Riding the wind forward, the Wolf King’s human form gradually crouched lower until all four limbs touched the ground. He transformed into a massive wolf with jet-black fur, eyes gleaming eerie green, throat rumbling a low growl, sharp fangs bared and glinting coldly under the moonlight.

Ferocity, courage, fearlessness, decisiveness—this was the wolf’s true nature!

His body blurred into a shadowy streak, every trace of presence utterly concealed. Only a supreme master who had reached the Ninth Tier could possibly detect him.

Showing off? As natural as the wind—always by my side.

To move with the wind, then silently reap a foe’s life within it… how effortlessly cool.

Every mission the Wolf King undertook unfolded with lightning precision—here one moment, gone the next. Effortless.

As leader of the wolf clan, king of the great mountains, a Fifth-Tier great demon, honed in assassination arts—he could call *any* task “easy.”

Reaching the small clinic, he paced slowly, sizing up the building.

A frontal breach would cause panic. If Su Zhaoyu traced it back… certain death.

Circling around, he slipped into the alley behind the house and spotted a window.

Propping himself on hind legs, he peered cautiously inside. Pitch black. The owner had long since gone to bed.

Perfect timing.

He bit through the iron wire mesh, slipped inside.

Ahead: a medicine counter. Beside him: stairs upward. No traps. Just an ordinary little clinic.

*This mission’s a breeze*, the Wolf King thought, padding lightly upstairs.

“Chips half-price at the supermarket today.”

A soft, mochi-like voice drifted from behind, followed by a crisp *crunch-crunch*.

The Wolf King frowned and turned. A girl with cat ears sat by the storage cabinet, munching oddly shaped root vegetable slices while reading the package.

Seeing him, Yuzi blinked her gray eyes—glowing faintly in the dark—as she regarded him.

*A little cat demon?* Confusion flickered. Then—a chill. Something else was watching.

Further back, the magical girl figurine on the folding stand had turned to face him, eyes pulsing dim crimson.

On the wall, a massive dragon head protruded downward, nostrils exhaling hot breath that ruffled his fur.

Three pairs of glowing eyes locked onto him from three directions.

Silence hung thick.

Then—the Wolf King pulled his limbs in, sat upright on his haunches, widened his eyes, perked his ears, stuck out his tongue, wagged his tail, and let out a soft:

"Woof~"

Morning sunlight streamed through the window. Lu Feng rubbed his eyes, stretched, opened the pane, and breathed deep.

Another beautiful day.

As usual, he combed Yuzi’s hair, brushed his teeth, washed up, and headed downstairs—only to freeze.

Crouched at the stairwell: a wolf… no, a dog? But far too large for any normal breed.

Lu Feng studied the creature, uncertain.

*Huff… huff… huff…*

The “big dog” panted, tongue out, tail wagging eagerly.

Behavior screamed *dog*—just unnaturally huge. Maybe a mutation?

"Come. Paw." Lu Feng crouched, palm out.

The dog stepped forward, placing a forepaw gently on his hand.

"Sit."

It sat instantly.

"Open."

Afraid to bare fangs, it merely curled its lips into a strained smile.

"Bark."

"Woof!"

Definitely a dog—and judging by that goofy face, a well-trained Husky.

"Yuzi, know whose dog this is?" Lu Feng glanced back. Yuzi swung her little feet at the table, sipping milk.

"Last night… crawled in."

"A stray?" He checked the window. The wire mesh was torn.

"No wonder so many mosquitoes." He leaned out. The screen lay crumpled behind the house.

He looked from broken window to the obedient "Husky."

"Yuzi, keep him?"

"It… won’t transform," Yuzi said, pointing.

"If it can’t transform, fine. Guard dog duty." Lu Feng scratched his head, a hint of regret in his voice.

*Transform? Into a human? How dare I…*

The "big dog" seethed inwardly. Last night—surrounded by the magical girl figurine, the ink-painted dragon on the wall, and that cat demon—all staring coldly. He’d spent hours sitting rigid on the floor, tongue out, tail wagging, pretending to be harmless.

His butt still felt ice-cold…

And from the man’s tone? He clearly hoped this "dog" would one day become a kemonomimi girl. If it turned into a burly man instead… *shudder*.

He clenched his hind legs tight, hiding everything.

*Damn it…*

"Him… cannot ride," Yuzi added, still swaying her tail.

"Dogs aren’t for riding," Lu Feng said.

"At night… also cannot ride."

"…We don’t ride dogs at night either," Lu Feng replied, sweat beading on his brow. *Why does that sound weird?*

"Anyway," Lu Feng crouched before the dog, flashing what he thought was a kind smile, "until your owner finds you, guard this place. Okay?"

The "big dog" broke into a cold sweat and nodded—frantically, repeatedly.

*Refuse? I’ll be a corpse by noon.*

"Good boy." Lu Feng ruffled his head and ears. "From today, your name is Hallelujah."

The dog kept nodding, tail wagging hard.

*Look how happy he is.*

"Yuzi, bring the old cat food?"

"No."

"Why?"

"This way… I can bully it."

*Bullying? Please no.* Another sweatdrop trailed down Lu Feng’s temple.

*Right—Huskies wreck houses. She’s just setting boundaries. And her words are still simple; she’s learning.*

Plenty of time to teach her human ways—and pharmacy basics. She could help fetch supplies.

"Alright. Watch him," Lu Feng said, patting Hallelujah’s head.

"Mm." Yuzi sipped her milk, tone flat.

Only the Husky on the floor felt a deep, soul-chilling dread…
