“Why do I have to go attend the Demon Emperor in bed?”
Mu Nanyan finally asked the question she most wanted answered. Wasn’t the Demon Clan afraid I’d try to kill the Demon Emperor again?
And the Demon Emperor had one hell of a big heart. I’d nearly killed him, and now that his wounds had healed, he’d already forgotten the pain?
When it came down to it, Mu Nanyan was simply deeply opposed to the dress Alisha had brought her.
Just look at those ill-placed cutouts, the slit that went nearly all the way up to her hip, and the design that cinched her waist and pushed up her bust.
There was barely any fabric at all across the back. The outfit looked lavish, but Mu Nanyan was sure it must be very cheap to make.
Several beautiful blue gems adorned the neckline, as if they were deliberately drawing everyone’s eyes to her chest.
Mu Nanyan didn’t want to wear it. Not one bit. She didn’t want to dress like a toy and go please the Demon Emperor.
She knew she might not be a good person, but she wasn’t someone who’d go out of her way to please others!
Just twenty-four hours ago, I was still a perfectly ordinary man. And now you want me to put on something this seductive and go please the Demon Emperor?
What a joke. Who would ever agree to that?
“Why? It’s so strange to hear you ask that. You’re the Demon Empress, the wife the Demon Emperor married properly. Isn’t it only natural for you to attend His Majesty in bed?”
Alisha stepped closer, holding the dress.
“Is that really how it works? Wasn’t I banished to the Cold Palace?”
Every time Alisha stepped closer, Mu Nanyan took a step back. If she remembered correctly, hadn’t the Demon Emperor said they would never meet again?
“But you’re the Demon Emperor’s only consort.”
“But I’ve already been banished to the Cold Palace.”
“But you’re the Demon Emperor’s only consort…”
The two of them went back and forth like that for ages. Alisha didn’t give up—in fact, she was starting to lose her temper.
She ordered Gan Mei and Liya to pin Mu Nanyan down, one on either side, then firmly stripped off the somewhat gaudy dress she was wearing.
No matter how much Mu Nanyan struggled, they didn’t show the slightest intention of stopping.
How could one frail woman like Mu Nanyan possibly fight off three people? In less than ten minutes, they’d changed her clothes.
A dazzling sky-blue evening gown, like a fresh splash of color across the sky.
The gown’s design was distinctive and elegant, tracing her figure and shaping a graceful silhouette. As she walked, its flowing hem made her look like a fairy drifting through the air.
Even in the plainest candlelight, the sky-blue satin shimmered faintly, making her look like a shining pearl in the night sky.
In an instant, Alisha, Liya, and Gan Mei all cried out in amazement, as if they’d never seen anything so beautiful. Mu Nanyan looked as elegant and lovely as a white swan.
“No wonder His Majesty the Demon Emperor favors you so much.”
Alisha could hardly bring herself to blink. Mu Nanyan’s beauty had completely captivated her.
“I-It’s a little cold.”
Mu Nanyan had no time to care about any of that. The light, floaty skirt and the drafty cutouts all over the dress made her deeply uncomfortable.
It felt as if ants were crawling all over her.
She didn’t know where to put her hands—should she cover her chest or her thighs?
“The carriage is ready, Your Majesty. This way, please. We shouldn’t keep His Majesty the Demon Emperor waiting too long.”
Alisha took a deep breath, pulling herself away from Mu Nanyan’s beauty, then gestured for her to go ahead.
At this point, Mu Nanyan couldn’t refuse. After all, she was only the Demon Empress. When her patron wanted her company, she had to go—even if she was a thousand times unwilling.
“Fine. Can you at least tell me what time I can come back?”
Alisha couldn’t help giving her an odd little smile at that question.
“I'm afraid that’s not for me to decide. But His Majesty the Demon Emperor’s bed is very spacious. If you get tired, you can just stay there and rest. It’ll be fine.”
