Facing the alternating attacks of five monsters tested not only a Spirit Master’s ability to control the overall situation, but also their reflexes.

The woman could dodge the five wild wolves’ attacks, but almost every time, she only just managed to get out of the way.

She tried to break out of the wild wolves’ encirclement, but whenever she jumped out of the ring, the five wolves would surround her again. In the end, she had no choice but to abandon the idea.

“Damn it! How could there be so many monsters in a place like this? And one of them’s Level 40. There shouldn’t be any monsters like that around here. Could the fighting in Dragon City have taken a turn for the worse?”

With her katana in hand, the woman didn’t dare let her guard down for even a moment.

Red and purple light alternated across her body as she switched between the two powers. This situation was seriously tricky. The woman really wished she still had a third power—the wind attribute. Then she wouldn’t be at a disadvantage when it came to speed.

Seeing the woman standing fully on guard, the Level 40 wild wolf didn’t want to waste any more time.

“Hahaha, human woman. You’re strong. You’ve killed so many of my subordinates, and now you’ve come through our combined attacks without a scratch. I have to commend you for that. But… this is where it ends. Everyone, attack! Use your final move!”

At the wild wolf leader’s command, the wolves began racing around the woman at incredible speed. They ran so fast that the five wolves’ forms stretched into long, blurry streaks. Sand and dust billowed into the air, and their tracks grew clearer by the second. As time passed, the circle formed by the five wolves grew smaller and smaller.

The woman guarded herself in every direction. Suddenly, her katana turned purple, and a special circular magic array appeared beneath her feet.

She didn’t know when the five wolves would attack, so all she could do was prepare in advance. She laid a circular lightning-attribute magic array beneath her feet. The moment the pack drew close, the array would activate.

The woman looked utterly serious, and a trace of sweat beaded on her forehead. It was clear from her expression that she was nervous.

The ring of wolves grew smaller and smaller, slowly entering the magic array.

At that moment, the woman decided the timing was right.

“Lightning Strike! Appear!!!”

Crackle! One bolt of wild lightning after another crashed down, instantly blasting a huge area around the woman into deep craters. The lightning sent sand and dirt flying, and she could see nothing around her.

The woman stayed on guard. She knew the attack hadn’t worked, and now the swirling dust put her at an even greater disadvantage.

At that moment, she suddenly felt more and more foolish.

“Human woman! Die!”

A roar rang out from nearby, and a wolf suddenly leaped into view.

The woman was startled and was about to raise her katana to defend herself when another wolf appeared behind her. And that wolf was the leader.

The Level 40 wolf leader saw that the woman had her back to it. She had no time to defend herself; it was sure its attack had landed. Then it heard a sound, but the noise all around it was too loud to make out what it was. Just as its claws were about to rake the woman’s back, its body slammed into something with a solid thunk. The other wolves were about to attack the woman they had surrounded, but the same thing happened to them. They all hit something and bounced back from the impact.

The woman was stunned, but she had no time to think about it. Seizing the opportunity, she and her katana both turned red. She unleashed a fluid series of slashes at the five wild wolves that had been knocked back.

Roaring flames swallowed all five wild wolves, accompanied by cries of pain.

When the flames began to die down, a shadow was still standing within them.

The sound of rapid, ragged breathing could be heard from far away.

“What in the world happened? How could there be an Invisible Wall in the air?”

…
