Sradon Kingdom — Border of Luoling Deepwood
"Master Ling Xie, we’ve arrived. This is where the Abyssal Tyrant resides," the tiger-eared beastman said respectfully. We now stood at the monster’s very lair. Though other beasts roamed the area, all were low-grade.
This spot lay merely a few kilometers from where I’d been sealed. I wondered if any familiar monsters lurked here.
"I’ve already sensed its general location," I remarked. "Truly, for a society like yours to harbor such a beast is nothing short of a miracle."
"Our society???" The tiger-eared beastman looked utterly bewildered.
*Aren’t you part of this society too?* he thought, baffled.
"To think someone with zero magic dared come here… What was the Adventurers’ Guild thinking? Are they insane to hunt the Abyssal Tyrant?"
"Right? But look at that stunning woman behind that useless guy. Total flower stuck in manure."
"How ’bout we snatch her after? He’s powerless—we’d crush him with a finger. She’d jump right into our arms."
"Once we’ve taken down the Abyssal Tyrant, we’ll handle him."
Spotting us, the adventurers and sentries poised for assault began whispering amongst themselves.
My sharp hearing caught every syllable. My expression turned glacial.
I cared little for being called "powerless trash." But the mere thought of them laying hands on my retainer—*my woman*? That alone sealed their fate.
*Sigh~* Why do so many insist on courting death? Is the slap from this Abyssal Dragon Xie Long not firm enough?
"Elle, Luolie—all of you, sit right here," I commanded. "I intend to watch how these fools attempt to slay the Abyssal Tyrant." I settled onto the ground, fixing them with an icy stare.
Through my divine sense, it was clear: these adventurers stood no chance against the city-razing Abyssal Tyrant. They were merely grass awaiting the scythe.
Even Gold and Diamond-ranked members seemed like chaff. Why the Guild sent them baffled me… Ah. They must’ve gravely underestimated its power, judging solely by appearance and magic readings.
"Understood," Elle replied softly. Without a word, she sat beside me and rested her head gently on my shoulder.
"Master Ling Xie… are you planning to reap the benefits without lifting a finger?" Luolie, the tiger-eared beastman, asked with visible confusion.
"Hahahaha~~ ‘Reap the benefits’? If they could actually wound the Abyssal Tyrant, maybe. But they can’t. I just want to see their faces when it hunts them down. A beast like that? Not worth my time." I burst into laughter at his question.
"This…" Luolie and the other beastmen exchanged speechless glances.
*Can we not show off so much?*
"Advance! Feeding time for the Abyssal Tyrant. Prepare the bait. Lure it out. Execute the plan," a man ordered.
"Yes, sir!"
Cages swung open. Cattle and sheep poured out, marching forward in unnerving unison—as if rigorously trained.
*A coordinated ploy? Seems these adventurers grasp strategy,* I mused.
"Follow!" Adventurers slipped into side paths, trailing the livestock while concealing every trace of magic.
Their plan: bait the Abyssal Tyrant, ambush from the flank, strike in one swift move.
ROAR~~~
A thunderous roar shattered the silence of Luoling Deepwood. Adventurers tensed—the beast had scented the bait.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
The ground trembled with rapid, heavy impacts. The Abyssal Tyrant charged at breakneck speed.
*No awakened consciousness? Merely a low-grade beast. Lucky it survived a century.* The chaotic footfalls confirmed my assessment. I’d briefly considered taming it. Now? Eradication was the only option.
Baa~~ Baa~~ Moo~~
Sensing the colossal presence, the livestock stampeded wildly. Adventurers’ faces paled—they’d overlooked this.
"Scram! Get out of the way!"
Panicked animals flooded into the adventurers’ hiding paths, throwing their formation into chaos.
