Chapter 6: Su Xiaoxi (Part 1)

Using the bath towel, I roughly dried myself off, then grabbed that cute little pair of pink panties.

As expected of a girly design. Just like in anime, there was even a delicate little bow in the middle of the waistband.

“That’s way too girly.”

Don’t overthink it. Stay calm and put them on.

Pat. The elastic snapped back and tapped against my lower belly. Panties equipped, mission complete.

The bra... I lifted the piece of clothing and stared at it for a long while. It was seriously too small, especially that crucial part in the center.

Even if it was called “Little Cutie,” this size was way too tiny. It was basically middle school girl level. My body might’ve developed late, but I was still a college student. A real nineteen-year-old. There was no way the beauty piled up over nineteen years on my chest would be restrained by some mere middle schooler’s bra.

Half doubtful, I raised my arms, slipped the bra on through them, then fastened the clasp.

Click. It fit!

...What a painfully sad fact.

I put on the loose off-shoulder T-shirt and the tiny sleep shorts. That finally marked the end of this shower. When I returned to the dorm room, Auntie Zhang was waiting for me in a baseball cap.

There were some dirty old paint stains on the cap.

“Auntie Zhang, what are you...”

Had she gotten addicted to cosplaying a locksmith?

“I just finished changing the lock for you girls.” Auntie Zhang looked a little surprised when she saw me come back. “You were pretty fast today, huh?”

Emmmm. Do girls usually take forever to shower? And wait, did the girls’ dorm bathhouse have unlimited hot water with no time limit?

Tch. I’d been careless.

Auntie Zhang placed a ring of keys in my hand. “I’ll leave the keys with you. I’m heading back downstairs first. When your roommates get back, tell them to come down and get the new keys.”

“O-Okay...”

Through the towel, Auntie Zhang patted my head again. Since she’d just finished working, her palm still carried a bit of warmth.

I couldn’t help showing a comfortable expression, and even let out two little hums.

Getting headpats feels so good...

No, wait, ahem. I’m still a macho man!

By the time I snapped back to myself, Auntie Zhang had already left, carrying her toolbox with imposing swagger. My slightly outstretched hand froze in midair and didn’t move for a long time.

It was over. There was no saving my macho image now. In Auntie Zhang’s heart, I was already a complete soft girl.

“Forget it, forget it. Image doesn’t matter,” I muttered as I shuffled back to sit on my bed. “I need to deal with myself first.”

Only the private wardrobe for clothes was locked. Other storage, like the bedside cabinet and desk cabinet, could all be opened. I found my own desk cabinet easily, because my name was clearly written on the title pages of the books inside.

Su Xiaoxi.

Graceful handwriting, drawn out by a 0.38mm pen tip.

But sadly, aside from class notes written in the books, there was nothing else that showed her personality. No diary or anything like that. Nothing.

“Figures,” I said with a bitter smile. “What era is this? What college girl still secretly writes in a little notebook diary?”

A middle school girl, maybe. But a female college student? If she wanted to write, she’d definitely do it on a computer. Forget TXT, it’d at least be a doc.

You could even encrypt and hide it. Way more reliable than a diary protected by nothing but physical concealment.

“Right, there’s still the computer!”

I slapped my thigh...

Then my eyes instantly watered from the pain.

“Computer, computer... tss, that was too hard. I didn’t control my strength.” Pitifully, I scooted to the head of the bed and found Su Xiaoxi’s laptop under the bedside cabinet.

A thin-and-light model, super compact, under twenty inches. I plugged it in, pressed the power button, and silently prayed with my hands clasped.

Please don’t have a password. Please don’t have a password...

Ding-ding~ A pleasant startup chime rang out. Luckily, Su Xiaoxi was also the kind of person too lazy to set a boot password, just like me. Once it started up smoothly, I was stunned at first glance.

The desktop wallpaper was actually a super cute 2D anime girl from some series.

“Who would’ve thought such a well-behaved, adorable girl also had the heart of a hardcore otaku.”

That shared interest made me feel a little more attached to this body. It also made me even more curious. What kind of person had the original owner been?

I really wanted to understand her. At the very least, I wanted to know her thoughts and wishes, and do my final tiny bit for her.

In other words, I couldn’t just waste such great conditions this girl had.

But sadly, after searching every possible keyword in the control panel and checking every suspicious folder, I found nothing. Su Xiaoxi’s laptop was terrifyingly clean. There was barely anything extra on it.

“I’m screwed!”

I covered my face in frustration. Why hadn’t this girl left behind even a trace?

As noon approached, the sunlight became more and more glaring. I had no choice but to get up and pull shut the double-layered windows in front of me, along with the curtain embedded between them.

The room became a little darker, but that also made the inner layer of the double window look like a mirror. I saw myself in it—or rather, my current self.

The dejected little girl looked like a kitten that hadn’t gotten its dried fish, so cute it made people want to bully her a little.

So I reached out and did exactly that.

“Ow... that hurts...”

I clicked open the penguin chat app on the desktop. After the chubby penguin launched, all I found was an account number on it, with no password.

“Just as expected. What was I even hoping for?”

It was fine not to set a boot password on a laptop. But if a laptop without a boot password also had the penguin account set to “remember password,” that would be way too careless.

“At the end of the day, it’s still kind of troublesome. If you want Penguin to remember your login info, you have to manually tick the remember password box,” I muttered to myself, propping up my bun-like cheeks. “If only it were the browser... browser... browser?!”

Right. Even if Penguin wouldn’t actively save account passwords, the browser would. As long as the cookies hadn’t been cleared recently, I could log into things using Su Xiaoxi’s accounts.

And then I’d roughly know what she used to think, and what kind of personality she had.

There was only one browser on the desktop, and it used an IE core. Nice. Compared to Chromium-based browsers, I liked IE-core browsers more. Su Xiaoxi and I really had more and more in common.

I clicked it open. There were only two bookmarked sites, but they made my eyes light up.

One was Bilibili, the danmu video site. The other was Xinlang Weibo.

Nice. Two sites with the most information. I clicked into the first video site, and just as I expected, the webpage automatically logged into Su Xiaoxi’s old account.

Her Bilibili username was “xixi,” and her avatar was another cute anime girl. I opened her watch history and took a look.

I was stunned.

Bloom Into XX, Citrus-flavored XX, and a giant Houbunsha yuri compilation... Th-this revealed a little too much.

“Don’t panic.” I pressed a hand to my chest. “This is a good thing.”

Yeah. At least I didn’t have to keep worrying about what I’d do if Su Xiaoxi had a boyfriend before the car accident. I’d seriously been concerned about that.

Then I clicked into her profile, and my heart leaped with joy. Su Xiaoxi had actually uploaded videos before. She’d been a content creator. There was a whole page full of videos, and when I scrolled to the bottom, the earliest one was from two years ago.

Its title was—

“Trying to Upload a Handmade Mold Tutorial”

Huh?

Okay, so it wasn’t the kind of videos I’d imagined. Still, this kind of content did fit Su Xiaoxi’s quiet, well-behaved, and somewhat shy image. None of the videos showed her face. The only thing on camera was a pair of soft, fair little hands and various tools.

But even with only her hands on screen, they were still the main target of the danmu comments spamming “prprprpr” and meme jokes.
