“Haha, this feels great! I went up five levels in one go.”

You stared at the status screen, eyes shining, and read through it again and again without getting tired of it.

“Big bro, I feel like it’s been forever since I was this happy.”

Nai excitedly opened the status screen too and checked the stats.

After an hour-long hunt, they’d cleared out almost all the candle moths in the area. Only one or two had escaped, and both foxes’ levels and stats had risen dramatically—even if they were still pretty weak.

But thanks to those candle moths, You and Nai had managed to scrape together the skill points they needed most in the early game.

“Little sis, if this place really does work like GE, then we need to save our skill points early on.”

As You spoke, he rubbed his front paws together, shaking out all the little bits of stone.

“Yeah. Everything so far seems pretty close to GE. The moths turning into glowing dust when they die, the refreshing feeling when we level up—it all matches how things work in the game. So I think it’d be safer to stick with the build we came up with before.”

It had taken You and Nai a long time, drawing on their knowledge of GE, to work out the best skill build.

Skill points were crucial in GE. If you spent them carelessly early on, the late game could be miserable.

For example, GE once had a big spender whose character was a warrior built for support. Thinking he could just throw money at the game and go all-in on attack, he spent his skill points however he liked.

By the end, his character was useless—no attack power, no support skills. And more than half the players had made the same mistake.

“Then let’s do it like before. Your big bro here will focus on support first, while you put your points into attack skills. I’ll see what support skills are available.”

Nai nodded.

The two foxes silently thought, “Skill List,” and a greenish-yellow menu popped up in front of them, displaying several major skill categories.

- Attack - Mental (Locked) - Defense - Support - Items - Low-Tier Domain (Locked)

You opened each category in turn, gave a quiet shake of the head, then opened the Support menu.

【Minor Heal】 MP Cost: 5. Instantly restores one target’s HP by 20. No cooldown. Skill points required: 1.

【Minor Group Heal】 MP Cost: 10. Instantly restores two targets’ HP by 25. No cooldown. Skill points required: 2.

【Minor Natural Recovery】 No MP cost. Restores 5 MP to one target over 10 seconds. Cooldown: 20 seconds. Skill points required: 3.

“This one’s practically waving at me. Natural Recovery, it is.”

You happily took 3 of the only 5 skill points he had and assigned them to the Support category. Before long, the menu’s

【Minor Natural Recovery】 turned into a speck of light and flew into You’s body.

Ding~ New skill acquired: 【Minor Natural Recovery LV.1】. This skill can be upgraded with 3 skill points or by reaching 100 proficiency.

Meanwhile, Nai had picked a skill too. Attack: 【Black Blade (Magic)】. Condenses a faint power of An into a blade of wind that deals damage equal to half the user’s attack power. This skill ignores defense.

MP cost per use: 5. Skill points required: 5.

The two fox cubs looked pleased with their new skills. After trying them out a few times to get the hang of them, they closed the skill menu.

“Yeah, I think we’ve got a few ways to keep ourselves alive now. It’s time to check out the mine up ahead.”

“Agreed!”
