demons were still considered legends and lacked convincing evidence. If Lilia announced Iris's innocence without producing evidence, it would easily be seen as favoritism towards her daughter and cause strong public backlash.

Baiyu understood the difficulties Lilia faced in knowing the truth but being unable to prove her daughter's innocence. She could also understand Iris since she had spent those anxious days with her.

Baiyu no longer tried to mediate between Lilia and Iris. She only wanted her mother to be happy.

At this moment, Meiweis passed by Baiyu in her battle uniform. She glanced at the snake woman with her peripheral vision and noticed the silver bat pendant hanging from her neck, so she didn't think much of it. If not for the pendant, Meiweis would have taken Baiyu down immediately as she wouldn't allow such a dangerous person to lurk in the royal city.

Having the pendant signified that Baiyu was allowed to move freely, so Meiweis had no reason to stop her. She then hurried to the palace as her task today was to report to the Queen.

Baiyu didn't notice Meiweis and simply waited for the barbecue. After a while, the enticing smell filled the air, arousing her appetite. She packed up the food and then went to buy some drinks.

Meiweis arrived at the palace but couldn't find her aunt. She went to Lilia's bedroom and saw her aunt lying on a soft bed, with silver hair covering half of her face. She had bandages around her limbs. Surprised, Meiweis asked, "Aunt, how did you get injured?"

Iris slowly opened her eyes, and her crimson pupils met Meiweis's light blue ones.

"Iris, you dare to show up in front of me?" Meiweis grabbed her collar and asked coldly.

"Why? Do you want to kill me?" Iris's voice was lazy and cold, sounding extremely piercing.

"Kill you? Hah, I won't let you die so easily. I still have something to settle with you concerning grandmother," Meiweis curved her lips into a cold smile, her gaze becoming bloodthirsty. With that, she exerted pressure on Iris's neck with her right hand.

Iris's breath became more and more difficult, and she felt herself choking. She did not resist, just quietly looked at Meiweis.

A sense of suffocation spread throughout Iris's body, and a pained expression gradually appeared on her face. Her body began to stiffen.

At this moment, Meiwei Si let go of her hand.

"Cough... cough..." she coughed violently, Iris' face turned pale, her chest heaved.

"I won't let you die so easily." Meiwei Si coldly looked at Iris and said in a sinister tone.

Iris didn't respond, appearing as if she was willing to be butchered.

Seeing Iris' submissive appearance, Meiwei Si became even angrier and raised her left palm.

"Slap!"

A loud slap landed on Iris' face, leaving a bright red imprint of five fingers on her fair cheek.

"Hmph, this slap is for your deceased grandmother's lesson." Meiwei Si said viciously.

"Slap!"

Following right after was another loud slap on the other side of Iris' face, leaving another red mark on her face.

"This slap is because you didn't respect filial piety and committed such rebellious acts, causing embarrassment to our royal family." Meiwei Si sneered and, while speaking, lifted her right hand again to deliver a third slap.

"Bang!"

The third slap landed on the other side of Iris' face, her body trembled, and a trace of bloody rainbow flowed from the corner of her mouth.

Iris didn't cry out in pain, nor did she struggle, allowing Meiwei Si to keep slapping her face mercilessly.

Iris was well aware that her magic was sealed, her body was injured, and struggling would be futile. She could only let Meiwei Si trample on her as she pleased.

Then Meiwei Si took out a dagger and cut a bloodstain on her bare foot, the blood flowing out staining her fair and slender legs crimson, a horrifying sight.

Next, Meiwei Si roughly tore open the bandages on Iris' legs, picking apart her healed scars bit by bit with the dagger.

Her actions were extremely rough, even tedious, but it was evident from Meiwei Si's deep grudge.

Then, Meiwei Si repeated her actions, cutting open the bandages on Iris' other leg and damaging the scars.

Iris frowned in pain, but still didn't make a sound, allowing Meiwei Si to handle her legs.

Blood continuously dripped along the scars, soaking the white sheets.

Looking at the blood, Meiwei Si felt a sense of satisfaction. This blood was her tribute to her grandmother, and all of this was thanks to Iris.

At this moment, Meiwei Si's hatred for Iris deepened.

"Iris, although I can't decide your life or death, I can make sure you forever lie in bed, unable to move for the rest of your life." Meiwei Si said each word slowly.

After speaking, she prepared to use the dagger to sever Iris' tendons, rendering her unable to walk anymore.

"Mom, I bought barbecue and drinks today with my own money, not using grandmother's money, so you can eat without worry." Just at this moment, Baijuan pushed open the door and entered, carrying things in her hand as she walked in and spoke.

When she saw Meiwei Si about to sever Iris' tendons, Meiwei Si stopped and turned her head, staring directly at Baijuan with her crimson eyes.

Baijuan threw the bag in her hand and pounced directly at Meiwei Si, not allowing anyone to harm Iris.

She pinned Meiwei Si to the ground, her white tail tightly coiled around Meiwei Si's waist, and she bit into Meiwei Si's arm with her fangs, tearing a bloody wound.

"Hissss!"

Meiwei Si cried out in pain, her eyes widened in horror as she looked at Baijuan.

The toxin invaded her body, causing her arm to lose strength.

Meiwei Si unwillingly, she unwilling to be defeated by this snake woman. She exerted her last bit of strength, using her knee to strike Baijuan. Baijuan couldn't dodge in time and was hit in the abdomen, stumbling and falling to the ground.

"Perish! Long Yin Trident!"

Meiwei Si quickly got up, raised both hands, and the magic power within her surged, forming a trident in her hands.

She gripped the trident and fiercely threw it, targeting Baijuan.

Baijuan covered her head, thinking that she was done for. But unexpectedly, Baijuan's scales suddenly became translucent as layer upon layer of scales covered her entire body, making her look like a statue.

The trident thrown by Meiwei Si struck Baijuan's body, but didn't harm her at all, not even the scales. The trident disappeared without a trace.

"Dragon scales? How could a snake have dragon scales?" Meiwei Si looked incredulous. She couldn't understand why this snake woman had dragon scales.

Bai Juan saw that she was fine and went up to fight Me Wei Si. Only by doing so could she prevent her from using magic, otherwise she would only end up getting beaten.

The two wrestled with each other, and Bai Juan's body was unusually tough. Even when Me Wei Si used Elemental Magic on her, it caused no harm, only leaving a few shallow bruises. But it was different for Me Wei Si, she was hit to the point of spitting blood, staggered a few steps, and sat on the ground in a very sorry state.

"I don't believe that there's anything that can't harm a monster like you," Me Wei Si said through gritted teeth.

With that, she suddenly stood up and aimed to strike Bai Juan in her weak spot.

Bai Juan was also stubborn and didn't dodge or evade, instead she went straight at Me Wei Si, exchanging punches and kicks, fighting fiercely.

Gradually, Me Wei Si started to lose ground, and the toxins began to invade her body, making her weak.

She felt that the loss of magical energy in her body had accelerated significantly. Her magical energy was on the verge of collapsing. If it wasn't for her royal bloodline, she would have probably already fallen and couldn't get up.

Bai Juan didn't hesitate and punched Me Wei Si in the forehead. Me Wei Si directly fainted and fell to the ground.

Bai Juan removed the toxins from Me Wei Si's body, then went to Iris. She took out a medical kit from under the bed and began to treat the wounds on Iris's leg.

"Mother, why are you so silly? Why endure the pain without crying out? Grandma would come and save you, explain things clearly, and clear up the injustice," Bai Juan wiped the blood stains from Iris's leg, talking to herself and cleaning the wound at the same time.

"I don't need her help at all," Iris opened her eyes weakly. As she spoke, she gasped for breath with great effort, and her face looked pale.

"Mother, why are you so stubborn?" Bai Juan sighed and continued to clean the wound.

"Magic is banned, what's the difference between me now and a useless person? Me Wei Si just made me even more useless," Iris's voice became more and more heavy. A sense of sadness appeared in her eyes, and her heart was filled with despair and unwillingness, but she had no way out.

"Mother, everything will get better. Don't give up on yourself like this. Once you recover, we can find a peaceful place in the jungle to live," Bai Juan gently persuaded.

With that, Iris passed out.
