Once the three of them had calmed down a little, Zixiao got up first to make breakfast.
And even while they ate, they stayed in the same places as before.
With Yuche sitting on Yuzhe’s lap, she had Zixiao bring over only two sets of tableware.
And so...
“Ah... Big Brother, feed me.”
Yuche tilted her head, her little mouth slightly open as she watched Yuzhe take a bite of toast.
As if it were second nature, Yuzhe held the toast to her mouth, and Yuche nibbled at it like a little hamster.
She didn’t use her hands at all the whole time. Yuzhe held everything for her.
Zixiao had seen this scene plenty of times, but she still couldn’t help commenting on it.
“Sometimes, Yuche, I really think you act... a little too childish when you’re around Big Brother.”
“Hmph.” Yuche glanced at her disdainfully. “Enough with the pointless stuff. Just answer me—are you jealous or not?”
“Very jealous,” Zixiao replied instantly.
“Exactly.” Yuche took another sip of soy milk from Yuzhe’s spoon.
Then she suddenly turned toward Zixiao, as if she’d just thought of something amusing.
“By the way, that super-popular school beauty who transferred to West City—the one everyone’s been talking about in East City lately. Could that be you, Zixiao?”
“I don’t want to admit it, but I’m pretty sure they’re talking about me.”
Zixiao ate with perfect manners, though a trace of surprise crossed her face. She’d only transferred schools—how had rumors already started in East City?
When Zixiao confirmed that it really was her, Yuche smiled happily. “That’s hilarious. Think about it: back when Big Brother went to school with us in East City, whenever they held one of those so-called school beauty elections, they always picked him! Big Brother really is amazing!”
At that, breakfast suddenly lost all its appeal for Yuzhe. He lightly tapped Yuche on the head with the side of his hand. “What are you talking about, you little rascal? Food can’t even keep you quiet. Why would they pick me as the school beauty? I’m a guy.”
“Hehe!” Yuche turned around and shifted to kneeling on Yuzhe’s thighs, clinging to him like a little pendant. “It’s true, Big Brother! You don’t know? Everyone at school used to say you deserved the title of school beauty more than anyone!”
“I used to think they meant me whenever they talked about the Su Family’s eldest daughter. Turns out they meant you, Big Brother! That’s hilarious! But honestly, that title suits you way better than it suits me!”
“Ah... you...” Looking at how happy Yuche was, Yuzhe couldn’t bring himself to scold her. He could only feel his macho heart ache all over again.
“Hmm? Now that you mention it...” Yuzhe suddenly spotted the obvious. “After Zixiao transferred, she became the school beauty at Fenghai No. 1 High School in West City. And after I left, you became the school beauty at Qifeng No. 1 High School in East City. My two little sisters are pretty impressive!”
“That’s true, I guess. But I don’t think it’s anything impressive...” Yuche didn’t seem the least bit interested in the title.
“Still, neither of us is as pretty as Big Brother.” Zixiao nodded, looking completely serious.
Yuzhe’s brow twitched hard twice. Then he asked about something he’d been wondering: “So... you two must be pretty popular at school now, right?”
After all, Yuzhe had always been the center of attention wherever he went. He figured his two exceptional little sisters must be the same.
But their answers were not what Yuzhe expected.
“Not at all,” Zixiao replied without a second thought.
“Not even a little,” Yuche answered almost at the same time.
Yuzhe was baffled. Why not?
Seeing his confusion, Zixiao explained first. “When it comes to being popular, I did get a lot of attention for the first few days after I transferred. Every day, I’d arrive at school and find all sorts of envelopes piled on my desk. Little Lychee told me they were called ‘love letters.’ It was such a pain.”
At the memory, Zixiao’s face filled with irritation. “It was really annoying. I told them not to leave that stuff on my desk.”
“What about now?” Yuzhe was even more curious. He wanted to know how Zixiao had dealt with it.
“Now I don’t get a single letter! That’s thanks to my perfect solution!”
Zixiao looked smug as she gazed at Yuzhe, clearly hoping he’d ask what she’d done.
Of course Yuzhe was happy to indulge her, so he asked, “Then how did you solve it, Zixiao?”
“Well, Big Brother, you know Little Lychee is the Student Council president, right? She occasionally gives big speeches for the whole school, so I asked her to give me some time to explain something to everyone.”
“What did you tell them?”
Yuzhe suddenly had a bad feeling.
“I told the whole school that you were my boyfriend, Big Brother! Nobody’s bothered me since. I even put your picture up on the big screen! The whole crowd gasped. Problem solved perfectly!”
Zixiao smiled smugly again, apparently very pleased with her solution.
Yuzhe hadn’t expected that, but overall, he thought it was a workable plan. Using himself as a shield was probably the best choice.
He just didn’t know that Zixiao didn’t think of it as using him as a shield. She wished it were true.
But Yuzhe soon sensed something was off. “Wait. When I went to your school yesterday, it felt like nobody knew who I was. Didn’t you say you put my picture on the big screen?”
Zixiao thought that was only natural. “Well, it was a picture, but only a profile shot. And there probably weren’t many students around when you came yesterday. My class is the top-performing one, full of honor students who only care about studying. They might not have recognized you right away, so it’ll take a little while. By tomorrow, they’ll probably be talking about you on the school forum. You can’t escape it!”
“What about Little Lychee?”
“She wasn’t there at the time... so she didn’t know what you looked like.”
Yuzhe understood, but it seemed like he was going to become a hot topic before he even transferred... He could only hope they wouldn’t recognize him, though the odds weren’t great.
Yuche just laughed even harder. “Hahaha, that’s too funny! Zixiao, are you sure they stopped bothering you because your plan worked, and not because they thought your tastes were questionable? You showed them a picture of Big Brother. Of course they’d get the wrong idea! Hahaha.”
“Huh?” Zixiao froze for a moment before she understood what Yuche meant. It was true—just from the picture, Big Brother looked exactly like a silver-haired beauty.
It was obvious what kind of misunderstanding Yuche was talking about.
But whether they misunderstood or not didn’t matter. As long as it solved the problem, that was good enough.
Still, Yuche’s reaction suddenly got on Zixiao’s nerves. “W-what are you laughing at? What about you, Yuche? Surely you’ve had to deal with this kind of thing too?”
“Not at all.” Yuche’s crisp answer left Zixiao in disbelief.
Yuche went on, “I’m not as useless as you. Why would I need to explain anything? You know who owns those two schools, right?”
“The Su Family...” Zixiao had a vague idea of what Yuche had done.
“Then you get it. You should make proper use of whatever you can. When I enrolled, I had the principal tell every student that anyone who dared come up and talk to me would be sent to Africa to mine.”
“So I never had to deal with your kind of problem. Everyone even goes out of their way to avoid me!”
After saying that, Yuche lounged in Yuzhe’s arms and glanced at Zixiao, as if to say she’d won again.
“That doesn’t sound very nice...” Yuzhe said slowly. It felt a little too domineering to make people afraid of him like that...
At his words, Yuche turned around again and looped both arms around Yuzhe’s neck, pressing her whole body against him.
Her cheeks flushed slightly as she pressed her face as close to his as she could and spoke in a light, lilting voice. “There’s nothing wrong with it.”
Her faintly gleaming blue eyes reflected in his gaze. In them, Yuzhe saw what Yuche was thinking.
No words were needed. Yuzhe could see what was on his own little sister’s mind.
She didn’t care about anything else. It was as if nothing in the world mattered to her apart from Yuzhe.
But whenever something did happen, she’d solve the problem directly, using the most efficient method.
Or rather, she had only one rule for solving problems: as long as it benefited Big Brother, as long as it made him happy.
That was Yuche—a little sister who thought through every problem with Yuzhe at the center.
And for someone like her, Yuzhe thought there was no need to say anything.
But he didn’t want to dwell on that now. The most important thing today was dealing with Qi Xinye!
So, as he looked into Yuche’s sparkling eyes, Yuzhe brought up the real reason for today.
“Yuche, someone’s coming over today. Do you remember Qi Xinye from the Qi Family...?”
But the moment Yuche heard that name, the aura she gave off...
It gave Yuzhe and Zixiao the illusion that even the temperature around them was dropping...
