Chapter 4: A Dash of Holy Water

During the car’s final moments, my mind raced with thoughts.

In my whole life, aside from sneaking a few glances at the class beauty next door, I’d barely seen any truly stunning girls—especially ones with a strong aura and commanding presence. Those were rarer than rare.

Dreams stem from reality. In my imagination, the Queen of Night was a supremely powerful figure radiating overwhelming presence—undoubtedly beautiful, with a flawless figure.

Only one person I knew fit that description—

“I finally get why the Queen I dreamed up sounded so much like you,” I said to An Li.

After all, I genuinely couldn’t picture any other voice matching that vibe. I couldn’t exactly plug in Google Assistant or Siri for my dream, could I?

“I’m not particularly interested in the reason,” An Li said, pulling the car to the curb. “We’re here.”

Ahead stood a lavishly decorated high-rise. Above the entrance glowed a large LED sign: *Lianyun Scenic Grand Hotel*.

An Li parked, led the way inside, and I hurried after her into the lobby.

“Hello,” the front desk girl greeted with a smile. “How many for check-in?”

“Two,” An Li said, glancing at me. “A room with one bed is fine.”

“…Hmm, let me check.”

She eyed us strangely. We didn’t look like sisters—or even distant relatives. Black hair versus silver? Hardly cousins.

Such an unusual pair checking in together—but these days, anything goes. She sighed inwardly, ready to book a king-size room.

I caught the unspoken message in An Li’s eyes, shuddered, and quickly interjected: “Sorry! We absolutely need two beds. Thank you.”

One bed? I’d be sleeping on the sofa.

“…Alright then.”

Reluctantly, she assigned us a twin room (I still didn’t get why she seemed so disappointed). Card in hand, I flopped face-first onto the soft bed.

“Whoa—so good! I’ve never stayed somewhere this nice!”

Spacious living area, plush sofa, elegant table… even a canister of tea leaves sat ready (though neither An Li nor I drank tea).

An Li snorted. “It’s just three-star. Really that impressive?”

I rolled on the bed hugging a pillow. “You’ve stayed at my place! Compared to that, this *is* luxury.”

“Pathetic.” She turned to unpack.

Truth was, there wasn’t much: just a few changes of clothes. The rest were An Li’s “work tools”—oddly shaped crosses, a heavy bag of pure silver sand, high-concentration holy water powder. Yep, “holy water” came from mixing powder with water.

I lay on my stomach, swinging my feet idly while watching her.

“An Li, when do we start?”

As the Holy See’s top expert—officially honored as the *ultimate master of masters*—she slayed vampires like chopping vegetables. I couldn’t wait to see her vanquish evil spirits.

“Don’t look so relaxed. This mission’s dangerous. You insisted on coming, but I can’t guarantee your safety,” she said, glancing up. “You’d better be prepared. Look out for yourself.”

I hummed dismissively. The report said the spirit targeted anyone with indirect contact. Since I followed her, no way to stay out of harm’s way.

Honestly? As long as An Li was safe, I was safe. If even she fell… I’d just lie back and let it do whatever.

Without her protection, if the spirit spared me, the terrifying Queen of Night would come next. Then? I’d rather end myself than face *that*.

“Also,” An Li added, “we have zero intel. We need other preparations first.”

Just then—a sudden urge to pee.

Weird, right? No metabolism, barely drinking blood… yet sometimes I still needed the restroom.

An Li guessed blood held moisture, and all that “holy water” triggered some weird metabolic quirk to expel excess water. Just a theory. I didn’t care *why*—only that peeing was such a hassle for girls.

Panties off completely. Squat. Wipe clean after.

First time? I hesitated so long in the stall An Li thought I was doing something… questionable. Her germaphobe instincts kicked in—she smashed the door open. We froze, wide-eyed. Never forgetting that moment.

An Li, utterly flustered, blushed faintly and went speechless.

Me? Under her stare, my focus slipped. Already holding it too long… I accidentally peed right in front of her.

Flustered, she blurted to cover her panic:

“Just expelling water… clear as holy water.”

So now, whenever An Li saw me get up, she’d routinely ask: “Where are you going?”

“I’m going to drain some holy water.”
