Xi Feng woke up because she was hungry.

“Ugh… What time is it?”

She groaned softly and picked up her phone to wake the screen. It read 7:42 p.m.

Looks like she’d slept through the entire day.

“How can I sleep this much…?” Xi Feng felt a little annoyed. Was this body really that sleepy?

She hadn’t eaten anything since waking up that morning. After a whole day, her stomach was completely empty, and the long stretch without food had her brain sending out constant hunger signals.

Rubbing her bleary eyes, Xi Feng sat up in bed. The weakness and exhaustion that clung to her from head to toe kept reminding her that the morning’s events hadn’t been a dream. She really had turned into a frail, white-haired vampire girl.

Xi Feng could only sigh at her rotten luck and miserable fate.

The future ahead was shrouded in darkness and uncertainty, but what else could she do? She’d just have to make the best of it…

After thinking it over, Xi Feng decided to change clothes and head to the shopping area across from her apartment complex to find something to eat and satisfy her growling stomach.

She did know how to cook, a skill few men had. But given her current condition, she decided to eat out. If she couldn’t hold a knife steady and chopped off a finger, that’d be a real mess.

She slipped out of her nightdress and caught sight of her new, childlike frame. The unfamiliar sight made her pause; she was small and slender, with legs that looked almost perfectly proportioned.

The sight of her unfamiliar body made her face turn bright red. Even her pale neck flushed, and she felt heat rush through her as strange thoughts started creeping into her mind.

She looks so cute... I really want to touch her...

“Ugh, Xi Feng, get a grip. Don’t even start having weird thoughts about your own body.” She scolded herself under her breath and quickly looked away, mortified.

Being single for so long that she was having strange thoughts about her own body, too… It left Xi Feng with a hollow, indescribable feeling.

She opened the wardrobe. The clothes inside made Xi Feng lower her head in dismay. “I knew it…”

Just as she’d feared, all the clothes in her wardrobe had been replaced. Her usual casual pants and baggy shorts were gone, replaced by skirts of every length. The longer ones might reach her knees; the shortest barely covered her shorts.

Looking lower, she saw that her old boxers had been replaced with an assortment of women’s underwear. A quick glance revealed all sorts of styles and colors, along with a whole array of socks.

“Lilian, you’re so thoughtful. Thanks a damn lot.” Xi Feng tried to hold back her anger, her face dark with irritation.

The least you could’ve done was leave her old clothes alone!

Even though her body had turned into a girl’s, she still instinctively resisted wearing girls’ clothes.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like pretty skirts. She sometimes browsed Taobao for cosplay outfits, but she’d only ever admired them from afar.

Nobody could dislike a pretty skirt. But if she had to wear one herself, she’d refuse a thousand times over.

After agonizing over it for a long while, Xi Feng picked out two relatively neutral pieces: a white women’s T-shirt and denim shorts.

Skirts were a little too big a step for now. She figured she’d need some time to get used to life as a girl before she could slowly try to accept them.

After a quick wash, Xi Feng put on her shoes and stepped outside. Just then, the elevator doors opened down the hall, and a girl walked out.

The girl looked about fifteen or sixteen. Her smooth, shoulder-length black hair fell like silk, and tiny stars seemed to glimmer in her deep blue eyes. Her skin was pale and soft, and her delicate, well-defined features made her a real beauty in the making.

Xi Feng knew the girl. Her name was Bei Yaoyue, and she lived on the same floor, making her something of a neighbor. She seemed rather aloof, though, always wearing the same cool expression around everyone. Xi Feng had greeted her a few times, but Bei Yaoyue had never responded. Eventually, Xi Feng stopped trying. Nobody liked being the only one making an effort.

But now she had no choice but to ask this icy beauty for help.

“Bei Yaoyue! Could you hold the elevator for me?” Xi Feng called as the doors began to close, hoping Bei Yaoyue would press the button to reopen them. If the elevator went up now, who knew how long Xi Feng would have to wait for it to come back down?

She was so hungry her stomach felt glued to her spine, and her head was starting to spin. She didn’t want to wait another minute.

She quickened her pace and jogged toward the elevator.

Whether Bei Yaoyue simply couldn’t be bothered or hadn’t understood what Xi Feng meant, she only glanced at her coolly and kept walking. The elevator doors quickly shut before Xi Feng’s despairing eyes.

As it turned out, when God closes a door on you, He doesn’t open a window. He slams the door right into your head instead.

She’d just gone from a muscular man who was 1.79 meters tall to a little girl nearly forty centimeters shorter. She still wasn’t used to controlling this body, and its physical ability was practically nonexistent. Her steps were already unsteady, and right then, her body sent out another hunger signal, making her head spin violently.

So Xi Feng had barely taken a few jogging steps when her left foot caught on her right, and she performed the classic visual-novel heroine move: an elegant face-plant.

“Waaah—!” Feeling herself lose her balance and pitch forward, Xi Feng cried out and instinctively shut her eyes.

“Thud—”

She heard a body hit the floor, but the agony she’d expected never came.

“Huh? It doesn’t hurt?” Xi Feng froze. Could that old idea really be true—that if you shut your eyes and don’t look, it won’t happen?

Was this the legendary quantum mechanics?

Confused, she opened her eyes and realized she hadn’t hit the floor directly. Someone was beneath her—Bei Yaoyue.

A soft body had cushioned her fall, so she wasn’t hurt. Bei Yaoyue didn’t seem as lucky, though. She lay motionless on the floor with her eyes shut, apparently unconscious after hitting her head.

“Hey! Bei Yaoyue, are you okay?” Panicking, Xi Feng hurriedly shook her, but Bei Yaoyue didn’t respond at all. Xi Feng was at a complete loss.

Was Bei Yaoyue badly hurt? Should she call 120? Would that be overreacting? But if she’d passed out, she must have hit her head hard. That couldn’t be something to ignore, could it? She really should call 120, right?

As Xi Feng tried to figure out what to do, her gaze happened to fall on Bei Yaoyue’s neck—and she couldn’t look away.

She’d never realized how striking a girl’s pale, smooth neck could look. Her hunger surged, and she felt an overpowering urge to bite.

She wanted to know what it tasted like…

Like someone who hadn’t eaten in days faced with a delicious meal, Xi Feng swallowed unconsciously.

When she suddenly came to her senses, she realized she’d somehow already bitten into the girl’s neck.

Dazed, she pulled away. She stared at the two tiny puncture wounds on Bei Yaoyue’s neck for a long moment. Then, feeling the hunger in her body gradually fade, Xi Feng finally understood what she’d done.

At last, she remembered something she’d forgotten ever since waking up: as a vampire, she naturally fed on human blood.

A faint metallic taste still lingered on her lips, but it didn’t make her feel sick. Instead, it carried a delicate jasmine-like fragrance, and she found herself licking her lips.

She knew it was human blood, but its rich, sweet taste, like a century-old liquor, left Xi Feng lost in its aftertaste for a long while.

“I’m done for… What did I just do? How did I bite her without even thinking…?”

Mortified, Xi Feng clasped both hands over her head and crouched down, burying her face between her knees in a defensive, head-in-hands pose.

Accidentally knocking over the girl next door and making her pass out was bad enough. But she’d gone and drunk her blood, too. How was she supposed to explain that when Bei Yaoyue woke up?

Normally, this was the kind of thing you’d call 110 about. But did what she’d done count as assault? Besides, she was a vampire now, the kind of creature that couldn’t survive in daylight. If the police took her in for questioning and noticed something strange, how could she go on living?

After weighing all her concerns, Xi Feng agonized over it and finally chose… to run!

If she didn’t know how to deal with it, then she just wouldn’t. Things would work themselves out in the end.

Besides, Bei Yaoyue had passed out after Xi Feng knocked her over. There was no way she’d know what Xi Feng had done. At worst, Xi Feng could apologize later for accidentally knocking her down, and that would be that.

With that in mind, Xi Feng quickly cleaned up the evidence and wiped the blood from Bei Yaoyue’s neck, then dashed back into her apartment.

And dinner? She’d just taken care of it.
