About two hours later, You and Nai were still desperately attacking the ore slime in front of them.

To speed things up, You had even put her remaining skill points into the attack skill Holy Light Orb. It had cost her 2 skill points.

Sub-skill—Holy Light Orb: A low-tier, long-range holy-type attack with the ability to tear through darkness. Effect: Costs 1 MP, restores 1 HP to the user, and deals 5 points of magic damage to an enemy, ignoring defense.

It was a pretty decent way to attack, too.

“Bro, could this ore slime be invincible or something? We’ve been hitting it for so long, and it still isn’t dead!”

By now, Nai had waved her hand and unleashed Black Blade at least fifty times. Her hand was starting to ache. And yet the slime still hadn’t so much as twitched. Getting no visible reward for your efforts didn’t feel like a game at all.

“We’re almost there, right? I’d guess this slime has around a thousand HP.”

You, on the other hand, was pretty calm. Back when she used to grind games, she’d often run into monsters that you had to wear down like this.

The only difference was that back then, she had skills that let her see a monster’s status. That made the fight feel a lot more manageable. This was much harder by comparison.

The slime below shifted its body. It seemed to have finished devouring the gold nugget.

Puchu~ The ore slime shuddered violently, then started moving backward. From the way it looked, it seemed ready to run.

“Sis, hurry and chase it! It’s getting away!”

“Oh!”

Seeing this, the two foxes immediately scrambled down the slope, firing as they ran.

The slime had also realized its HP was nearly depleted. Its speed suddenly picked up, and it bounced along as it moved.

That only got the siblings behind it more excited. They were even less willing to let their fat little catch slip away, and they swung their hands with even more vigor.

At last, with a pitiful “Puchu!” the enormous ore slime dissolved into glowing particles and disappeared. At the same time, You and Nai were both hit by the rush of leveling up!
