Chapter 35: President

Before I could even turn to look, someone yanked me into a tight embrace.

"So the saying ‘even a rabbit bites when cornered’ is real, huh? Hahaha," a silvery laugh chimed beside my ear. "Totally worth it! Even if I missed the action, seeing Xiao Xi get mad? Adorable."

…Wait, is there something off about that sentence?

The girl behind me stood a full head taller yet clung to me like a koala. Even Xu Qianqian couldn’t take it anymore and murmured timidly, "President… could you please get off my roommate…?"

The domineering long-legged girl shot back without missing a beat, "She’s your roommate, not your wife. That logic doesn’t fly!"

Only then did I really see the President. Stunningly beautiful—a legit idol-tier girl even by our shop’s standards. Dressed lightly, her jet-black silky hair slipped from the shoulder strap, radiant like a lotus fresh from the water. Her lower half wore ultra-short hot pants, those long legs utterly captivating.

Ye Xiaoshuang had nice legs too, but her elegance lay in her slender waist-to-leg line. This President? All eyes went straight to those legs—fair, smooth thighs that made my vision blur for a second.

*Ahem.* Staring at someone’s thighs point-blank? What kind of messed-up reaction is this?

But to others, my lowered head probably looked like a little white rabbit curling up in fear. The long-legged President squeezed me tighter, grinning. "Don’t be scared~ Get mad again! You’re so cute when you’re angry."

…Who even says that? Calm down.

The President clearly favored me, yet no one seemed surprised or smug. The influencer-faced girl just ignored us, totally unfazed. Everyone in the club acted like this was routine—no fear of the President retaliating or making life difficult.

I tucked those thoughts away for later. Right now, two bigger issues surfaced.

"Um… may I ask something?" I raised a hand hesitantly.

The President instantly clasped my hand, gazing deeply. "Anything. Ask away."

Peng you—no gay… wait, no les!

"Since you’re here too…" I tilted my head toward the hot pot table seats. "Why were only two chairs left when we arrived?"

I suspected someone who disliked me set this up to annoy me. But after repeated targeting—just like the long-legged girl said: even a rabbit bites when cornered—a flicker of irritation stirred inside me.

I stole glances at everyone’s reactions. Nothing. They just started dropping food into the pot. Only Xu Qianqian blinked in realization. "Oh! Right! Only two chairs? But there are three of us… Where do I sit?"

The President plopped onto one chair and gestured. "That one’s for you. I left only two on purpose."

"Oh! Okay!" Xu Qianqian sat happily—then froze. "But… what about Xiao Xi?"

My eyelids twitched. A bad feeling crept in.

Sure enough, the President patted her snow-white thigh. "Xiao Xi~ Come sit here."

"…" I turned silently to a passing waitress. "Excuse me, could we get one more chair? Thank you."

Since Xu Qianqian and I arrived last, we needed to prep the dipping sauce. The President volunteered to join me. I gently insisted: "No need to come with me. Could you grab some fruit instead?"

I swallowed my nerves—all for a moment alone with Xu Qianqian. Not for romance. Just answers.

"Sure~"

I let out a quiet sigh. Finally free. Alone with Xu Qianqian meant one thing: questions.

I had many about this club. One at a time. First—her name.

"Um… Xu Qianqian."

Her eyes widened. Her side ponytail shot up like a radar antenna. "Call me Qianqian!"

"Okay… Qianqian. I need to ask something."

"Shoot!" She puffed her chest proudly. "I know *everything*."

"…Well…" I fumbled for tact, then just blurted it: "What’s the President’s name again? And… what did I used to call her?"

"I know that," the side-ponytail girl—whom I’d always thought a little airheaded—peered at me, puzzled. "But… why wouldn’t *you* know?"

A bitter taste coated my mouth. My scalp prickled. "I… just forgot for a moment."

Right. Even "airheaded" isn’t "foolish." How could she miss the weirdness?

Just then—*smack!*—Xu Qianqian slapped her palm. "Ah! Got it! Intermittent sudden amnesia!"

Me: "…"

"I never knew Xiao Xi got it too," she giggled. "Happens to me during exam cramming!"

No. These are *completely* different things.
