She was nothing like the world-destroying Dark Sorceress the Little Dragoness had described. She was obviously just some dirty old pervert who wanted a harem. Her whole vibe dropped several tiers in an instant.
“Master, do you want to return to the world you used to live in?”
“Yeah, yeah! More than anything!” Morningstar nodded hard, but the Little Dragoness’s next words hit her like a club to the head.
“Sadly, Master, you can’t go back for now.”
“Why not? If you could drag me here, then you can definitely send me back!”
“Master, the magic that guided you into this world was something you left behind back then. How could I possibly have the power to cross between worlds? That spell only worked once, so...”
“If it’s my magic, then I should be able to use it, right?” Morningstar caught the key point at once. If her current identity was really that overpowered, then crossing worlds should be possible too, right?
“Master, right now you can only use magic below the sixth tier, because spells at that level can be cast without chanting. But for higher-tier magic, even you need an incantation. And only you know what that incantation is. Even if you did know it, you still might not be able to cast it, because your current power is less than a third of what it was at your peak. Without enough mana, you still can’t release powerful magic. So, Master, you need to reclaim your power.”
“Magic needs incantations too? But I don’t know any!” Unlike those spells she could throw out casually, even Morningstar needed chants for high-tier magic. But she had no memories from when she was the witch.
“So if Master wants to go back, you must recover your memories. If you want to recover your memories, you need enough power. And if you want enough power, then you must drench this world in darkness.”
“What kind of logic is that supposed to be?”
“Your power comes from darkness. The stronger the darkness in this world, the greater your power will become. Of course, that’s only if you’re also reclaiming your treasures.”
“Reclaiming my treasures?”
“Back then, you condensed this world’s darkness and evil into a crown, a necklace, four rings, and a magic orb. After your defeat, the other races took them all away to prevent your power from reviving.”
“This...” Morningstar had no idea whether the Little Dragoness was telling the truth. Should she just beat her up properly and force the truth out of her?
The moment that evil thought appeared, Morningstar quickly shook her head. She kept reminding herself that she wasn’t a bad person. She couldn’t do bad things.
“So I need items too...”
“Don’t worry, Master. I’ve already found the whereabouts of most of them.”
“You could actually track down things that important?”
“These treasures can grant immense power, but they also drag people into darkness. At first, every race guarded them well. But as time passed, the world’s fear of the Dark Sorceress gradually faded, and so did their caution toward those treasures. Plenty of people failed to resist the temptation of power. The races even fought quite a few wars over them.”
A slight smile curled at the Dragoness’s lips. In her eyes, the slaughter between other races was a wonderful thing. She’d love nothing more than to see the whole world swallowed by war.
“Getting those things back... are you sure we can do it?”
The Dragoness kept saying she was powerful, but Morningstar was still timid by nature. What if the people guarding those treasures were insanely strong? If she couldn’t beat them, wouldn’t she be done for?
“How about this, Master? Come back with me to the Witch’s Spire. That is your home. Maybe you’ll find a magic book there that records the world-crossing spell. Then we can slowly think about the treasure issue afterward.”
“I guess that’s the only option.”
At this point, Morningstar could only do as the Little Dragoness said and head back to that so-called home of the witch first, to see if there was any way to return.
“Mhm! Then please climb on, Master!”
As soon as she finished speaking, a violent blast of air burst from the Little Dragoness’s body. In the next second, she transformed back into that enormous black dragon.
Looking at that colossal monster in front of her, the sudden crushing pressure almost made Morningstar piss herself.
But then she remembered that she was supposedly this creature’s master. How could a master lose composure in front of her pet? So she forced herself to stay calm.
“Ahem... you mean I’m supposed to ride you?”
“Hurry and get on, Master. It’s been so long since I last carried you.” The dragon’s voice couldn’t hide its excitement. She was breathing hard with anticipation, and the gusts from her nostrils were strong enough to whip up a sandstorm.
“O-Okay, I got it.” Morningstar endured the trembling in her legs and turned to pick up the Divine Maiden.
The poor girl kept passing out over and over. She didn’t have a shred of the Divine Clan’s dignity left.
Holding her in her arms, Morningstar could feel the girl’s soft body even through the armor. Even though she had turned into a girl herself, for some reason Chen Chen still felt a little...
Excited.
It was as if this Dark Sorceress’s body held a strange craving for the girl in her arms, like the feeling of a dirty old man seeing a beautiful woman. No, it was even stronger than that.
But she was a girl now, wasn’t she? So why was she still feeling this way? Could it be that this witch was just like that by nature?
“Could this witch really be some old pervert?”
“Ahem, ahem.” She hurriedly shifted her attention to the dragon. Then Morningstar used magic to levitate her body and fly onto the dragon’s back.
“Sit tight, Master!”
The dragon slowly raised her wings, each with a span of over a thousand meters. Every flap kicked up huge clouds of dust from the ground.
Her massive body slowly lifted off. Morningstar was still wondering how fast something this huge could possibly fly when, in the next second, a heavy boom rang out and the scenery before her changed at once.
The land below started racing backward. Around the dragon’s body were shockwaves formed from breaking the sound barrier.
But strangely, even though the dragon was flying this fast, Morningstar didn’t feel the slightest wind pressure or bumpiness. Sitting on the dragon’s back felt incredibly steady.
“This is way more thrilling than flying on a plane. That’s amazing.”
Morningstar admired the mountains flashing past on both sides. After a while, she patted the dragon’s back. “How much longer till we get there?”
“Very soon, Master,” the dragon replied. Then she opened her mouth and spat a mass of pitch-black fire into the distance.
The fireball shot across the sky and exploded at the horizon. Black flames covered half the heavens. When the flames dispersed, a crack had been torn open in the sky.
The dragon beat her wings and flew straight into the rift.
The moment they entered it, the scenery before Chen Chen’s eyes changed instantly. The star-filled sky was now a vast blood-red expanse, with only a lone blood moon hanging overhead.
The ground had changed from desert into a barren, dried wasteland. Cracks covered the earth, and lava occasionally burst from them.
There was no sign of any living thing. The place looked like hell itself.
“This is the Demon Realm. Up ahead is your home, Master—the Witch’s Spire.”
The moment they entered this world, Morningstar had already noticed that structure. From afar, it looked like a black pillar driven between heaven and earth. The longer she looked at it, the more it resembled something indescribable.
