"Let me tell you—if I ever turn into a malevolent ghost, it’ll be entirely your fault! This is so damn unfair! Seriously, do you even see me as human?"

"Aren’t you a ghost? No human rights, so why treat you like one? It’s just a hole drilled in your arm. If you’re pissed, go sue me for assault."

After confirming the electric drill could harm spirits, Dr. Chen summoned her courage and stepped cautiously toward the filing cabinet. Countless images flashed through her mind: a bloodied ghost lunging out as she approached, or a pair of terrifying eyes staring back the moment she opened a drawer. Classic horror trope. Knowing this ghost was no ordinary spirit, she’d brought the drill.

A hair-raising whir filled the silent room. Dr. Chen now stood before the cabinet—still untouched by the ghost. *So it’ll strike after I open a drawer.* The key item was inside. Without it, she’d surely die in Room 4 upstairs. Any other VIP user would’ve slapped ghost-repelling talismans all over themselves first.

Spotting burnt ashes on the floor, Dr. Chen’s suspicion solidified. Brother Li and Glasses Girl must’ve tried the same tactic. But ordinary talismans barely worked—stronger ghosts burned through them faster.

"Sorry!" She didn’t open the drawer. Instead, she drilled straight into its center. The 15-centimeter bit vanished into the thin wood in a blink.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

A sharp, ear-splitting scream erupted. The cabinet exploded inward. Wood splinters flew as Dr. Chen glimpsed what lay within: five distorted body parts, seemingly from one woman. Head and arms stuffed in the bottom drawer; above them, chest, legs, abdomen, hips—stacked in sequence. Reassembled, the head and arms formed a grotesque base supporting the twisted "body" above.

"This is… intense." Even seasoned Dr. Chen felt her stomach churn.

"She’s a malevolent ghost! She suffered terribly—her heart brims with resentment!" the stone-faced man (himself a spirit) sensed the oppressive aura instantly.

"Disgusting, sure—but not *terrifying*. Nowhere near *her*," Dr. Chen snorted. This thing just triggered instinctive revulsion. Not true soul-chilling fear.

"Monster! Take this sacred tool!"

She snatched the electrotherapy device from the stone-faced man’s head and hurled it. As if sentient, it coiled around the legs—grotesquely fused to the chest cavity, flailing wildly.

"Darling, you’re stunning!" Dr. Chen yelled. A flicker of unease crossed her mind—but she brushed it off.

Current surged. The creature stiffened, then convulsed violently.

[Paralysis effect: 1 minute. Target will develop immunity to electric current afterward.]

Her phone pinged. *No warning when used on the stone-faced man earlier… No wonder. Malevolent ghost-class.*

"Stop spacing out! Find the item!" Ignoring the immobilized spirit, Dr. Chen swept the blood-splattered floor with a glow stick. Easy to spot—everything else was shredded. Only one thing remained intact.

"Treatment Records of Patient 4! Yes—this is it!"

Now it clicked. This room held no talismans. It held the key to conquering Room 4. With this, they could uncover the asylum’s most terrifying malevolent ghost’s weakness.

"Good. Let’s go!"
