The entire lower half of the building was blasted to dust, leaving the upper half hanging in the air like a castle in the sky. With nothing to support it, the upper half came crashing down. The Carnivorous Flower King hadn’t even realized what was happening before it was badly wounded and buried beneath the rubble!
Han Ming glanced at the weapon in his hand, a little surprised. It was just an ordinary blue-grade pistol, and the skill he’d used didn’t have a high damage multiplier. So how had it dealt so much damage?
Normally, only high-level skills could damage the environment, and the system would quickly repair any damage. But this building clearly wasn’t subject to that feature.
“Whoa, Brother Ming, you’re seriously amazing! Even a missile couldn’t have blown this place apart so thoroughly!” An'an hurried over first, her eyes full of admiration.
Han Ming was beginning to understand. The attributes people had in the game were now enhanced when applied to their real bodies. He had more than ten thousand points in every attribute. If all of that could strengthen him, then he was practically a superhuman. He just didn’t know where his limits were.
“That hit a little harder than I expected. Let’s see how the Carnivorous Flower King is doing.” Han Ming quickly composed himself. As he looked at the ruined building, he could sense that the Carnivorous Flower King was still alive.
Sure enough, a massive chunk of rubble was thrown aside, and the Carnivorous Flower King crawled out. Its thick branches were still intact, but several of its petals and leaves had been torn off, and it looked badly weakened.
It hadn’t been hit directly. The shockwave from the building’s collapse alone had taken two-thirds of its health, leaving it furious. It needed to feed on flesh at once to restore its HP!
Two vine lashes shot out, snaking along the ground toward Han Ming and the others. Han Ming was the closest living target, so the Carnivorous Flower King naturally chose him first.
Unfortunately for it, the monster couldn’t sense the strength of its opponent. It only knew to strike back when attacked. Han Ming simply raised his pistol and casually pulled the trigger, firing an ordinary bullet. Just as the vine lashes came within a centimeter of him, the shot blew the Carnivorous Flower King’s bloom apart. Clear sap sprayed everywhere, and the monster was killed!
A dazzling glow shone above An'an, Xue Yun, and Mo Li. All three leveled up, reaching Level 10!
The fight was over before anyone had time to react. They couldn’t tell whether the boss had been too weak or Han Ming was just too strong.
“A purple drop!” Han Ming was thrilled. The best part of playing a game was finding unknown loot during the early days of exploring. He’d been decked out in top-tier gear for so long that he’d almost forgotten how exciting it was to get a new piece of equipment.
Han Ming picked up the purple-grade weapon. It was a spear, the kind used by melee classes who fought with long weapons. “Advanced Appraisal!”
『Bloodsucking Rootstalk (Spear) Quality: Rare Level Requirement: 30 Attack +50 Strength and Stamina +30 Unique Effect: All attacks restore HP equal to 5% of the damage dealt!』
The biggest difference between purple- and blue-grade gear was that purple gear came with powerful special effects. In the late game, ordinary players mostly used highly enhanced purple gear. Orange gear, on the other hand, was only within reach of the rich or the incredibly lucky.
A few blue- and green-grade items had dropped along with it, but none were firearms, so Han Ming didn’t care for any of them.
“So this is a purple-grade weapon? I’ve never seen one before!” The others stared in a daze at the spear in Han Ming’s hand, which looked like it was made from the Carnivorous Flower’s roots. This had to be the first purple-grade item ever obtained at a human camp!
“Not bad. We might be able to get a good price for it later. We’ll split the money then.” Han Ming believed that everyone who saw the loot deserved a share. When someone in a party found a top-tier item, they usually gave the other teammates a portion of its value, often around ten percent.
Of course, there were plenty of players who’d grab the loot and immediately leave the party. Other players would often curse them over the global chat, saying they could use that money to buy themselves a coffin.
“No, no! This weapon’s far too valuable, and we haven’t done a thing the whole time. We can’t accept it!” Xue Yun refused outright. Han Ming had already helped them level up, refused all the loot and gear that dropped along the way, and was now offering them a share of the one purple item they’d gotten. Accepting it would be shameless.
After Han Ming tried to persuade them several times and they still refused, he had no choice but to give up. “Then at least take these. I don’t need them.”
The Carnivorous Flower King had also dropped a few Level 30 blue- and green-grade items. They were junk to Han Ming, but a fortune to players who’d only just reached Level 10. The others stopped protesting and gladly accepted them.
“Oh, right. You should be able to choose a class now, shouldn’t you? Have you decided what you want to be?” Han Ming thought people still had to complete a quest to change classes after reaching the required level. He didn’t know that classes were now bound to each person, and the moment they met the level requirement, a class would be generated automatically.
This system also put people who gained hidden classes a cut above the rest. Ning Yu, whom Han Ming had defeated earlier, was a hidden-class Flowing Water Swordsman.
“Our classes have already been generated. I think mine’s Knight.” Xue Yun brought up their status screen. Their class had indeed changed from Freelancer to Knight, and their stamina and strength had increased as well.
“I’m a Priest, and An'an seems to be a Mage.” Mo Li and the other two had fairly standard classes, but compared with Freelancers below Level 10, it was still a huge leap forward.
“All right, we’ve had a huge haul today. Let’s head back and celebrate, and figure out how to sell this spear.” Everyone used world currency now. If he could sell it, he’d be sitting on hundreds of thousands in an instant!
They nodded and started back. It was still early, but there was no need to keep adventuring today. There weren’t any more bosses in the area worth challenging, and Han Ming couldn’t even be bothered to kill a boss that couldn’t drop purple gear.
Back at the human camp, Xue Yun led Han Ming to a great place: the largest building in the entire human stronghold, the Adventurers' Guild.
The Adventurers' Guild was now a government institution under state management. Only the government had the resources to build branches in every region. The building next door was the Guild’s marketplace. All you had to do was hand your items to an appraiser, and they could be listed for sale there. The marketplace took a fee, and its reputation was completely trustworthy.
“I had no idea there was a place like this!” Han Ming loved browsing the marketplace in the game whenever he had free time. He was like a woman who loved shopping: even if he didn’t buy anything, just looking at the special effects and stats was enough to make him happy.
All kinds of gear and items were displayed in glass cases, their glow indicating their quality. Unfortunately, most of them were blue or green. Only a few gave off a purple light, and those were just rare materials.
Just then, a voice rang out at the worst possible moment. “Well, well, look what we have here. Isn’t this Young Master Yun? Didn’t expect to see you again so soon~”
