3. Congratulations, You’ve Pulled the In

In a daze, Yimo found himself in a dim room.

Before he could look around, the light in front of him caught his attention.

More precisely, it was a card that kept changing color!

Countless sparkling cards appeared before Yimo. They were spread out at first, but the next second they overlapped, their backs giving off all kinds of light.

If he looked closely, there was even a little blurb in the lower-right corner of his vision.

『Card Drop Rates:

N: 83.5% (white)

R: 10% (brass)

SR: 5% (silver)

SSR: 1% (gold)

SSR+: 0.5% (Qicai)』

Wait, was this… a gacha pull?

After years of gaming, Yimo immediately understood what was going on.

But before he could read the rest of the description, the card’s color had already settled.

White light…

Blindingly white light.

“Damn… That crappy system really did screw me over!”

Yimo grumbled to himself. The earlier promise of a free first character customization that hadn’t worked out felt like finally figuring out the ultimate game strategy, only for his internet to suddenly cut out and refuse to reconnect.

Normally, when you ranted about a game, you’d blame the company’s CEO.

Unfortunately, Yimo had no idea who the CEO of this supposedly real game company was, so he could only silently sacrifice some of the damn system’s lifespan—the one pretending to be a loli.

Yimo hadn’t expected much. He didn’t even know what he was pulling for, but who wouldn’t want to pull an SSR and become one of the lucky ones?

A plain old N…

Whatever. That’s just how life goes. There wasn’t much to get mad about, anyway. It was only a single pull, and knowing how bad his luck usually was, Yimo might’ve felt uneasy if he’d actually gotten something amazing.

But then, at that very moment—

As the white card flipped over, Qicai light rippled across it, nearly blinding Yimo.

It felt like staring straight into a spotlight onstage.

The Qicai card turned over, and a halo of Qicai light rippled outward. The system’s notification rang in Yimo’s ears.

『Congratulations! You drew an SSR+ card: Exclusive Limited Edition—Alter-Personality Girlfriend.』

『Card Description: Be grateful! You’ve sacrificed the rest of your natural lifespan for this! You’re a single loser, and yet you’ve been assigned a beautiful girlfriend in a Death Game! Heh… Burn in hell!』

Uh…

Yimo seriously suspected that this so-called system was sentient and could read his thoughts.

If Yimo was on the third floor with this one, the system was definitely on the roof!

Before Yimo could react, the system was already asking if he wanted to keep drawing cards.

Of course, it cost points: 500 for a single pull, or 5,000 for ten. There was no discount, but a ten-pull guaranteed at least one SR.

Since Yimo had zero points, there was nothing to consider. The option was skipped outright.

By then, he could already hear other people nearby.

But before Yimo could look around, the view before him changed again. Rows of text appeared, accompanied by the Loli System’s voice, which sounded noticeably less emotional than before.

『Game Name: The Killer in the Mine.』

『Game Type: Survival.』

『Participants: 8.』

『Game Rules: 1. Players are divided into two factions: the Killer faction and the Survivors faction. If all the Survivors die, the Killer faction wins. If the Killer disappears or fails to complete the required objectives, the Survivors faction wins.

2. The Killer’s physical abilities are doubled. Upon receiving the role, they automatically receive a weapon and can attack any Survivor.

3. Survivors cannot attack the Killer or other Survivors.

4. One random Survivor receives an “Exorcism Talisman.” If the player given the talisman by the system is attacked by the Killer, the Killer dies.

5. Undisclosed.

6. Undisclosed.

7. The losing faction will be punished with death.

8. The effects of game cards take precedence over the current game rules.』

『Game Introduction: This isn’t an ordinary mine. It’s full of strange and inexplicable things, so it wouldn’t be surprising if there were a Killer in here, would it?

But when someone picks up a knife and kills, is it a person—or a ghost?』

This was ridiculous… absolutely ridiculous!!!

That was Yimo’s first thought. Ever since he’d started using that crappy gaming platform app, everything that happened had been beyond his understanding.

Still, he didn’t dare let his guard down. He studied the game introduction carefully.

Once all the rows of text had appeared, Yimo found he could hide or display the rules. Instead of paying attention to the others, he immediately hid them and checked the card he’d just drawn.

At the thought, the card appeared before him.

A card glowing with Qicai light appeared in his vision. It seemed to show a beautiful girl’s picture along with some stats.

Unfortunately, they were all covered in mosaic blur.

『Alter-Personality Girlfriend (Unreleased)』

Beneath a sea of mosaic blur, only two lines of information were visible.

『Alter Personality: 42%』

『Card Ability: …』

There were only two lines. The first made no sense to him.

After reading the second, Yimo’s heart skipped a beat, and his brow furrowed.

Before Yimo could think it over, a rather obnoxious voice caught his attention.

“What the hell is this place?!”

“A Killer? What kind of game is this?!”

“Wasn’t this supposed to be a game with cute girls?!”

“Let me out! Or when I get my hands on you, I’ll beat you to a pulp!”

Yimo was in a shabby room that looked like a storeroom, roughly 50 square meters in size. It was packed with all kinds of junk, coated in a thick layer of dust, and had no windows. The white lights were rather dim, flickering now and then as if there were a loose connection.

The one shouting was a young man with dyed blond hair, trendy clothes, and an earring. He was cursing up a storm.

A line of semi-transparent text hovered above his head: “Arrogant Young Master Six.”

“Yeah, yeah! What did you do to me?!”

“If anything happens to me, my dad will never let you get away with it!”

As the blond teenager kept shouting, a Little Delinquent with dyed blond hair and heavy makeup joined in. The text above her head read, “I Love Big Brother.”

Unlike the boy, though, the Little Delinquent had burst into tears.

Some of the others looked annoyed, while others remained expressionless, as if they were looking at corpses. Most had backed away a few steps, keeping their distance from the pair.

Among them, a beautiful girl with long pink hair in a JK uniform caught Yimo’s attention.

Of course, it wasn’t because she had a great figure or was pretty.

It was simply because her red eyes were fixed on him, cold and venomous as a snake’s.

Was she… his girlfriend?

Yimo instinctively shivered and tried to look away, but her eyes seemed to hold him in their grip. He couldn’t tear himself away, and cold sweat had already gathered at the back of his neck.

She… wanted to kill him…

Yimo didn’t know why, but he had that feeling.

Just as Yimo was wondering what to do next, someone tapped him on the shoulder. A warm, friendly voice sounded by his ear. “Hey, buddy. Got a minute to talk?”
