045. Why Is It Always You?!

“Hiss~”

“My leg hurts so much…”

When An Han woke the next morning, his legs felt utterly foreign.

He sat up in disbelief, pressing sore thighs and calves, utterly baffled.

Maybe he’d just been inactive too long?

But it was only a few days during the National Day holiday. A few kilometers of jogging shouldn’t hurt this much—he’d stretched thoroughly before and after.

Come to think of it… yesterday’s run felt off too.

Rubbing his calf, An Han frowned. His calves should’ve held lean runner’s muscle. Now his fingers sank into softness.

Flexing brought a faint muscle hint—but nothing like before.

“Thought it was just… turning girly,” he muttered, gritting his teeth as he slowly, painstakingly climbed out of bed.

“Who knows what my body’ll become if stats keep rising…”

He couldn’t picture it: chest swelling absurdly voluptuous, rivaling some light novel heroine.

How terrifying.

Staying holed up in the dorm was definitely the move.

Staggering to the balcony to wash up, he glanced up—and spotted Su Peng brushing his teeth on the neighboring balcony.

“Morning,” Su Peng called across the narrow gap.

“Morning.”

“Duo queue later?”

An Han shook his head coldly. “Nah.”

Su Peng blinked, stunned. After a beat, he scratched his head. “What’s wrong? Someone upset you?”

*System!*

But An Han couldn’t say that. He just shook his head with forced gloom.

He hated people who sulk silently yet act distant—but here he was, mimicking exactly that.

Yet Su Peng showed no annoyance. Leaning closer, voice warm: “Just tell me. We’re close—what can’t you say?”

*Who said we’re close?*

An Han rolled his eyes inwardly, stayed silent, and focused on rinsing his face.

“Bad mood? Been stuck in the dorm too long?”

“You’re annoying. Leave me alone.”

“How about shopping?” Su Peng leaned on the railing. “Boring with two? Invite Ke Xin.”

An Han sucked in a breath, lip curling. “No! Stop bothering me!”

*Now get mad and ignore me, please.*

Guilt pricked him for snapping—but avoiding a System trigger left no choice.

“Oh, the dorm next door’s hosting a singles mixer. Wanna check it out?”

“No!”

“Heard lots of girls there,” Su Peng coaxed.

An Han wouldn’t admit a flicker of interest. “Girls? Nah. Games are better.”

“Tch. Fine. I’ll go alone.”

*Singles mixer = students hunting partners. So Su Peng wants a girlfriend.*

At least not me.

An Han had feared the near-90 affection points meant Su Peng was fixated on him. But… men are naturally poly. Especially a handsome guy like Su Peng—probably a player behind the scenes.

Suppressing a trace of envy, he waved dismissively. “Go ahead. I’m resting today.”

“Resting?”

“Twisted my ankle jogging yesterday.”

“Figures.”

Seeing An Han’s clear reluctance, Su Peng didn’t push further. Wiped his face and headed inside.

*Why’s he moodier than a girl?*

Yesterday: meek apology. Day before: clingy enthusiasm. Today: icy cold.

Was even An Han’s personality turning girly now?

Back in the dorm, An Han slumped before his computer with utter despair, legs crossed, kneading his calves.

Pain killed gaming urge. He clicked a trending drama everyone mocked online.

“Ugh, modern dramas suck…” he muttered.

“Over-edited faces—unrecognizable. Calls itself an esports drama? All romance. Painful to watch.”

“If a pro said ‘I’ll throw the match’ in real life? I’d drag him online first.”

“Wang Sheng’d rage-quit watching this.”

Worse than imagined. He’d rather trigger a new task outside than torture his eyes. Closed the tab. Stared blankly.

Wait—the System upgrade came with a costume-changing item.

An Han rushed to the wardrobe, pulled out a toy-like camera.

Snap someone: copy their makeup, hair, outfit. One camera = endless stylists.

Cool? Sure. But he needed zero makeup. And—System items always hide side effects!

Remember the chest binder? Who knew it’d make him *charm men*?!

“I swear—if I use another System item, I’m a dog!”

Yesterday’s trauma fresh, curiosity burning—he raised the camera, ready to smash it.

Break it = no temptation.

But after a full minute… he lowered it.

*What if… it’s useful someday?*

Stuffed it into a drawer. Looked like a kid’s toy. Harmless. No one’d steal it—phones take better photos anyway.

“Things are getting worse.”

He stood, pulled out the ordinary chest binder he’d bought online.

Tried it before. Terrible. Nowhere near the System’s custom version.

Hid chest size? Barely. Made breathing hard. Under summer’s thin shirts? Obvious extra layer.

“Return it! ‘Invisible’ chest binder? Invisible my foot!”

Deftly boxed it, grabbed package and ID, headed out.

Door swung open. An Han turned to lock it—

Ren Chi strode down the hall straight toward him.

“Advisor?”

“An Han, I need to talk.”

“You—”

An Han cut in: “I’m busy. Ask Su Peng next door?”

Then froze.

Shoved the box behind his back. Hands clasped tight. Forced an awkward yet polite smile. Words gone.

*He saw the packaging!*

*Why… is it always you?!*
