"Ugh, homework is so annoying. When’s Anqing gonna come visit me?"

Yuting sat upright at her desk, shifting her little bottom on the stool with a deeply bored expression.

Under her mom’s threats, she’d nearly finished her homework and was eagerly counting every second for the boy to appear.

"What if Anqing’s too shy to come inside? Right—he’s timid. Maybe he’s just waiting by the door."

The girl jolted as if shocked, sprang up from the stool, and pitter-pattered toward the balcony on her short, creamy-white legs.

"What’s this little girl up to now?"

Qiutong lay lazily on the floor, disturbed by the energetic child.

"So weird… can’t talk, can’t use my phone—just living like a dog…"

The puppy rolled over, exposing her tender belly, but her glistening eyes held emotions far too complex for an animal.

Three days had passed since Qiutong, once human, became this pitifully cute pup—and she still hadn’t adjusted.

After grumbling to herself with nothing else to do, she trotted over to see what the little girl was up to.

"Yikes, this kid’s got nerve—doesn’t even fear falling!"

Qiutong soon saw the girl doing something dangerously reckless for a child.

Yuting carried a small stool to the balcony railing, stepped up, stood on tiptoe gripping the edge, and stretched her neck toward the old building across the street.

"Anqing’s not there…"

She stared hopefully at his doorstep, but no trace of the longed-for figure appeared, and a disappointed sigh escaped her lips.

Woof woof! "Kid, get down! You’ll fall!"

After all, this girl was her nominal little master. Qiutong depended on the family for shelter—and as a former human, she couldn’t bear to see a lively child get hurt.

"Huh? Little White, what’s wrong? Missing Anqing? His house is right across—wanna look?"

Yuting noticed the white pup at her feet and asked curiously.

Woof woof! "So that’s it—you’re missing that little boy again. Go find him… and take me too!"

Hearing this, Qiutong finally understood the girl’s risky motive.

"Coming! I’ll show you Anqing’s house too!"

Unaware of the pup’s panic, Yuting nimbly hopped down, scooped up the tiny doggy, and—

Woof woof… "Don’t do anything crazy! Don’t drop me!"

Qiutong was terrified but dared not struggle, fearing she’d hurt them both.

"Little White, look! Anqing’s house is right there!"

Though young, Yuting moved with natural agility. She smoothly stepped back onto the stool and placed the pup on the railing.

Woof woof… "Good grief—I’m scared of heights!"

The puppy peeked over the edge, all four short legs trembling.

"Hehe, you’re so excited! Soon I’ll take you to play with Anqing. You’ll walk yourself though—I’ll hold his hand, and he won’t have time to carry you."

Mistaking the tremors for joy, Yuting ruffled the pup’s head with a bright smile.

"Please, you little thing—get me down!"

The pup pressed tightly against the girl, inching away from the edge.

"Don’t move! Falling hurts… Anqing would be so sad."

Yuting’s whole world revolved around her best friend—every word led back to him.

"Xu Yuting, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

A sharp, angry voice cut through the air behind them.

"Ah… Mom’s here!"

Panic flashed across the girl’s face.

Before she could react, she was lifted into the air.

"How many times? No stools on the balcony! Are my words just noise to you?"

Her mother plucked her off the stool and scolded her fiercely.

"I just… wanted to see if Anqing was home…"

Yuting hung her head, voice barely a whisper.

"Miss him? Go downstairs! Next time, I’ll toss you off this balcony—understand?"

*Smack! Smack! Smack!*

Lu couldn’t ignore such danger. She tucked her daughter under her arm and spanked her bottom firmly.

"Good! Spank her hard—this brat needs it!"

Qiutong watched with quiet satisfaction, almost wishing she could join in.

"Waaah…"

Tears spilled instantly as stinging pain bloomed on her bottom.

"Learned your lesson?"

After five sharp smacks, Lu set her down and asked sternly.

"Mm…"

Voice choked, Yuting dared not argue.

"You never learn without a spanking. Homework done? Go play with Anqing—I’m not stopping you."

Seeing her daughter’s tear-streaked, pitiful face, Lu’s anger melted. She pulled her into a hug.

"Almost done…"

Yuting sniffled, secretly wiping tears and snot on her mom’s sleeve.

"Dinner first. Homework later."

Lu noticed the gesture—amused, exasperated, and utterly helpless.

Woof woof woof!

Urgent barks broke the moment. The forgotten pup on the railing was frantically reminding them: *I’m still up here!*

"Mom—the pup!"

Yuting shook her mother’s arm.

"You little brat! Climbing up yourself *and* bringing the dog? Do this again, I’ll spank you raw!"

Lu’s calm shattered. She pinched the girl’s ear, scolding fiercely.

*A six-year-old… such danger. If anything happened, I’d never forgive myself.*

"Ow ow ow! I won’t do it again! Please stop—get Little White down! Anqing loves her!"

Yuting’s pretty face scrunched into a pained grimace.

Woof woof! "Get me down *first*, then spank the brat!"

Qiutong wouldn’t mind extra punishment for the kid—but right now, she just wanted off this railing.

Finally, Lu lifted the trembling pup down and led her daughter downstairs for dinner.
