Faced with the condition Lin Ziyao had proposed, Qin Yu answered without a moment’s hesitation. “I agree!”

Qin Yu’s answer left Lin Ziyao stunned. She’d expected Qin Yu to hesitate at least a little, or maybe to discuss it with her company before agreeing. She hadn’t expected her to say yes so easily.

Seeing that look of surprise gave Qin Yu a rare feeling of satisfaction.

Qin Yu’s lips slowly curved into a smile as she patiently explained, “Your condition isn’t hard for me to accept. The main thing is, great songs don’t come along every day. I’m willing to make some concessions for one.”

Lin Ziyao thought carefully about what Qin Yu had said. She’d tried to imagine just how much of an impact these songs could have, but she’d still underestimated it.

Looks like I should find some free time and listen properly to the songs written by singers in this world, she silently assigned herself the task. Know yourself and your opponent, and you’ll never lose a battle.

“After tomorrow’s shoot, the show’s going to take a few days off because of scheduling. Would you like to come visit my studio?” Qin Yu invited her.

“What would I do at your studio?” Qin Yu’s invitation left Lin Ziyao puzzled. Still, a few days off would be nice. She could use the chance to visit her grandmother in the hospital.

“Visit, and record a song. We can finish recording ‘Invisible Wings’ and release it when the show airs.” Qin Yu had a sharp eye. She could already see how popular the song would become once the show was broadcast.

If they recorded the song during the break and released it alongside the show, they could get the biggest possible return without spending a cent on promotion.

“And don’t you still owe me a song?” Qin Yu crossed her legs the other way and reminded her with an amused smile. “We can record that one at the same time.”

After considering how long the break would be, Lin Ziyao agreed to Qin Yu’s offer.

There was no doubt about it: Lin Ziyao’s performance won the unanimous approval of the guests present.

After filming wrapped, Feng Qiqi quietly came over and asked her, “Do you have sheet music for the song you just sang? I’d love to perform it sometime.”

When Lin Ziyao gave her a doubtful look, Feng Qiqi hurried to explain, “Your performance really moved me. I want to express that feeling by performing it in my own way. Don’t worry—the arrangement will still be credited to you.”

Seeing Feng Qiqi’s flustered explanation, Lin Ziyao realized she’d misunderstood. She was only wondering why Feng Qiqi had sneaked over to ask. She would’ve given it to her if she’d just come over openly.

“That’s fine. I’ll write out the numbered musical notation for you when I get some free time.” The system had turned all the information into memories, so Lin Ziyao could give it to Feng Qiqi very quickly if she wanted. But to be safe, she’d decided to take her time and avoid making anyone suspicious.

Feng Qiqi got her promise and left in high spirits. By the time filming ended, it was late. Aside from Feng Qiqi, only Director Chen remained in the garden, tidying up the set. Just as Lin Ziyao was about to leave, he called out to her.

The two of them sat down in seats that hadn’t been cleared away yet.

“Ziyao, once this episode airs, I bet your song will be sung everywhere. Have you thought about making a music video for it?” Director Chen rubbed his hands together and studied Lin Ziyao’s expression.

After all, a great song was right in front of him, and even Director Chen couldn’t resist the idea of making a music video for it. Besides, there were hardly any people in the entertainment industry whose looks could rival Lin Ziyao’s. Qin Yu was just about the only one who could match her.

Lin Ziyao didn’t have much to think over when Director Chen invited her. She agreed right away. “Director Chen, I’ve already promised Qin Yu I’ll record the song at her studio. You may have to discuss the music video with her.”

Hearing that, Director Chen froze. “Did you join Qin Yu’s studio?”

Lin Ziyao hurriedly shook her head. “We’re just working together.”

“Oh, oh, got it!” Director Chen immediately flashed her an OK sign to show he understood.

Once Director Chen understood, Lin Ziyao didn’t say anything more. It was late, and after a long day, she needed to get back to her room and rest.

But after she left, Director Chen picked up the phone and gave an order. “Xiao Li, use a little more footage of Lin Ziyao and Qin Yu in the first episode.”

“Got it, Director Chen!” Xiao Li hung up, then turned to the editor and said, “Director Chen wants us to use more footage of Lin Ziyao and Qin Yu.”

The editor was hunched over the footage. Hearing Xiao Li, they said, “The shots of them interacting, right? Got it!”

Meanwhile, Lin Ziyao returned to her room and pushed the door open. Qin Yu wasn’t lying on her bed. Instead, she heard water pattering in the bathroom. Lin Ziyao tensed, suddenly realizing something.

“You’re back? You weren’t here, so I went ahead and took a shower!” Qin Yu’s voice came from the bathroom when she heard the door open.

Lin Ziyao blushed and softly replied, “Mm!”

Click. The bathroom door, which had been closed, swung open. A long, slender leg dotted with water droplets stepped out through the drifting steam. Lin Ziyao’s gaze traveled up from it.

“Whoa!” She hurriedly covered her eyes. “Y-you—why would you…? Aren’t there cameras in this room?”

“I’ve been waiting for you for ages, you know?”

As Qin Yu drew closer, Lin Ziyao kept her eyes covered. Her other senses only seemed sharper—she could even catch the milky scent coming from Qin Yu.

“Don’t!” Lin Ziyao kept her eyes shut and stretched out one hand to keep them apart, but Qin Yu caught both of her hands.

“If you come any closer, something bad might happen. Is that what you want?” Qin Yu whispered softly in Lin Ziyao’s ear. Lin Ziyao tried to tickle her, but Qin Yu had her hands in a firm grip.

“W-who would want that…?” If she’d opened her eyes, she would’ve seen how red her cheeks were.

“Help me…” Qin Yu’s words trailed off, sounding half like an invitation and half like a plea, veiling what she intended to do next.

“Help you with what?” Lin Ziyao didn’t realize that her voice held a note of anticipation.

“Bring me the bathrobe on the bed. I forgot it earlier, and the camera’s on, so I can’t go get it myself. I had to wait for you to come back.” After saying that, Qin Yu let go of Lin Ziyao and went back into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

Left alone, Lin Ziyao collapsed onto the floor, all strength gone from her legs. She stared at the large wet patch in front of her and shouted toward the bathroom in a voice unlike any she’d used before: “Don’t come out with wet feet! You could’ve told me all that from in there! Drying the floor again is such a pain!”
