Right after that, the group chat started roasting her again.

As Gao Sijin watched the scenery outside shift constantly, he thought, Well, this is beyond my control.

First, Yu Qingxue had locked the car doors. Second, opening one at this speed would be suicide. So Gao Sijin could only look miserable as the woman drove him to some destination he knew nothing about.

“Ugh, this is all your fault! Now I can’t work!”

“Is that so? Then why do you look so happy?”

“Do you have any idea how much trouble you’ve caused me?”

Gao Sijin raised his voice.

But deep down, he was having the time of his life.

Most writers start out typing for fun. But once money gets involved, writing starts to feel like a chore.

Especially when they get stuck.

“So where are we going, anyway?”

“To Shengjing, the provincial capital!”

Yu Qingxue drifted smoothly around a turn, her high ponytail swaying with her.

Just moments ago, Yu Qingxue had nearly crashed into a tanker truck. But she was an experienced driver, and her superb driving skills let her skim right past it.

For one brief moment, Gao Sijin thought he saw the Grim Reaper beckoning him. He’d never even been to a haunted house in his life, and now his adrenaline was surging. Still shaken, he could barely breathe properly. It took him a long while to recover.

“You’re a real lunatic.”

“Woohoo!”

“Could you slow down a little?”

“I, Yu Qingxue, don’t do slow driving. You fought your way past billions of brothers and sisters to be born into this world. How can you not enjoy yourself while you’re here?”

She was a wild horse with the reins cut loose. And though she had a point, Gao Sijin just wanted to stay alive. He didn’t want to die young.

That woman was way too dangerous.

Once he got home, he was definitely deleting her from his friends list.

A little over three hours later, they finally reached Shengjing.

Once they entered the city, Yu Qingxue finally reined herself in a little. So even the lawless Yu Qingxue was afraid of traffic cops.

But her next words nearly made Gao Sijin spit.

“There aren’t any traffic cops around. How boring. I was hoping to race them…”

“Please, I’m begging you, ma’am! Do you want my money or my body? Just let me out of the car and I’ll do whatever you want.”

“What kind of person do you take me for, Sijin? I’ll pass on the money, but I might consider taking your body.” Yu Qingxue licked her rose-red lips. “Still, I’d much rather go out and have a good time! Let’s hit a bar and have a few drinks!”

“Jesus, Allah, Jade Emperor—somebody save me…”

But inside Yu Qingxue’s car, his cries fell on deaf ears. There was no one he could call for help.

She floored the gas, and in the blink of an eye they were on the bar street in the city center.

Beneath row upon row of skyscrapers, a sea of neon lights blazed in every color.

Under all that dazzling light were young toughs with chunky gold chains and little watches. They swaggered down the street with women on their arms, like they’d been born to chase pleasure.

Compared to them, Gao Sijin’s long-standing claim that he was a “real street guy” felt like a joke. These guys were the real deal.

“Come on, Sijin. Get out.”

The car door that had imprisoned Gao Sijin finally opened again. When he climbed out, he nearly stumbled and fell.

Luckily, Yu Qingxue caught him in time, saving him from embarrassing himself.

“My legs are a little shaky. If you want to have fun, go by yourself. I’m going home…”

“Don’t be such a downer! You’re staying with me until we’ve partied all night!”

Her snake-like arm wound around Gao Sijin’s again. He tried to break free, but couldn’t move at all.

Then she tightened her grip, and Gao Sijin felt like his joint was about to snap.

“Sijin, I forgot to mention—I’ve studied just a tiny bit of grappling.”

“Keep this up and I’m calling the cops. Let me go!”

“You’re so hopeless.” Yu Qingxue gave him a flirtatious smile. “Don’t you want to let loose for once? Your life is the same every day. How are you supposed to write an interesting novel like that?”

“How do you know I write novels?”

“I saw it when I used your phone to add myself as a friend that day. Sorry~”

Yu Qingxue looked smug, like a kid who’d figured everything out. She didn’t seem the least bit guilty about snooping.

“I’m calling the cops right now.”

“Sijin, my sweet Sijin, check your pockets. Is your phone still in there?”

“My phone’s…?”

“It’s right here.”

Yu Qingxue held the Vivo phone he’d been using for three years.

“You little thief! Give it back!”

“Nope. I’m not giving it back~” Yu Qingxue pursed her bright, moist red lips with a wicked smile. “You’re not getting your phone back unless you spend the whole day partying with me.”

“Give it back!”

Gao Sijin reached for it, but Yu Qingxue tucked the phone between her snowy-white breasts.

“Go on, then. I put your phone in my bra, so take it back yourself. Don’t worry, I won’t call the cops and have them arrest you for groping me.”

Gao Sijin took a deep breath as he looked at those undeniably wicked D-cup breasts, then slowly reached out.

Yu Qingxue watched with a beaming smile and didn’t resist at all, as if that sensitive spot had been opened just for Gao Sijin.

“Fine. I’ll humor you this one last time. Yu Qingxue, you win.”

“That won’t do. If you keep being this nice, women are going to walk all over you.”

She linked arms with Gao Sijin and led him into a bar that seemed to radiate pure hormones.

Night Breeze.

Nine years of compulsory education had taught Gao Sijin that the name meant “evening breeze” in Chinese.

But he thought “Night Madness” would be a much better translation.

The BMW i8 Yu Qingxue had parked outside wasn’t even the most eye-catching thing in the bar. Places like this were clearly social hangouts for spoiled rich kids. Looking at all the young masters decked out in designer labels, Gao Sijin felt like a sardine that had wandered into a school of sharks. It was not a good feeling.

Yu Qingxue was the only one who truly belonged here. Her queenly aura instantly drew plenty of eyes.

The young people here let loose without a care, screaming and howling. Men and women in revealing clothes thrashed around on the dance floor, while the music pounded so loudly Gao Sijin felt like his brain was about to explode.

“Well? Got any inspiration yet?”

“I write light novels, not urban power fantasies.”

“And that’s why your novels flop. From now on, you’re going to learn how to make things exciting.”

“People don’t share one another’s joys and sorrows. All I feel is that they’re noisy.”
