After dinner, Xiao You strolled outside Xixi Gate with the few girls in their class. By the time they returned to campus, it was already 9 PM.

Passing the library, Xiao You recalled the urban legend Ning Shuang had shown her that morning—and couldn’t help glancing over.

Ning Shuang noticed. She leaned close and whispered, “You’re worried, aren’t you? Want to go check it out?”

Xiao You glanced at the three girls walking ahead, hesitated as if weighing something, then looked back at Ning Shuang and gave a slight nod.

Reading that legend had brought back the little girl she’d seen on the library rooftop last night. The girl’s revealing outfit made it easy to link her to the demon in the story—same location, after all. Xiao You couldn’t shake the thought: *What if that girl was the demon?* She’d wanted to verify it earlier, but the whole day had been spent with classmates, leaving no quiet moment.

“But you felt awkward bringing it up, right?” Ning Shuang asked, as if reading her mind.

Xiao You nodded again.

“Leave it to me. I’m curious too,” Ning Shuang volunteered, giving her ample chest a confident pat—a ripple followed.

Ning Shuang carried the unmistakable aura of a mature beauty: tall, curvaceous, with wild hair that gave off a big-sister vibe. Xiao You couldn’t help but envy her. In truth, Ning Shuang was gentle and easygoing—no wonder they got along well.

(Truth be told, Ning Shuang was secretly frustrated by her hair. She’d tried everything, but the ends always curled up. Eventually, she just accepted it.)

“Um…” Xiao You hesitated, then, after a quiet internal struggle, accepted.

Ning Shuang excused herself to the others, saying she and Wuyou had something to handle, and asked them to head back first. Then she led Xiao You toward the library.

On the rooftop, distant lights flickered faintly; up close, pitch black. Until their eyes adjusted, only blurry outlines emerged.

“Ning Shuang… it’s so dark. Are you okay?” Xiao You asked, voice tinged with worry.

“Fine. Never feared the dark—even as a kid. And my night vision’s decent,” Ning Shuang said, switching on her phone’s flashlight. “Still, better safe than sorry.”

They strolled while talking.

“Did the legend specify a spot?”

“No. Just said to face where the moon rises.”

They looked east—a full moon hung in the sky.

“So… any spot works?”

“Probably. But let’s walk around first?” Xiao You suggested.

Ning Shuang agreed.

“Something’s over there…” Xiao You pointed near a cooling tower.

“Where?” Ning Shuang shone the light. Saw nothing.

“Eek!” Xiao You gasped.

“What? What is it?” Ning Shuang scanned the empty cement, confused.

“Th-there…” Xiao You trembled, finger shaking.

“I don’t see anything?”

To Ning Shuang, it was just bare ground. But Xiao You felt a chill. *Because to her eyes, a lifelike eye was painted right there.*

Gathering courage, she looked closer. The eye sat inside a diamond shape and a golden ring—about a meter wide. Four strange symbols marked the circle’s edges. A magic circle, straight out of fantasy lore.

“Hmm… looks like someone cleaned here recently,” Ning Shuang murmured, crouching.

Xiao You noticed dust piled along the circle’s edge—freshly swept.

“Did someone do something here?”

“Maybe… someone came earlier,” Xiao You replied vaguely.

She crouched by the painted eye. Still creepy, but less frightening now.

She took a breath… and gently poked it.

“Ow!”

Luo Ling yelped at his desk, drawing stares from his roommates.

“You okay?”

“N-nothing! Just… toe cramp. I’m good,” he stammered, flustered.

After signing the contract with his senior, he’d jogged at the sports field, showered, then started a LoL match with roommates—against bots. Total newbie.

His Scrying Eye had alerted him to movement on the library rooftop. But with two contracts already signed tonight, he chose not to go. *Don’t get greedy.*

Still curious, he linked to the Scrying Eye’s view—

—and a finger poked *right at him*.

“Who pokes the floor for no reason?!” he grumbled inwardly.

Then he recognized her. *Shi Wuyou.* His classmate. Likely a Demon Hunter.

*Of course the invisibility spell didn’t work on her.*

She poked again. No physical pain—but visually? Like someone jabbing his eyeball. Agonizing.

*Please… I beg you… stop poking!* he pleaded silently.
