Chapter 11: Exploring the Witch's Tower

Though the room was spacious, the bed plush, and exotic fruits she’d never tasted lined the tables, Morningstar still grew restless.

As a modern person, over half her day was usually spent with screens.

No phone, no computer—no matter how delicious the food, it felt meaningless.

“Ahhh, so boring!”

Clutching her hair in near despair, Morningstar scanned the lavish chamber. Gorgeous, yes—but not a single entertainment device in sight.

She longed to dive into *Elden Ring*, lose herself in *Red Dead Redemption*… heck, even a phone to log into *Genshin Impact* for five minutes would’ve been bliss.

Bored out of her mind, she finally dragged herself off the bed.

“This is the Witch’s Spire. Until I leave, it’s my home. As master, I should at least see what it looks like, right?”

The Spire had one hundred floors. She stood at the very top—never yet glimpsing the others.

Stepping out of the grand castle on Floor 100, she faced a world of chirping birds and blooming flowers. Her tension eased… until a dark shadow dropped from the sky.

The Dragon Maiden knelt before her, one knee to the ground. “Master, your command?”

“I just want to walk around. Get familiar.”

“Of course, Master.”

Within the Witch’s Spire, doors were unnecessary—thought alone enabled teleportation. Under the Dragon Maiden’s guidance, Morningstar quickly mastered it.

Conquering the Spire felt like an RPG: one hundred floors total. Every tenth floor held one of the Dark Sorceress’s Guardians—a minor boss—while the rest teemed with lesser monsters.

Yet even those “lesser” monsters could annihilate a nation if unleashed beyond these walls.

That was the Dragon Maiden’s explanation. But reality proved vastly different.

Where were the promised monsters? Nothing.

“Hm? Where *are* the monsters?”

They first visited Floor 10. According to the Dragon Maiden, its Guardian was the Bone Maiden—a top-tier necromancer—so all ten floors under her domain should swarm with undead.

But Morningstar saw not a single skeleton soldier. Only endless bleached bones stretched across the ground.

“Master, all Guardians except myself were defeated by the human-god alliance. Without them, the lesser monsters lost their power source and vanished. Fear not—once an heir is chosen, new Guardians will awaken. This servant cannot choose them for you. Only you may.”

Morningstar stayed silent. The Dragon Maiden pressed no further. She knew: once the soul fully settled into this wicked body, the old master would return.

“This floor lies barren, Master. But other regions still hold life.”

She teleported Morningstar to Floor 40. Unlike Floor 10’s eerie desolation, this place felt… oddly appetizing.

Everything shimmered like jelly: semi-transparent trees, a vast lake of wobbling gelatin—a colossal pudding landscape.

*Jiggle… jiggle… jiggle…*

After Morningstar appeared, round, bouncy blobs hopped toward her—spherical jelly creatures with two dot-like eyes.

Slimes!

“So cute!” Morningstar’s inner fangirl surged. She dashed forward and scooped up the blue Slime.

Soft. Cool. Soothing.

“So bouncy~ I wonder how it tastes?”

The Slime, blissfully nestled in her arms with contented eyes (-.-), suddenly froze. Eyes shot wide (0.0), then it squirmed frantically (>_<) and wriggled free.

“How dare this impudent creature flee! To be devoured by the Master is an honor!” The Dragon Maiden’s voice sharpened. Had Morningstar not held her back, fire would’ve incinerated the Slime instantly.

“Master, low-tier monsters lack intelligence. They don’t understand respect.”

“Then what’s a high-tier Slime like?” Morningstar asked, curious. Games always showed basic Slimes—but never the advanced kind.

“The highest is the Slime Queen,” the Dragon Maiden replied, a hint of jealousy in her tone. “Humanoid form, Slime traits. Master… you adored her most.”

“Adored her…” Morningstar’s mind raced: a girl-shaped figure, semi-transparent, jelly-like body?

This… felt strangely bizarre. Yet undeniably alluring.

“Indeed. You loved curling up inside her, saying it felt like a mother’s embrace.”

*Pfft—!* Morningstar nearly choked. She’d imagined “adoring” meant cuddling—not *this*!

This Dark Sorceress was utterly depraved. Ten times more perverted than her former male self.

*Never. I will never become her.* The thought chilled her.

“May I ask… how large is the Slime Queen?”

“If age, I don’t know. But size? She can expand to match my true dragon form… or shrink to a basketball.”

“That huge?”

“Naturally~ In battle, she once swallowed ten thousand soldiers in one gulp. Digested them clean.”

*Gulp.*

Morningstar shuddered. How could the Dark Sorceress enjoy being enveloped like that? Wasn’t she afraid of being digested?

…Wait.

At the thought, her own body felt… strangely stirred.

A flicker of longing?

“Slime vs. Sorceress? No no no! What am I thinking!”

She shook her head hard, banishing the thought.

“Anywhere else, Master?”

“No. Let’s stop exploring.”

She feared uncovering more of the Dark Sorceress’s… peculiar tastes. Learning them might awaken this body’s instincts. Disaster.

Best stay quiet. Stay safe.

“Just take me to find the world-crossing magic.”
