“Satisfied? Indeed, quite good.”

Yun Daidai heard Yun Mingyue’s reply. That inexplicable sting in her chest sharpened—as if something rightfully hers had been stolen.

She clenched the hem of her dress, breath tight with the sudden emotional surge.

“I’m heading back to my room.”

Yun Mingyue watched silently. Given her temperament and their long-strained relationship, comfort was never an option.

“I have one more thing to say,” Yun Daidai paused on the stairs. “I’m moving out.”

“Alone? Or with your boyfriend?” Yun Mingyue asked.

Yun Daidai froze. Her mother’s words struck a raw nerve. With effort, she whispered, “Living alone.”

To save face, she added quickly, “Didn’t you co-found a new company with the government? I’ll apply for an internship there. Be self-reliant.”

“Oh?” Yun Mingyue’s tone lifted slightly. “You know I won’t lift a finger for you.”

“I know.” Yun Daidai suppressed the gloom. Zhou You had nothing to do with her mother—it was just today’s block that left her unsteady.

She turned and climbed the stairs, step by hesitant step.

Yun Mingyue narrowed her eyes, studying Yun Daidai’s flustered, retreating figure. She had a faint guess what happened.

“Should I have someone look into Daidai’s boyfriend?” She didn’t even know his face.

Five days had passed since Zhou You and Yun Daidai broke up.

Chen Youzi spent her time hinting to Zhou You that “sometimes the scenery around you is lovelier,” while tirelessly helping her sister search for someone.

In the rich wives’ group chat, only “Flourishing Wealth” and “Romance in Ice City” had surfaced lately. The others seemed suddenly busy.

That day, dressed neatly, Yun Daidai arrived at Yun Mingyue’s new company—only to spot someone unexpected.

“Zhou You?”

She hid outside the conference room, peering in. Staff nearby turned a blind eye; she was the group’s young miss, after all.

Inside, the interview neared its end. The panel nodded at Zhou You’s competence.

“One final question,” said the female government-appointed specialist at the center. “Why intern here?”

A classic.

Zhou You paused thoughtfully. “Reading history, the Paris Peace Conference struck me deeply. We were victors yet disrespected. Times changed. Now our nation stands strong.”

“We have the right to tell any country: *You are not qualified to speak to us from a position of strength.*"

“So I aim to become a diplomat. Your company—a vibrant, semi-government enterprise—is the perfect place to grow.”

“I hope one day to stand before countless people, representing the sleeping lion, voice firm and confident.”

“We may criticize ourselves, but outsiders have no right to judge.”

A quiet stir rippled through the panel. They sighed inwardly—*youth, so full of fire.*

Outside, Yun Daidai pressed her lips tight. Her grip on the doorknob whitened her knuckles.

She could barely believe the young man inside was her ex.

“And I share a surname with a certain great figure—my idol,” Zhou You added with a playful wink.

The female interviewer smiled. As a government representative, she admired his drive.

Capable. Passionate. *As they say: “The organization holds you in high regard.”*

“You may wait for our reply.”

“Thank you.”

Zhou You bowed and left. Yun Daidai instinctively shrank back, then stepped forward, hand raised.

“Zhou You…”

Her whisper barely escaped. He didn’t pause—just strode toward the exit, pulling out his buzzing phone with a helpless sigh.

Yun Daidai stood frozen, one hand suspended, the other pressed hard against her stomach.

*My stomach hurts.*

Outside, Zhou You tucked his phone away and glanced back, puzzled.

“Thought I heard Miss Yun’s voice… Must be my imagination.”

He checked the doorplate and typed:

Handsome and Thoughtful God: [Sister Flourishing, I’m at 321 Dongpo Road.]

Flourishing Wealth: [What a coincidence! I’m nearby. Wait just a moment—I’ll wrap up quickly.]

Yun Mingyue pocketed her phone and glanced at Sun Qing, who had been watching her “flirt” with an unreadable expression.

Sun Qing sprang to attention, handing over the interview files.

“Chairwoman, new hires for your review.”

“Set them aside. Anything noteworthy?”

Yun Mingyue asked casually. HR would never highlight standouts to Sun Qing.

“Nothing official, but I overheard them praising an intern,” Sun Qing said, sliding one file forward.

Yun Mingyue’s gaze locked onto Zhou You’s photo.

“Him? What did they say?”

“They all spoke highly of him. If you’re willing, a better placement could be arranged.”

Sun Qing had pieced it together from fragments—accurately, as expected of Yun Mingyue’s most trusted secretary.

“Transfer him to the secretarial department.”

Sun Qing hesitated. The Yun Group’s secretarial department had *always* been women-only.

“That’s all for today.” Yun Mingyue signed documents launching projects totaling a small fortune. “I have more important matters.”

Sun Qing smiled politely. *More important than hundreds of millions?*

Zhou You hadn’t waited long when crisp footsteps approached.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.”

He turned. Yun Mingyue wore a floral maxi dress, collarbone delicately framed. With each step, her ankles flashed subtly—innocent yet alluring.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

His heart raced. Just like his first sight of Yun Daidai. The flutter of first love.

*Big sister really knows how to charm.*
