The boy’s lips curved into a faint smile—brighter than the most radiant spring day.
Ji Gewei froze for a moment. Words formed on her tongue but lodged stubbornly in her throat.
Something indescribable stirred… though she’d never call it “wronged.”
In Ji Gewei’s dictionary, “wronged” simply didn’t exist!
Yet it felt close—more like frustrated annoyance at Gu Chuan’s oblivious self-sabotage.
Instead of answering directly, she shifted tactics to reclaim control.
“Gu Chuan, I’m not joking.”
The calmer the words, the heavier their weight.
“You have your life. She has hers. Thrills fade. If you don’t turn back now… you’ll regret it.”
Ji Gewei’s gaze swept over Xuechun’s bewildered little cat face.
In those eyes—feline. Unmistakably so.
And the slit pupils!
Clearly visible in the center of her light blue irises.
Xuechun truly had cat-like slit pupils…
But that wasn’t all.
The tail swayed with impossible naturalness—no toy could mimic that.
Xuechun showed no discomfort whatsoever.
Gu Chuan’s shirt hem hid her lower half, so Ji Gewei couldn’t see clearly.
She guessed it was a waist-worn tail toy… not stuffed in.
But if the tail was explainable—what about the ears?
Beneath silver-white hair, no hairband trace remained. Not even a clip.
Fluffy silver-white cat ears, pink soft flesh visible inside the folds—utterly real, as if born of an actual cat.
(Note: Catgirls possess two ear pairs—human and feline—granting exceptional hearing.)
“Mew…?”
Naturally, she disliked being stared at by this older sister.
Xuechun pressed closer to her master, burying her face in Gu Chuan’s chest.
Her tiny hands curled inward, sharp nails tucked safely toward her palms, soft backs resting gently against him.
She wouldn’t dare scratch him—couldn’t bear to hurt him.
Xuechun was the sweetest, most devoted cat ever!
Seeing Ji Gewei’s concern and flustered expression was enough for Gu Chuan.
He offered a slight smile—to ease her worry.
He enjoyed that look… but too much was too much.
Softly, he explained:
“Drop the unhealthy thoughts. She’s my cat.”
“I only realized recently. She became a catgirl. Simple.”
“Simple?!”
“You expect me to believe some urban legend just because you say—”
Ji Gewei’s voice cut off. She could hardly trust her eyes.
Yet reality stood undeniable: Gu Chuan’s “legend” unfolded right before her.
Xuechun shot Ji Gewei a defiant glance, licked Gu Chuan’s cheek—then, under their stunned stares, transformed into an impossibly cute little white cat!
Gu Chuan’s loose shirt fluttered down, draping over the tiny feline.
“Meow, meow~” Xuechun chirped, leaping out and snuggling back into Gu Chuan’s arms.
Determined to stay. Claiming her master, right before Ji Gewei.
Gu Chuan shrugged. *See? Told you.*
Ji Gewei suddenly felt dizzy, pressing fingers to her temple.
Truly, only someone like Gu Chuan could accept the unnatural so calmly.
Anyone else would reel. Compared to most, Ji Gewei was holding up well.
Gu Chuan’s playful side surfaced.
“That mischievous someone who dreams of stepping on faces with heels… ended up judging a gentleman by her own shady standards, huh?”
Ji Gewei wanted to protest—*I’d never!* And no heels needed… what if it hurt him?
Just regular pantyhose would do…
“…Who’d even know that.”
Her voice softened. Her gaze at the white kitten brimmed with disbelief.
“This…”
“My Student Council President,” Gu Chuan cut in, “now’s not the time for supernatural debates.”
“Check the clock! If you leave now, you’ll miss freshman orientation. I guarantee it.”
Pleased with the morning’s turn, Gu Chuan unbuttoned his pajamas and changed into his uniform.
Teasing in that cringey, overdramatic “translator voice” straight out of a badly dubbed movie:
“…Fine.” Time was short. Not the moment.
“You’re walking with me!”
Ji Gewei’s tone left zero room for refusal—always this assertive.
“Afraid of rumors?” Gu Chuan arched a brow.
Dressed now, campus-heartthrob perfection. Ji Gewei’s cheeks warmed at his sharp, handsome presence.
After their separation, face-to-face moments like this were rare.
He’d grown so tall she had to tilt her head up to meet his eyes.
Complex emotions fluttered behind her guarded heart.
“So what if there are rumors…”
“If gossip spreads… will you be my boyfriend?”
“…”
Silence stretched. No reply.
Gu Chuan turned to soothe Xuechun, still “meow, meow”-ing petulantly.
“Stay home. Be good. I’ll be back.”
He shouldered his bag and strode out the door—without looking back.
Ji Gewei gritted her teeth.
And chased after him.
…
Gu Chuan took the subway to school.
His rented apartment was far—purely for cheap rent.
So why did Ji Gewei trek all the way from her school-zone home, passing the campus en route…
Just to squeeze onto the subway with him?
Xuechun didn’t know. *Meow meow meow! (angrily)*
Gu Chuan didn’t either. On the train, he scrolled his phone.
A mobile app for his usual PC game… Ji Gewei recalled.
*League of Legends*, probably.
She was the ultimate social butterfly—clueless about online culture.
Gu Chuan sometimes wondered: beyond their thin “sibling” tie…
Did she also worry for this lonely little otaku pup?
Shaking it off, he typed a message to a friend on the League app:
“Rank up together this week.”
