High above the ground, on a mechanical island ten thousand meters in the sky, a young man hurried along a battered metal staircase.
This was Origin, the final stage of the Mechanical Temple—the strongest dungeon in Infinite Fantasy. Everything would end here!
Han Ming gripped the two pistols in his hands. One was crystal-clear and brilliant, surrounded by a blue glow. Wisps of cold air rose from it now and then, as if it could freeze the air itself.
The other pistol had been forged from dragon bone using a special process. It looked as if a dragon’s skull were biting down on the barrel, and black flames flickered faintly in the dragon’s hollow eye sockets.
The level-90 Gunner’s legendary weapon, Dragon’s Wailing Breath, and another legendary weapon of equal quality, Bitter Frost, had carried the young man through a sweeping victory over the Mechanical Temple and brought him here.
“Human, why are you so stubborn? A mortal body is frail and weak. Leave your consciousness in this world, and you’ll gain eternal life!” In the great hall, a barefoot girl with silver hair and silver eyes looked at the young man. “You’re the only human worthy of remaining in my eternal world. Why refuse my invitation?!”
Every part of her figure and face was so exquisitely crafted that she seemed almost perfect. Her beauty was breathtaking. Yet her face held no expression, and her voice was cold and detached, without a hint of feeling.
Han Ming gave a faint smile. “Everyone in this world is an NPC. Even the best game gets old eventually if you’re the only player.”
The silver-haired girl was the system’s main program, known as the Sky God, and managed the entire Infinite Fantasy World. But at some point, she had forcibly removed every player from the world. Han Ming was the only one left!
The reason she had kept Han Ming behind was that he was the game’s only double champion. The Sky God had concluded that he was the finest human being.
“I can create anything you want. **, appetite—whatever your needs, I can satisfy them. You have no reason to leave.” The only emotion the Sky God could show was probably confusion. She couldn’t understand anything beyond the limits of her calculations.
Han Ming gave a cold laugh. “But it’s all fake. A life worth living has to be full of the unknown. If everything’s within your control, what’s the point? You’re not human, so of course you wouldn’t understand. The only thing I want now is to return to the world I belong to!”
『Awakening Skill—Godhunter Realm』!
This was the awakening skill Han Ming had gained with his third class advancement. It transformed him into a Godhunter, setting his defense to zero and preventing him from receiving any defensive effects in exchange for boosting all his attributes. A brutal skill that gambled life against life.
“I can’t understand your battle plan, but I have no reason to let you pass.” The Sky God waved a hand, and ten level-100 Alloy War Gods appeared out of thin air to block Han Ming’s path.
Even max-level monsters had a cap on their stats. Though she was the main program, the limits of this game world kept her power in check. She couldn’t grow without limit—and that was why Han Ming had a chance to fight back!
『Gun Skill—Absolute Focus』! 『Gun Skill—Weakness Detection』!
These were two of the Gunner’s buff skills, used to raise accuracy and critical-hit rate. With Han Ming’s maxed-out skill points, both skills could now grant him a 100% critical-hit rate and accuracy.
The three-meter-tall Alloy War Gods had tremendous offense and defense, and were slower only than classes built around agility. Ten of them appearing at once would be a formidable challenge even for an ordinary max-level player. But Han Ming was a world champion, with reaction speed and game sense among the very best!
The two legendary weapons fired lethal rounds. Every shot carved away a chunk of an Alloy War God’s health bar. But the Alloy War Gods fought without fear of death, pressing on to kill Han Ming no matter how badly they were wounded.
An Alloy War God leaped into the air and hurled the laser spear in its hand at Han Ming. He dodged just in time, and it struck only his afterimage. But where the spear landed, it created a field of electrical energy. Touch it, and you’d be paralyzed.
『Enhanced Reloading—Elemental Magazine』!
Han Ming received six randomly loaded elemental bullets, each of which would produce an effect corresponding to its element.
After dodging another barrage of missiles from the Alloy War Gods, Han Ming climbed a pillar and reached the ceiling. From above, he aimed at the ground and fired. “Flameburst Round!”
The bullet, imbued with fire, shot from the barrel. Dragon’s Wailing Breath amplified its fire damage by 50%, triggering a violent explosion throughout the great hall. Its power rivaled a heavy missile strike, and the entire temple shook from that single shot.
The devastating blast swept over every Alloy War God, draining their health bars in an instant. Ten kills with one shot!
“This is only the beginning. You can’t resist my power!” The Sky God twisted space, transforming the battlefield into a chaotic grid. The space was pitch-black, with only lines crisscrossing through it. Six portals slowly appeared. Once they opened completely, max-level monsters would pour through without end!
The Sky God could summon endless servants and reshape the battlefield, but her own design gave her no combat ability. If Han Ming could get close and kill her, it would all be over—and he could return to his original world!
“Lightstream Round!” It was the fastest of the elemental bullets. A streak of light tore through space and shot straight at the Sky God, but an invisible barrier appeared around her. Even after the Lightstream Round’s glow faded, it still hadn’t broken through her defenses!
The Sky God’s face remained expressionless. “It’s useless. For any weapon attack within my understanding, I can simulate a defense to counter it in advance.”
At last, all six portals fully materialized. A gigantic forelimb slowly reached out from one of them. It was five or six meters long by itself. Just imagine how enormous its owner must be!
“Come forth, my servant—the Emperor Dragon!” The Sky God stopped summoning ordinary max-level monsters and began calling forth max-level boss creatures instead!
The Emperor Dragon was a max-level dragon-type boss. It had two sets of dragon-scale armor it could switch between: one granting 100% physical immunity, the other 100% magical immunity. That made it the worst possible matchup for a hybrid-damage class like Han Ming’s. No matter what he did, he couldn’t deal maximum damage!
At the same time, the other five portals began summoning max-level bosses: the Evil Bone Emperor, Lord of Infinity, Fallen Sword Saint Ying Lan, Golden Giant King, and Doomsday Angel!
Each of these six bosses was among the most difficult in the Infinite Fantasy World, and every one of them was max-level. A team of a hundred players would be needed to take down even one. Even Han Ming, with his overwhelming gear advantage and skill, would need several hours to solo one of them. And now, all six had appeared at once!
And because of the limits of what the space could withstand, many other max-level bosses couldn’t descend at the same time. Otherwise, even more would have appeared!
“You have one last chance. I still invite you to share this eternity with me.” The Sky God, in complete control of the situation, stared expressionlessly at Han Ming, surrounded by six max-level bosses. She repeated the invitation she’d made at the beginning.
“Honestly, I’m a little grateful you’re so determined to keep me. But I’d rather die here than become a pile of data. And… you really think I have no way to turn this around?” Han Ming’s lips curled slightly as he tossed aside both legendary weapons.
The Sky God watched him in confusion. He hadn’t given up fighting, so why was he throwing away his weapons? But then, as if she understood, she immediately ordered, “Attack with everything you have! Kill him!”
As Han Ming cast aside his two legendary weapons, a brilliant light flashed in his hands. He’d kept everything hidden until now for the sake of this very moment!
“Champion’s Eye and Champion’s Heart. Infinite Fantasy’s creators designed these weapons especially for me, the champion. They’re beyond your control!” Any equipment recorded in the Sky God’s database couldn’t hurt her. Only these one-of-a-kind champion weapons could break through her defenses!
Han Ming knew full well that he had only one chance. If he failed, he wouldn’t even be allowed to die. He’d be turned into data, just like that thing!
『Godhunter Ultimate Skill—Only Death Is Eternal』!
Han Ming slowly closed his eyes, guiding the gun with his heart. He didn’t need to aim; the bullet would find its target. In that moment, his world held only this shot and its target. He ignored every threat from beyond it!
The moment the bullet left the barrel, the six bosses’ attacks engulfed Han Ming. But he knew he’d already won!
Bang! The bullet tore through the air. As the protective shield shattered, it pierced the Sky God’s head. Even then, all she felt was confusion. She showed no regret or unwillingness to accept defeat. That was the tragedy of being a system. “Why… did my calculations… fail?”
