Though Aileen had already left for class, Liao Luo still hadn’t quite recovered.
Because, honestly, it was all a little too weird.
Getting woken up early in the morning, catching sight of the marks Aileen’s tight stockings left on her skin, then eating breakfast and getting cuddled and doted on by her afterward… This life was just so strange.
“This is so shameful. How could I really start thinking of myself as a pet?! But if being a pet means I get to sleep with a catgirl, don’t have to worry about anything, and get pampered by her… then you can’t blame me for being a little shameless, right?!”
Liao Luo figured anyone would accept a deal like that!
It was still early, so he considered going back to sleep for a while.
He’d always figured this was probably what pet cats and dogs did all day. Now that he was experiencing it firsthand, Liao Luo finally understood.
No rushing around for work or school, sleeping eighteen hours a day, and getting spoiled to his heart’s content. It felt amazing!
His gaze wandered downstairs, and he suddenly spotted a familiar figure.
Well, he mostly recognized those big, snow-white ears.
Such soft, white bunny ears.
Though they’d never met, Liao Luo recognized Nan Yue at once.
She wore a lively school uniform with a skirt, made of soft, brushed fabric, with carefully finished cuffs.
Unlike Aileen, it seemed she was still just a bunny girl in high school.
Liao Luo watched her casually looking around as if searching for something. She didn’t seem to have any particular target; she was just following her whims.
Then she finally looked up, in his direction.
Her expression still didn’t give much away. She paused to look for a moment, then turned and left.
“Maybe she’s a kid who lives around here,” Liao Luo guessed.
This residential building sat in the school district, and more than a hundred beast girls passed by every day.
There was no way Liao Luo could pay attention to every single one of them.
He pulled the covers over himself and promptly decided to go back to sleep.
Aileen’s scent filled his nostrils.
Achoo!
Liao Luo sneezed.
Cat fur had fallen out of her hair, too.
…
…
It wasn’t as if Nan Yue was trying to keep an eye on anyone in particular.
At least, she didn’t think she had any particular fondness for Humans. They looked nothing like beast girls, and didn’t seem to have anything special about them. If anyone kept a Human as a pet, she’d laugh at them to their face.
But this one… This one was different.
This one even said hello to her!
“That’s weird. I think it was around here… So why haven’t I seen them again?”
Even though she might’ve been running late, she pretended not to have a care in the world as she looked over the nearby residential buildings.
Of course, she found nothing.
Nan Yue didn’t want to admit she’d taken a detour just to look for the Human she’d seen yesterday.
Just as she decided it was getting late and she had to leave, she spotted that face peeking out from a balcony again.
It was that familiar Human!
Nan Yue broke into a smile, and it felt as if her whole day had suddenly brightened.
Even that brief glimpse was enough to make her happy.
She stared at that window for a long time. She didn’t even leave when Liao Luo lay back down for another nap.
This time, she’d memorized the exact building and window. As soon as she had some free time in the next few days, she’d have to pay a proper visit!
Of course, it wasn’t because she wanted to pet a Human or anything. She wasn’t interested in that. Bunny girls were the cutest things in the world, after all.
She just…
wanted to be a good neighbor and visit someone else who lived in the school district.
…
…
Liao Luo’s nap went on for a long time. By the time he woke up groggily, it was already afternoon.
The curtains hadn’t been drawn properly, and the sunlight had woken him.
The apartment was quiet and empty. Aileen still hadn’t come back.
She had prepared lunch in advance, though, carefully dividing it among little plates and setting them on the table.
It had gone cold by now, but it would still smell delicious once he heated it up.
Liao Luo half-heartedly chewed his rice, eating in a particularly sloppy manner.
Actually, he was thinking about something else.
Why had the world turned out like this?
“Could some kind of radiation have turned all the pets into people and people into pets?”
Otherwise, it was hard to understand how the whole social order could’ve flipped so suddenly.
Liao Luo vaguely remembered seeing Aileen use a computer. But when he eagerly turned it on, he discovered it was locked, and he couldn’t get to the desktop.
That was incredibly frustrating.
“You live alone, so why lock your computer?!”
He couldn’t help feeling exasperated.
It looked like searching for information online was out of the question.
He could’ve gone outside to look around, but given the situation out there, Liao Luo figured it was better to stay home.
After all, the last time, a stray cat by the roadside had mistaken him for a stray and bullied him mercilessly.
Even though he wasn’t a stray anymore.
With nothing to do, Liao Luo looked out the window again. He didn’t see the bunny girl this time, so it seemed she was taking her classes seriously.
Feeling a bit like an explorer, he searched around the apartment.
It wasn’t all that different from the home of any human living in modern society.
Aside from cat grass in a few places and some truly bizarre furnishings, there wasn’t much difference.
For example, everything here was kept way up high, and the furniture wasn’t exactly ordinary. Cats could jump that high without a problem, so there was no need to keep things where humans could easily reach them.
There weren’t any decorations on the cabinets or countertops, either. Liao Luo guessed catgirls were just as prone as cats to pushing things off surfaces, so Aileen didn’t put anything there.
But in a tucked-away corner, Liao Luo spotted a photograph of two people.
One was clearly Aileen when she was much younger. Her petite ears were pinned back like airplane wings, and she didn’t look very happy.
The other woman had a hand on Aileen’s shoulder and leaned down toward the camera.
The woman didn’t look much like Aileen. Still, there was no denying she was striking, and her business suit fit her perfectly.
“She doesn’t look like Aileen’s mother. Maybe she’s her aunt?”
Liao Luo made his guess and put the photo back where he’d found it.
There was only one place left to look.
With the same adventurous spirit, he opened the wardrobe—and immediately learned the hard way what an avalanche felt like.
Countless clothes surged out of the wardrobe, burying him like a hamster caught in an avalanche. The garments were light on their own, but piled together they became crushingly heavy. He could barely manage to stick one hand out from under the heap.
“…You just cram all these clothes into the wardrobe. How do you even get changed?!”
Aileen’s scent filled his nostrils. It was enough to knock him dizzy.
Just as Liao Luo began to feel like he couldn’t breathe, someone finally took hold of his hand.
“Silly Human, how can you be this stupid? Burying yourself under a pile of clothes… I told you not to mess with things, didn’t I? Now I have to tidy everything up again!”
Aileen had just returned from class. With one hand, she pulled Liao Luo out of the pile, grumbling as she started tidying up and stuffed all the clothes back into the wardrobe.
Liao Luo was taken aback. “You’re not going to wash these? There are so many clothes—they’re all worn, right?”
“I didn’t realize I’d piled up this many. But when it comes to laundry, I don’t really like the smell of detergent.” Aileen looked at Liao Luo, her eyes gleaming a little. “If only I could train a Human to do my laundry!”
