Chapter 41: Formidable Foe (III)

“This big guy’s about to spit on the ground!”

The motion was too obvious, the flames gathering unmistakably in its maw. Even though it was the Lava Colossus’s first time using Magma Cannon, Bai Xia saw it coming instantly.

Spitting on the ground was blatantly uncivilized—not to mention the “spit” could trigger explosions and pollution.

She *could* have melted into shadows to dodge it… but Bai Xia didn’t.

She had a better idea: make it swallow that spit right back. Teach it a lesson.

Eyes locked on the blazing glow in the giant’s mouth, she didn’t retreat the moment it flared to its peak—she lunged forward!

A flicker of dark light flashed in her gaze. The shadowy energy coiling around the Shadowfang Dagger surged like roaring flames, then erupted in a dangerous, brilliant gleam.

Shadow Flash!

An upgraded weapon skill of the Shadowfang Dagger—unlike Magma Cannon’s brief charge time, Shadow Flash was an instant linear pierce.

So while the Magma Cannon was still stuck in the Lava Colossus’s throat, Bai Xia’s strike had already landed.

In a five-meter dash, the dark blade stretched into a razor-straight line—a phantom arrow piercing the giant’s core!

In-game logic was clear: skills without “stun immunity” broke on hit.

The Lava Colossus had none. The dark lance triggered a brief stun, cleanly interrupting the Magma Cannon’s charge.

But the real disaster came next. The nearly formed cannonball didn’t vanish—it spiraled into magical backlash and detonated *inside* the giant’s mouth, along with the lingering dark energy from Shadow Flash!

Dual explosions rocked the colossal frame. The shockwave sent it stumbling backward with a thunderous crash, like a collapsing mountain.

Just as Bai Xia finished her skill and hadn’t turned yet—a massive shadow swallowed the sky above her.

“…No way?”

BOOM!!

The Lava Colossus slammed into the earth with an ear-splitting roar. Cracks spiderwebbed across the ground.

Tianzheng’s pupils shrank, seeing Bai Xia’s petite figure seemingly crushed beneath it—but before he could speak, she emerged from nearby shadows.

“Phew… Damn, that was close!”

She patted her modest chest, heart still racing. Thank goodness she’d saved Shadow Step as an emergency escape. Without it? Pancake Bai Xia.

“You okay?” Tianzheng closed the distance instantly, glancing at the still-prone Lava Colossus.

Bai Xia shook her head, focus locked ahead. Just as she moved to press the advantage while the boss was down—the giant rolled over.

Furious crimson eyes locked onto them. With a deafening ROAR!!!, its entire body erupted in raging flames.

Danger washed over her. Bai Xia’s pupils tightened slightly. The flame-wreathed arm—now pure molten rock—rose… then slammed down hard!

“Watch out!”

Tianzheng’s warning was useless. A shockwave far fiercer than the earlier fall exploded outward, flames lashing into them.

Bai Xia never expected a follow-up skill after the interrupted Magma Cannon. Even if she had—zero time to dodge.

The fiery blast sent her flying. Her full health bar plummeted to a quarter. Tianzheng fared worse: the uncharged hit still knocked him back, stunned him solid, and before he could recover, the rising giant swung—reducing him to a sliver of health.

Only his new gear, Frost Aura, and attribute advantage had saved him from instant death.

They exchanged a startled glance, hearts pounding. They’d thought this slow brute could be whittled down safely… one slip, and near-total wipeout.

Bai Xia chugged a healing potion. Green auras shimmered around her—but no safety lingered. A glance at Tianzheng’s critical health, and she sighed, charging back in.

Luckily, after two big skills, the Lava Colossus’s threat dropped. It didn’t chase Tianzheng’s sliver-health; a few hits from Bai Xia lured it away.

Tianzheng stayed silent, healing relentlessly. The moment his bar hit safe zone—he rejoined.

Without Magma Cannon or Earth-Shattering Slam, they chipped the giant’s health while sipping potions. But just as the health bar showed visible loss—another crisis loomed… Frost Aura’s glow was fading.

Heat seared her skin the instant the blue light vanished. Dodging a swing with a sidestep, Bai Xia called out, “Tch… Hey, pro! You got potions to spare?”

“Plenty.” Tianzheng stepped back, checked inventory, nodded.

They’d stocked up for the village chief’s quest; goblin fights barely used any. Perfect timing.

Game logic: healing potions came in two types. Instant ones healed fast with short cooldowns but less total HP. Gradual ones restored more over time—but longer cooldowns.

No Frost Aura to counter the burn aura? Only gradual potions would keep them alive. Otherwise, they’d burn to death before downing this rocky brute.

“Hope my hands don’t give out before we chop it down.”

Potion gulped, Bai Xia charged again. Even if they won… she’d have nightmares about this absurdly tanky monster for months.

But quitting wasn’t an option. She had zero interest in letting strangers ogle her body—even if this loli body wasn’t truly hers.

That thought reignited her resolve.

“For my dignity—DIE, YOU MONSTER!!!”

Tianzheng flinched at her sudden roar, nearly getting grazed by a molten arm. He stared at her fierce charge, utterly baffled.

*What just happened? Did she drink a battle potion by mistake? Why’s she acting like she’s on something?*
