“Sigh… I wonder when we’ll get to see Eve again.” Alice pouted as she rode her horse.

“We’ll get the chance.” Lina gazed up at the sky. They’d only just parted, and she was already missing Eve.

When they first met, Eve was still a little girl who would only cower off to the side, head bowed and not saying a word.

After making inquiries and learning about Eve’s past, Alice and Lina had taken pity on her.

With the two girls’ help, Eve had finally become a little more outgoing. She was still somewhat insecure when they were out and blushed easily, but she was doing much better than before.

As they spent each day with Eve, the two girls had gradually come to think of her as their own sister. They doted on her, and the bond between the three of them grew stronger by the day.

But they hadn’t expected their happy days together to end so soon. They were already parting ways.

No one could say when they’d meet again.

“Lina, look! Isn’t that Xing?” Alice’s surprised voice interrupted Lina’s thoughts.

Lina snapped back to herself and looked more closely. Xing Hai stood in the middle of the road, his hands behind his back and his eyes utterly calm, blocking their way.

“Xing, what are you doing here?” The moment the handsome guy appeared, the two girls dismounted—but they weren’t happy to see him. They were deeply worried. “Why are you here alone? Where’s Eve?”

They were terrified something had happened to Eve.

“Don’t worry. This is only my clone,” Xing Hai said calmly. Two spatial portals suddenly opened a short distance to either side of him, and two creatures emerged.

One was a Western dragon with red scales and a pair of wings. It looked like a baby—small and adorable, no more than thirty centimeters tall—and it circled Lina.

The other was a tiny blue elf with pointed ears. She flapped her translucent wings and perched on Alice’s shoulder.

“These are your familiars.” Xing Hai’s calm words sent shock waves through the hearts of the two girls.

Dragons and elves didn’t exist in this world. They were powerful races from other worlds, and Mages who could form contracts with them were few and far between. Yet Xing Hai was saying they belonged to the girls now. This… this…

“Masters, thanks to the care you’ve shown Eve, you deserve this.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the girls felt a burning heat on the backs of their right hands. Two designs slowly took shape there.

The little dragon gave a few excited cries, while the elf happily swung her legs.

The two girls could clearly feel the bond between themselves and their familiars.

“You…” Before they could finish expressing their surprise, Xing Hai’s figure turned into a wisp of smoke and vanished.

How had he made the two little creatures form contracts with them when they hadn’t even cast any magic themselves?

And what kind of trick had he used to vanish in an instant?

“Ow! Why’d you pinch me?” A sharp pain shot through Alice’s arm. She rubbed the slightly reddened spot and complained to Lina in a low voice.

“This isn’t a dream. It’s real…” Lina said blankly.

“If you want to check whether it’s a dream, pinch yourself!” Alice flared up on the spot.

“That little Eve… She’s made a contract with someone incredible…” Lina murmured. Alice had just been about to pinch her, but she pulled her hand back.

“Yeah…”

“Eve, where should we go now?” Xing Hai asked the little girl amid the bustling streets.

“Hmm…” Eve tilted her head and thought for a moment.

“Let’s find somewhere to stay first!”

“All right.” Xing Hai nodded in agreement.
