“My phone number?”

Alte looked a little surprised.

He had no idea why Favna wanted his phone number. They already had each other on Penguin. Still, he gave it to her.

“It’s just to make everyday communication a little easier. Don’t overthink it, seriously.”

After seeing the number Alte sent over, Favna replied in a somewhat timid voice.

But Alte clearly didn’t take it to heart. He just waved a hand and said casually,

“I know. We’re totally innocent anyway.”

“Mhm…”

Once she had Alte’s phone number, the rest of Favna’s job became simple.

She just needed to get a phone with no IP address attached to it, then send him a text disguised as some kind of spam ad.

But the timing mattered too.

She had only just gotten his number. If she sent it right away, it definitely wouldn’t work. Alte would absolutely suspect her.

So she had to wait for another time.

“I’m heading out for a bit. Want me to bring you back something to eat?”

Maybe because the intelligence department still hadn’t made any progress, Alte decided to go find help himself. Waiting around here was too much of a waste of time.

“No need. I just ate, so I’m not hungry yet.”

Favna didn’t ask where Alte was going.

With the kind of relationship they had, she wasn’t close enough to question him about everything.

“Then I’m off. If anyone comes by, just tell them I’m not here.”

“Take care.”

After saying that, Alte closed the door and left, leaving Favna alone to watch the place.

But once she confirmed Alte was really gone, she immediately got busy with her own task.

What she needed to do next was send out the information she had provided, packaging it as some unimportant little ad.

After making full preparations, Favna quietly waited for time to pass.

“Maybe... I should send one to Liko too?”

Favna remembered that she had asked Liko for her contact info before as well. With the mindset of one ad or two, it’s all the same, she started preparing to send the same information to Liko too.

On the other side, after leaving his office, Alte headed straight for Vice Captain Philo’s office.

He needed to properly discuss patrol arrangements with her.

A small group of Demonkin had entered the city. Their target wasn’t exactly huge, but tracking them down was still a real pain.

Especially since it seemed someone was backing them from the shadows. That made the arrest operation even more difficult.

“Lil sis, I’m here.”

Unlike Alte’s office, Philo’s office looked extremely proper. It was elegantly and tastefully arranged, and there definitely wasn’t a single bed shoved inside.

In Alte’s impression, his little sister had always seemed very easygoing and familiar on the surface, but was actually a very serious person.

Philo, who had her face buried in documents, heard Alte’s voice and looked up.

“Shouldn’t big bro be keeping sister-in-law company?”

“I told you, she’s not your sister-in-law... She’s really just a maid.”

Alte had long since run out of energy for explaining that, so he changed the subject.

“I came for something else. It’s about the slave traders active in Naro City.”

“Ah, so it’s that. Honestly, I’ve got a headache over it too.”

Philo let out a troubled sigh.

The police bureau wasn’t very capable. The Dragon Guard mainly handled border patrol. In the end, the matter could only be handed over to the Dragon Knights Order.

“We’re one of the top organizations under the Dragon Guard, right? So why does it feel like we’re way more exhausted than the people below us?”

What Philo meant was obviously the police bureau and the Dragon Guard. And when she thought about their own intelligence bureau, she felt even more helpless.

“The intelligence bureau’s people are seriously useless too. They can’t even find the other side’s trading location. This is rough.”

“Which is why I came to think of a solution with you. Which company of Dragon Knights is relatively free right now? Have them investigate the eastern district. Control over there is relatively loose.”

The eastern district was also where Favna had lived before. It was packed with people who had come to Naro City from all over to work. All kinds of people mixed together there, so anyone with bad intentions could slip in easily.

“Any free companies...”

While Philo was thinking, Alte’s phone suddenly rang.

He thought someone had sent him a message, but then he realized it was a text.

Before even opening it, he could already tell from the message header that it had no name attached, and the address was unknown.

Alte’s brows instantly drew together.

Why would this kind of junk text end up on his phone?

The phones used internally by Dragon Knights were highly closed systems. Normally, they should never receive spam like this.

“What is it, what is it? Let me see.”

Seeing Alte frown, Philo walked over, stood on tiptoe, and looked at his phone screen.

And on it was one huge line of text.

“Naro City underground casino now online! Sexy dealers, live card dealing...”

There was also a long string of meaningless characters after that, along with a web link that may or may not have been a virus.

“Uwah~” Philo looked at Alte and said in disbelief, “Big bro, I told you before not to use this phone to watch action movies. See? Now it’s infected.”

“Can you trust your big brother a little more? Do you really think I’m that desperately thirsty?”

Alte straightened his expression and refuted Philo’s accusation.

But she clearly didn’t believe him, and asked again,

“So you don’t watch that stuff normally?”

“I do.”

Hearing Alte answer so sincerely, Philo had no idea what expression she was supposed to make. In the end, she said with a somewhat troubled look,

“Remember to share some with me.”

Hearing that, Alte silently put a question mark toward his little sister.

At that moment, he suddenly felt like he wasn’t the one with issues here.

But now wasn’t the time to care about this weird nonsense.

Looking at the little ad, what he felt more than anything was confusion.

Who was blind enough to steal the Dragon Knight Captain’s information and stuff spam ads into his phone?

With a trace of curiosity and a desire to know more, Alte tapped the link.

What appeared on the website made both of them go wide-eyed in shock.

Looking at the long list of items and prices on it, Philo swallowed and said to Alte,

“This spam ad was just a cover, wasn’t it?”

“Probably just like you guessed... This should be a clue sent to us by some unknown person. There’s a good chance this is the slave traders’ trading location.”

But then who had sent it?

Alte thought about how he had given his phone number to Favna not long ago.

Could it have been her?

Just as that suspicion in Alte’s heart became stronger and stronger, his good buddy Abel sent him a message too.

“Alte! Look at this!”

With the forwarded message, Alte saw the exact same spam ad as the one on his own phone.

“My wife got it on her phone. See if it’s some important clue!”
