The cheers came to an abrupt halt.
In their place were the hollow expressions of everyone present—and the indistinct lump of flesh beneath Fenrir’s feet, split in two and reduced to a pool of blood.
“No way…”
Someone stared blankly and muttered under their breath.
The big fool had been laughing like an idiot just moments ago. Now, he’d become some unrecognizable object.
At last, the remaining adventurers realized the truth.
The creature standing before them was a genuine beast, not some injured puppy.
No words were needed. The next second, they all fled as one, their hearts perfectly in sync.
“Hey! What are you running for? Hurry up and save me!”
The fallen prince had gone limp beside Fenrir’s feet, reduced to a puddle of sludge. He cried for help through choked sobs.
“You’ve got to be kidding me! The boss is already G.G.’d. How could we possibly beat something like that?”
They shouted back, completely ignoring his cries.
The three remaining adventurers ran for their lives. Influenced by them, even the bootlicking soldiers abandoned their master and fled.
All that nonsense about never insulting or betraying the prince was complete bullshit when their lives were on the line!
Having experienced this scene of being abandoned by everyone more than once, the fallen prince simply accepted his fate.
He sprawled on the ground and waited for death.
However, Fenrir acted as if the fat pig beneath its feet didn’t exist.
It bared its long, sharp fangs, then leaped forward after the fleeing men.
What followed could only be described as an execution ground.
“Ah!”
“Don’t!”
“Help!”
The screams rose and fell, one after another.
Fenrir struck without hesitation.
The wolf king had just awakened from its slumber, yet it swatted at the adventurers like ants. One swipe took one down.
Before long, corpses lay scattered everywhere.
A peaceful scene, indeed~
“A monster… It’s a monster…”
Prince Zhu Bajie covered the crotch he could no longer keep dry.
While Fenrir toyed with those insects, he kept struggling to stand and escape.
Unfortunately, misfortune never comes alone.
Once bitten by a snake, even birdsong sounds ominous. When luck turns against someone, good fortune never seems to come.
After Fenrir finished playing with the fleeing men like scraps of meat, its gaze finally returned to Prince Zhu Bajie.
“No… No, no… Don’t come over… My meat doesn’t taste good at all…”
His shrill, hoarse wail echoed through the cavern.
Even Prince Zhu Bajie himself had never heard such a cry come from his own throat.
Fenrir advanced toward him, step by step.
Prince Zhu Bajie bawled until his nose ran. With his life hanging by a thread, he stretched out a hand and unleashed the strongest magic he could currently use.
A Water Bullet.
“Awwooo!”
Trying to stop a boulder with an egg.
That was the only phrase suitable for describing this attack.
The water struck Fenrir like rain hitting its body. The beast merely shook its fur, casually dispelling it without pain or effort.
“Is this for real…?”
Prince Zhu Bajie had expected it, yet unwillingness and fear still showed on his face.
“Die! Die! Die! Don’t come over! Don’t come over!”
His helpless screams continued alongside the falling droplets, echoing through the cavern.
They stopped only when Fenrir reached the screaming man.
“No! Don’t! I don’t want to die yet!”
A massive claw stopped directly above the prince’s head.
He looked up at the claw. Then he looked at the snarling beast.
Whether he wanted it or not, his life had reached its end.
As the melody of a death howl began to play, the giant claw descended in one smooth motion.
It swung straight toward the head of the Eighth Prince, Prince Zhu Bajie.
“It’s over.”
He closed his eyes and accepted his fate.
Prince Zhu Bajie expected to become another pool of blood.
Instead, his entire world suddenly began spinning.
Was this wolf planning to eat his brain? Was it going to pry his skull open?
That was a strangely particular taste, wasn’t it?
With that thought in mind, Prince Zhu Bajie instinctively covered his head with both hands.
Yet, as if deliberately ignoring his expectations, what came wasn’t a bloody, censored decapitation scene.
What came was his first experience of dizziness.
No—of rolling!
“Guh-guh-guh-guh… What’s going on…?”
Dazed, Prince Zhu Bajie opened his eyes.
At such close range, he could feel Fenrir’s breath against him. A giant version of a dog playing with a ball was unfolding right before him.
Prince Zhu Bajie realized that he had become a toy.
No—he was now Prince Ball-Ball.
And Prince Ball-Ball was suffering inside.
Being turned into a toy was worse than dying early.
Unfortunately, that thought was all he could do. He didn’t have the courage to climb into the monster’s mouth, much less take his own life.
The Eighth Prince had fallen into the role of a toy and was already prepared to give up.
But then—
“Ah, as expected of a husky. Its love of destruction and play really can’t be changed.”
A voice with a hint of childishness rang out.
It was none other than Cang Xiaoxi, who had remained nearby from beginning to end, watching the entire slaughter.
The boy quietly watched the man Fenrir was tossing around like a ball.
He did feel a little tempted to speak to him. But faced with this husky’s live ball-playing spectacle, he decided to watch a little longer.
After all, the boy was a dog person.
“Sa… Save… me…”
The prince, still being used as a ball, noticed Cang Xiaoxi’s presence.
Remembering that the boy possessed enough power to kill the Dragon Sovereign, he immediately called out to him for help.
Fortunately, the prince was “brilliantly clever” and had shown foresight.
He hadn’t picked a fight with Cang Xiaoxi. Surely, if he begged for mercy—or, at worst, brought up Lisdel’s name—the boy would save him.
“…”
But Cang Xiaoxi remained silent from beginning to end.
He treated the cries for help as nothing more than wind in his ears. He showed no intention of intervening.
He even yawned, looking bored.
Seeing this, the short temper of the nobility flared up.
“I command you, as the Eighth Prince, to come save me at once! Otherwise, you’ll regret it later!”
—Is he an idiot?
Cang Xiaoxi stared blankly.
Even now, the so-called Eighth Prince still dared to challenge him with his status.
The boy immediately lost all interest.
He didn’t even feel like continuing to watch the live dog-ball broadcast.
With an exasperated shake of his head, Cang Xiaoxi turned and walked away.
“Ahhh! Don’t go! Please, save me! I’ll give you anything you want! Just please, save me!”
His tone changed in less than a minute.
Cang Xiaoxi had merely stood up, yet the pitiful Eighth Prince had instantly surrendered.
Cang Xiaoxi cast a sidelong glance at the tragic prince, whose attitude had changed so completely that even he had to admit it was true fragrance taken to the extreme.
For two reasons, he silently recited an incantation, then lightly stamped the ground beneath his feet.
Boom!
Several massive earthen walls erupted beside Fenrir’s feet, forming a huge cage.
Fenrir couldn’t even struggle before Cang Xiaoxi, who had mastered most of his own power, captured it.
Watching the husky crash wildly around inside the earthen prison, Cang Xiaoxi remembered how much effort it had taken to restrain Fenrir the first time.
He gained a very clear sense of reality.
He really was quite strong.
Exactly how strong was he?
That was a little difficult to say.
In short, there was only one way to put it.
He was absurdly overpowered.
